And that I can wear with socks

Any ideas? Not as heavy as boots and not as casual as trainers but comfortable

@laclochette , thanks. I'll keep my eyes open for any 2nd hand ones not that I need any more boots.
FWIW I don't like loafers or mocassins, or when people refer to any flat lace up shoe as a brogue.

Just seen they have so many more colours and even navy ...so unfair!

How do you cope with keeping your white soles white? Since they are expensive and look more formal than trainers, I suspect this will stress me out...

Edited

I’ve got two pairs in the lace up style. Really comfortable. Not had a problem with the white sole, give them the occasional wipe over with a microfibre cloth. More stubborn marks have come off with a magic sponge

I like Ecco but, sadly, they have closed their shop near me, and I simply can't buy footwear online with my awkward feet. I end up trying on dozens of pairs of shoes before I find any comfortable enough to buy.

Legero do comfy suede and leather trainer like shoes .
Lots of colours. Price seems to vary a lot.

Brogues with socks are in vogue, as you already have them, start styling them that way while your new boots are pending!

To me brogues with socks is akin to men wearing socks with sandals. It's just a no-no.

FarEast · 05/10/2023 13:47

Clarks do very comfortable and super-smart brogues - the Hamble Oak line. I have several pairs. If you want the trainer-like cushioning, put in a gel in-sole.

You could also look at Camper Pelotas. They are trainers, sort of, but they're leather, very well made, and last for ever. And very groovy, for those who know about shoes. I also like the less constructed Peu line, but they are a bit like walking bare foot. And they're a bit more "fashionably ugly" - but then some of the shoes raved about on this thread are - to my taste - unwearably ugly ... It's all a personal thing.

Italian designers - Pantanetti and/or Officine Creative - make the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. Discovered them on a weekend getaway and now my fussy feet refuse to wear anything else in winter. They both make beautiful leather brogues that I find perfect for work (though they are eye wateringly pricey) https://tassinarishoes.com/en/collections/officine-creative-donna?page=2

All these shoes are so ugly and expensive!
This is no disrespect to posters, just to general shoe fashion!

I agree. Most look like the orthopaedic shoes my gran with misshapen feet had to wear.

Verbena17 · 05/10/2023 22:46

I’d check out either Moschulu or Skechers.

Thatsridiculous · 05/10/2023 23:07

Next to a copy of the Russell and Bromley ones - I have them in a few colours - around £50 so a lot cheaper. I’ve worn them since last summer and all through winter

2pence · 05/10/2023 23:24

Has anyone mentioned Fly London yet? I'm a Doc Martens convert and now wear Fly instead because they are just so comfortable.

They definitely have their own unique look too, personally I love them.

Even the higher wedges are comfy, would 100% recommend.

ChaoticCrumble · 06/10/2023 08:34

If you struggle with sock visibility then ankle boots are the only way forward - I wear fly london chelsea boots half the year, but there will be many options! You should hopefully be able to find a light pair.

Allbirds Mizzles ?

They are trainers or trainer like. Very nice though

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 06/10/2023 09:12

I have the same issue but also need orthotic shoes so usually buy from Vionic but not liking much this year and so expensive 😢

FredFrenackerpan · 06/10/2023 09:59

I agree @PurpleRadish I am aghast at the ugliness and the cost of everything here 😆Apart from maybe the first one right at the top of the thread...

Stylish, flat comfortable shoes are as rare as hen's teeth aren't they?

Thanks to barstard osteoarthritis in my foot I can't wear heels or any elegant shoes any more 🙁

I feel your pain. Literally. I have according to my rheumatologist (I have RA) terrible osteoarthritis in my right foot as well as the RA elsewhere. He has recommended Skechers which I’m going to try as not keen on Vionic styles this year. I haven’t worn a nice pair of shoes forever 😬

RampantIvy · 06/10/2023 12:06

I love Skechers. It is like walking on cushions. I have been referred to a podiatrist (not sure why), but I will see what they say.

somethinghastochangesoon · 06/10/2023 12:13

I have these. They are very comfy. Waterproof and warm In the winter.

@VelvetVoice Haven't read the whole thread - but found Pink Stuff is fabulous for removing scuffs and marks from the sides of white trainers!

HerMammy · 06/10/2023 13:07

@somethinghastochangesoon
Don't think OP means snow boots, something smart for everyday wear

Canyoucheckonme · 06/10/2023 15:55

I'm watching with interest as work are clamping down on trainers now. I work in the community so need to be comfy and smart. I have knee high boots but find them too hot this time of year.

My other issue is that I'm a 5.5 so usually restricted to Nike or Clarks. Forgot about Sketchers doing half sizes tho so may pop to Outlet soon!

RampantIvy · 06/10/2023 16:15

My work have clamped down on trainers as well.

I have just bought these boots
