@Snowyowl78 I have a monthly amount to spend on anything once I’ve paid for/saved etc. it’s a pretty generous amount so any clothes/boots/makeup I want come out of that. My issue is that I could easily spend £500-1000 a month - not on quantity but on quality, I just love beautiful things. So I really need to focus - I have a running wish list on my phone which works well. Firstly because it helps me make sense of everything I want to buy and helps fill wardrobe gaps (in the loosest sense of the word, there are very few real gaps 🙄) and secondly when I buy something I tick it off the list so I can see just how much I’ve bought and that’s sobering.
I also keep a list of everything I buy each year, when and the cost. Again, sobering.
I buy everything using a credit card and clear the balance each month. So no debt and no shopping ‘hangovers’.
one of my issues is not being sure that I will like what’s offered in a particular season, so sometimes that means I buy more than I want to when I see lovely things. Last winter for example I bought very little because I couldn’t find anything I wanted.
