I am loving vinted

Hey everyone,

What's everyone's thoughts on vinted? I am absolutely loving it so far.

The clothes I've ordered are practically brand new, amazing condition and a fraction of the price.

It seems especially good for women's and children's clothes and honestly I'm a bit obsessed and need to stop buying really but I'm nearly finished for our holiday and it's mostly been from vinted!

I also feel like I'm saving the earth GrinGrin I know I'm not really but I'm really surprised about how good it is!

What do people use for packaging? Really need to get myself sorted and sell stuff.

You can buy the plastic postage bags on Amazon relatively cheaply - I get a pack of 50 mixed sizes for about £7

I save the bags when I get deliveries from high street shops but as a buyer I’ve happily received items in a supermarket bag for life, wrapped and taped securely around the item.

Pigtailsandall · 15/09/2023 09:30

I use just about anything. I get a monthly coffee and dishwasher tablet subscriptions, and they come in nifty little boxes; I keep Amazon packaging and all the various shipping bags I got when I bought new school uniforms. I also reuse paddled envelopes, and sometimes take used stuff home from work too. I got a dress in a bag for life, doubled up and taped with masking tape and that was also totally fine. Reuse what you can, as long as it is secure

Pigtailsandall · 02/10/2023 22:39

Hmm, I got a message today from someone who said they wanted to buy an item but the Buy button was missing. We exchanged a few messages but now I can't message the person back at all. I wonder if Vinted is down (although I can message previous contacts) or if this is an elaborate scam?
Anyone else had this?

TurkeyTeethLookAwful · 02/10/2023 22:45

How embarrassing to be proud of packaging something someone has bought in a bag for life!

sep135 · 03/10/2023 06:31

I always reuse packaging, I'd far rather receive my orders in recycled stuff. It's cheaper too.

Yes it's dreadful isn't it!

I always use a fresh parcel bag from Smythson (none of those cheap ones you can buy in bulk)
I scent the tissue paper too and pop in a Murray mint

This "reduce reuse recycle" thing is so terribly naff!

sep135 · 03/10/2023 08:04

The Murray Mint has sent me over the edge... I'm now imagining the Rowan Atkinson perfume wrapping scene in Love Actually.

A little seller tip for those new to it -

I keep all my listed items in a binbag in the boot of my car along with parcel bags (some new and some to be re-used) with some sellotape(for the re-use bags!) and then can quickly and easily bag and drop anything that's sells straight from a school run or when out and about. You don't have to address the parcels thanks to the digital label systems.

Buying tip-

When you have a named style of clothes that you know fits well (I.e. the way shops name their jeans 'Chloe Skinny', 'Demi Mom' etc), set up an alert for them in your size.

Pigtailsandall · 03/10/2023 08:44

@ExPreschoolTrustee Oh I know. Imagine my horror when the £2 used TU top I bought arrived in an Asda bag for life. Obviously binned it immediately as the seller hadn't used at least £4 in nice wrapping paper, scented boxes and silk tissue paper. At least they could have splurged out on a Waitrose bag for life!

Lilsoph · 03/10/2023 09:32

Hi, does anyone know the position with regard to an item I’ve bought on Vinted being delayed. The tracking message initially said it would be delivered by 2 October but I had a message yesterday that it has been delayed and I should receive it no later that 18 October. If I don't, I apparently have 2 days to report. Has anyone had this experience. My concern is that messages drop down the page so far that I may lose it so not then able to report if the item doesn't arrive. Sorry for the long ramble.

Freysimo · 03/10/2023 12:40

I had an item that didn't turn up within the specified window and Vinted refunded no problem. They know when an item hasn't turned up.

OooohAhhhh · 03/10/2023 14:22

I'm not really loving it all that much anymore and i'm still using eBay as a result. People want things for next to nothing on vinted, and I don't know why. You list something for really cheap yet you still get cheeky offers.
I removed a listing recently because I was so angry with being offered a piss take offer for something that was new with tags, all clearly visible and really expensive to buy from retail shops, when I had already knocked off a good 75% from the retail price.
I'm not giving it away, so id rather cut my own nose off to spite my face & just keep it.

Bulk black mailing bags from Amazon

Lilsoph · 03/10/2023 14:55

Great thanks for the info.

Pigtailsandall · 22/10/2023 21:48

Haa, I've had my first Vinted nut job!

I listed some nice kids' tops for £2. Late last night, as I was going bed, someone sent me an offer of £1.80. I honestly couldn't be asked at that point as I was setting my alarm for this morning, and decided to answer later. Today was busy and I totally forgot until about midday when someone else bought the tops. Cue a very rambling and pissed off woman who told me off for not responding fast enough. Apparently she really wanted the tops. I told her that I didn't think she was that keen as she was waiting to hear back on 20p and she told me I was a c*nt and she'd report me to vinted. Bit unsettling but I just did my 100th sale so I guess I was due a nutty one!

IDriveMySupernova · 22/10/2023 22:02

Oh god! Some people just want a fight. Over anything.

I’ve got someone whose parcel was delivered to a shop three days ago and it’s still sitting there.

What’s wrong with that?

Fair enough! I had a seller really hassle me about updating the tracking when it didn't happen automatically. I did my best as she obviously needed the money to be released but there was a limit to what I could do. Hope your buyer picks up soon.

IDriveMySupernova · 24/10/2023 18:35

Six days later the buyer has contacted me to say the parcel isn't at the shop. I've just contacted Vinted but not sure what will happen now. I have the receipt of postage but I didn't think to take a photo of the actual parcel itself. Does anyone know if I'll end up having to refund the buyer? Confused

Chocolateteabag · 24/10/2023 18:54

Which courier? Has it disappeared or has it passed the date and is on its way back to you?

Yodel. My tracking says it’s at the shop where she requested it be sent to. Apparently yodel keep for 10 calendar days so it shouldn’t have been sent back yet

Pigtailsandall · 24/10/2023 20:13

@IDriveMySupernova Yodel lost one of my sales afew months back. They never found it. It took forever but eventually both me and the seller got refunded.

They keep asking you to press button to "resolve" the situation which effectively leads you to admit you didn't send the parcel. Don't press it. If Yodel can't find it you will get refunded
