Thanks @ilovecherries

ToastCosILoveIt · 17/08/2023 17:51

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries . I am sure we will continue to have a lot to talk about and critique, all in the friendliest and most positive of fashions!

mizu · 17/08/2023 17:56

Can NOT believe we are 3 years in and needing a new 🧵 so soon!

I'm also very much liking the crepe flower blouse but in green which popped up on the side of my laptop earlier. And so I clicked on it and then spent some time on the TOAST site again.

@ScottishMouse I'm looking forward to making a few visits to TOAST in Edinburgh for the next few years as - mini super proud moment coming up - DD1 got in to do Arabic and Politics there today Grin it's a long way away from us but the right choice for her I think.

I know! We used to number the threads but at some point that fell away but I suspect we are well into the high twenties now.

Woohoo! Well done to your daughter @mizu. She will love it here, I’m sure. And a great city for visiting (excellent shopping apart from Toast too!).

ilovecherries · 17/08/2023 18:02

And that’s so exciting about your DD. And lot of trips to the frozen north for you. Edinburgh is my nearest Toast - 100 plus miles away which wouldn’t be a problem but the shop isn’t near the station so it’s a real trek to get to it.

ToastCosILoveIt - did you buy the indigo trousers? I’ve been thinking about them too and Itjink you are a bit smaller than me so I would almost certainly need large, but that would be unusual.

@mizu congratulations !! My son also studies at Edinburgh. It’s a great city to be a student. Compact, easy to walk around and relatively safe for a big city. I love visiting but I’m biased, my family all live there too. P.S mention to your daughter about the exchange opportunity in third year if you think it would be something she’d enjoy. Not all students are aware of it but it’s open to them all ( not sure if this applies to medical students ). My son has just been given the opportunity to study abroad for a year. Very exciting !!

Hi, yes I did buy them, just couldn’t resist. I think they are almost better than the parchment ones I have! I do wonder if I should have tried the large on too to compare. They look absolutely lovely with the blue jumper that I bought. I don’t think the photos on the website are very flattering or do the trousers justice. Lengthwise on me (5ft 5) they are also full length but not quite. A bit like those Sweaty Betty leggings which say they are 7/8ths. I think I will be wearing them a lot this autumn/winter.

mizu · 17/08/2023 19:23

@Noodle421 thanks for the info. As she is doing a language, I think she will be doing a year abroad anyway but know that Edinburgh gives great opportunities like this.

Of course, she’ll have a year abroad being a linguist. Wishing her all the best.

Checking in.. Thanks for the new thread

I also have the new indigo wide leg trousers and love them ...not so 'crisp' as the Ecru ones but still a really lovely fabric.. However the waist comes up much smaller in these.. I kept the M but had to move the button a tad ....
Really, really dislike the 'new sizing' which I am sure is just a ' cheapening production ' ploy .. and must have lost Toast so many customers... Some things I have now had to move up from a M to XL !! ( So those who took larger previously -as I did in some styles because of bust - are now completely down sized out .
I am not planning on buying anything now until either the next sale (or perhaps one thing from the next drop).. I have pretty much s complete wardrobe and now just need to wear it !

Countmeout · 17/08/2023 19:47

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries .

Well done to your daughter @mizu.Thats very thoughtful of her to pick a city where there’s a Toast, does she realise you’ll be visiting lots ?

The other item on the video I thought looked lovely was the pin tucked shirt. Has anyone seen it in the flesh? Is it quite thick?

faustina · 17/08/2023 20:07

Thank you @ilovecherries - a shiny new thread. Does anyone else find when the threads are quite weighty that it take forever to load?

@mizu - very big congratulations to your daughter, and to you for having a daughter who is wise enough to choose a very good shopping city for her degree 😀

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/08/2023 20:29

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries .

@mizu that’s great about your daughter, and really helpful that she chose a university town with a Toast.

I lived in Fife for twenty years and regularly shopped in Edinburgh but didn’t discover Toast until I moved to an area without one 🙄.

Snowyowl78 · 17/08/2023 20:51

I find the toast locations quite random, a lot of major city’s don’t have them, I wonder how they choose them!

Stoic123 · 17/08/2023 21:17

Congratulations to your daughter @mizu.

AmethystMoonShine · 17/08/2023 21:56

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries, I can’t believe the speed at which they fill up lately! I love this place ☺️

lordloveadog · 17/08/2023 21:58

Thanks for the new thread!

And well done to @mizu daughter! My eldest is thinking about applying to Edinburgh so am glad to hear the love for it here. And of course the toast is a plus...

Was weak this morning and ordered the Wool Cashmere Mariner Sweater in chestnut even though not sale because I love the colour and it is selling out. And then thought might as well get the stripe crinkle dress too. Will collect next time am in UK, which is later in the autumn but the euro mark up is so crazy, better to wait.

For the first time in my whole life I actually have plenty of clothes - in fact slightly silly many.

Noodle421 · 17/08/2023 22:09

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries Im waiting for my Suki trousers to arrive and groaning so much when I hear the love for the indigo trousers @ToastCosILoveIt do you prefer the Suki or the indigos or is it impossible to compare? I can’t possibly watch the new drop in September. I need to reign in. Didn’t help watching the new live today. The clothes were styled so beautifully.

mizu · 17/08/2023 22:13

I'm going to give the TOAST exchange another go this Sunday. It wasn't great the last couple of times I went but you never know, I might find something lovely this time.

AwkwardSquad · 18/08/2023 06:58

For Toast lovers visiting the Edinburgh branch, have a look in Dicks Edinburgh clothing shop next door and Treen on St Stephen Street. And Kestin just down the road has good menswear if you like mixing it up a bit (I have a pair of trousers from there in Japanese rip-stop cotton that I love).

Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries Another new thread??? Feels like we just started the last one!
I have my dd that is also planning to apply for Edinburgh Uni. She is hoping to do Italian MA and linguistics. She is wanting to go to Glasgow but she will apply for both. My older DS went to Edinburgh Uni to do law and he loved Edinburgh. Still does.
Nothing on the Toast website is really calling me atm. I did keep the small in the white blouse and am wearing it today! Still not worn the Maeve dress but think I may put it on at some point over the weekend or even for work on Monday with a tee under it and a cardigan.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/08/2023 08:27

Oh and watched the video. Didn't really like much tbh. The cord dress was nice but OMG it was low! Felt the navy wide leg trousers looked far too big on her and too long and not especially flattering on the way it was styled. Didn't like the square toe boots with the flares and the matchy matchy denim thing. The only thing I did like was the jumpsuit and the jumper over the top!
