@Countmeout i think will looks great with a short/long sleeve dress, or with a white tshirt or a Breton! I may debut the one I have today

Dee1224 · 19/08/2023 10:27

Hi, as promised - a few pictures from SM. I tried some lovely things on, but they were either a bit too small or too big🙃. It was also nearly closing time by the time I got there so didn’t have time to think about whether I could make something work.

I am regretting leaving the linen pinafore jumpsuit and tee - I thought the jumpsuit was a smidgeon tight on top, but it actually looked ok. OH will not drive back today🤣

The dress I think of as the ‘chocolate lime’ fitted really well, but I find crepe really hot and I have a terrible habit of shrinking this material in the wash🙃

Dee1224 · 19/08/2023 10:30

I am going back next Friday if anyone would like me to ask about a particular item.

@dudsville that is a lovely wish list - I’d also love the parchment trousers and cashmere sweater. I’m wearing the pebble dress today, I have it in this colour way and the midnight, definitely my most worn items this summer. Incredibly dreamy and comfy.

Dee1224 · 19/08/2023 10:37

I am also loving your wishlist @dudsville !

dudsville · 19/08/2023 11:04

Thanks for the wishlist love, they are pretty together!

I just put all my knitwear away following their stint in the freezer. I used a new-to-me folding method and there's more room than before. https://www.instagram.com/p/CvifJy5rq2P/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

I only did 3 folds though

PretLea · 19/08/2023 11:13

Just popped into my local store, really wanting to try the new stripy crinkle cotton dress, but they haven’t been sent it yet.

Countmeout · 19/08/2023 11:51

Are we thinking there might be a wee weekend sale prior to the Autumn drop? The styling video is 7th September. I know it was 22nd for a sale last year but do they not have a habit of reducing some things before a new drop? That may be wishful thinking.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/08/2023 12:19

No Toast for me today. I am wearing a pair of black and white check trousers from beyond nine. A quite exaggerated look but very comfy. I've a wee cheap cotton camisole on that I picked up in the Tesco sale for £2 that is handy under things and a hush linen jumper that is really old over the top . It is horrible here, drizzly and windy. I have a pair of marks and spencers black and white [ mock vejas] on my feet.

Thanks for the tip. I've just tried it out- this box was 'full' before but could fit a couple more in now.

I’m trying to decide if I should replace my gabis. It’s such a ‘boring’ spend but I wear them such a lot. I think I need two sizes down from my current ones. Which ihave in every colour. I’m wearing the jute ones today and they have reached the stage of oversize where they aren’t even comfortable as I’m continually hoicking them, and the extra fabric is chafing.

Now feeling pleased with myself - found two pairs in the right size BNWT on eBay. So that’s me replaced the blue and the green at a less distressing price point. And eBay spending somehow doesn’t count for some reason.

Plus I’ll take my other ones up and give them to my mum. She’s really starting to struggle with zips and buttons so she’ll like them, and she will think if I like them they aren’t old-ladyish. She’s 90 and had a fit when I suggested M&S ‘slacks’ might be the way forward.

I am delighted by the work the Toast repair specialist has done on my moth eaten sleeve. I asked for a discrete mend rather than constrast. Totally invisible fix was not feasible - the holes were enormous.

I was so pleased that I feel obliged to buy the Olive Wool Wrap Scarf they had in stock 😉.

Pic attached.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/08/2023 15:49

That is very good @Stoic123 , and all for no charge? Apart from the Olive wrap scarf of course.

Stoic123 · 19/08/2023 15:56

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - no charge and great service. They needed to send off to another store - took just under 3 weeks which is what Toast says will take unless particularly busy.

Stoic123 · 19/08/2023 16:11

I might have also bought the Bryn Radicchio dress if the last large size wasn't picked up by a phone customer just before I could ask to try it on. Gorgeous in real life.

Quite liked the look of the Batik dress but not at the full price and suspect sale price will still be too rich for me. The Harissa cardigan is a gorgeous colour and has replaced the wrap scarf on my wish list but would be a sale buy for me. No Bryn Leaf dress in stock yet.

Nothing else caught my eye for now.

dudsville · 19/08/2023 19:37

Ooh, @Stoic123 , yours looks much better than mine! My cupboard isn't quite deep enough to put them in sideways, the freed up space is to the front of the shelf, annoying! But the two top right a chunky thigh length cardigans and they've never fit in the cupboard so easily before.

And that's a great repair on your jumper! What a service!

Hello, name change regular poster here 👋
Thanks for the new thread @ilovecherries enjoyed the title a lot.
I'm not too sold on anything from the new drop yet. I like the fayre dress (one for the sales for me) and also the twisted seam trousers. Which at 145 seem like a toast bargain (anyone else feel like their views on prices have been warped by toast?!)
I've been enjoying my sales purchases of fisherman trousers (surprisingly versatile), herb utility trousers and wildflower (cow and duck) gown.
@Dee1224 good to hear your dispatches from Shelton mallet. I've only been once, really liked the gardens there too.
That sideline gilet is lovely.

I’ve been wavering about that dress for ages as not sure about the colour. If the previous season green version had been in that style, then I would face bought it straight away. I think I will take a punt on it and order.

I wish I lived near a shop.

Dee1224 · 19/08/2023 20:09

The gardens at Kilver Court are beautiful @MrsRadichio!

Saurus72 · 19/08/2023 20:12

Lovely repair @Stoic123 - and very charitable to buy the olive scarf to express how pleased you are 😊.

i popped into the Islington store today to try the Maya dress. Weirdly I’m still undecided on whether to buy it, I think mainly because I’ll wear it with tights and boots and probably a skinny scarf - trying to channel Stevie Nicks because well, Stevie. It was difficult to envisage how it would look because I was a) melting in the humidity and b) wearing tan sandals 🤷‍♀️

I think I’ll order it so I can try it at ho w with the afore-mentioned boots, tights and scarf.

Two things to mention - firstly, this is definitely in the new sizing, much more fitted. I’m wearing large when I would usually buy medium. Second, it is low cut. Doesn’t bother me but definitely something to be aware of.

@Stoic123 - that repair is so beautifully done! As soon as I can find my currently lost linen dressing gown, I'm hoping they will work a miracle on that too

@Dee1224 - thank you for the little tour of the sale shop! I can't believe they still have those bright tin trunks there! I ordered some by phone way before the pandemic (they're very nice but much easier to find nowadays)

@Saurus72 - you're definitely channeling Stevie Nicks and with tall boots it'll be hard to tell you apart 😀. I wish I didn't mind low necks. I just find that even if fine on their own, the minute I put something on top like a jacket etc, they get even lower
