Hey everyone,

What's everyone's thoughts on vinted? I am absolutely loving it so far.

The clothes I've ordered are practically brand new, amazing condition and a fraction of the price.

It seems especially good for women's and children's clothes and honestly I'm a bit obsessed and need to stop buying really but I'm nearly finished for our holiday and it's mostly been from vinted!

I also feel like I'm saving the earth GrinGrin I know I'm not really but I'm really surprised about how good it is!

I was able to get an identical top to a much loved one that fell to pieces, also an identical necklace to an unusual one I lost years ago and haven’t been able to find anywhere since. For these alone I love vinted! Have also bought copies of standard trousers I wear for work at much lower price

TheMildManneredMilitant · 30/08/2023 18:00

Ahh thanks, one item came back quickly and sold again but still have hassle of needing to repost etc

I love vinted but sometimes the sellers on it are annoying. I've offered £20 for an alice temperley jumper that is listed for £30. Instead of declining the offer the seller has just ignored it. At least decline and then counter offer!

TBH although I don’t ignore offers I don’t counter-offer. I’m pretty thoughtful about my pricing and I don’t inflate the price in anticipation of a haggle, as I believe some people do. As far as I’m concerned my counter-offer is the price I listed it at!

I've got my eye on a few cashmere items.

Can someone tell me how you can see the postage costs before buying? (It just says from £2.87)

Maybe I need to download the app. I'm currently just using the website.

Having dealt with a horrendous moth infestation make sure you wash the items and then put them in the freezer for at least 72 hours before they get anywhere near your wardrobe!

BreadInCaptivity · 30/08/2023 18:54

Another person whose switched off inpost.

My nearest locker is a 10 min drive away and often full.

I've just got fed up with it.

DrMarshaFieldstone · 30/08/2023 19:06

Someone has posted on twitter to say that they have spoken to inpost customer services and the glitch is apparently with Vinted. No idea if this is true. I have a sale affected so will wait and see.

Lovemusic82 · 30/08/2023 15:14

Probably because offering 2/3 of the price is a bit cheeky?
I sell a lot on vinted and often get people offering half the price I have listed it for (example, listed something for £50 and they put in a offer of £25), I ignore some of these because I’m not going to consider selling something for half what it’s worth. I wish the offer thing was optional like eBay as I list for the price I want to sell.

It's not cheeky! Most of the time my offers are accepted 🤷 at least she could decline and counter offer. Also if you want to sell for eg £50, then list it for at least £60, so.people can counteroffer £50 and feel like they're getting a bargain. That's selling 101.

MightySprout · 30/08/2023 19:09

BreadInCaptivity · 30/08/2023 16:05

That would annoy me also (even though I'm mostly a seller).

I've had a few cheeky offers and I've simply declined them and added a short message saying why e.g the item is in very good condition and I priced to sell so do not want to discount further.

Or in one case I was happy to counter offer and meet in the middle and another I suggested that as I do bundle discounts if they also bought a similar item from my they'd pay their offer price by default getting a discount on both items.

Fundamentally I don't mind low ball offers. It's up to me if I accept it or not and takes 30 seconds to respond.

Exactly! If I'm not happy with an offer I always decline and then either offer another price or just leave it. Not hard.

TheBeesKnee · 30/08/2023 19:22

Ah what an annoying day! My purchase was also failed to be delivered, the seller has not days if she will post again.

And I got my first negative feedback today which I suspect is malicious for whatever reason. I sold a baby outfit for £2. It was literally only put on to take photos to send to the person who gifted it to us (unfortunately not my style at all but I didn't want to offend them 🙈) and the buyer is claiming that it's stained! I know it wasn't, so I'm baffled as to why she would claim that it was, she hasn't tried to get a refund as far as I can see.

BlackJumpsuit · 30/08/2023 19:56

Today I've had messages from Vinted saying 2 items I've sent out are being returned to me! And one item I've bought and was on its way is being returned to the sender!

Anyone else? What's happening? 🤯

BlackJumpsuit · 30/08/2023 19:57

Ah just read further back that there's a glitch with Vinted sorry

Highdaysandholidays1 · 30/08/2023 19:57

It is absolutely not cheeky to offer 2/3rd of price, if things are a bit on the high side. All you have to do is say no or counter-offer! Some people still seem to think they are on eBay about two years ago in their pricing structure, and the plain fact is that Vinted has flooded the market with people with decent second-hand stuff selling relatively cheap. Price is a function of scarcity amongst other things and there's just a heck of a lot of stuff about. I always offer lower, always, because I haven't been pipped at the post to buying anything quickly for at least six months, and even if I was, of the items I buy, there's usually a choice of a few (bags, for example).

I have one seller I've bought many things from who prices very well and also has lovely things.

I've had no bad experiences, only one thing that was a bit pricey and not ok for me, it's a lovely item but doesn't suit me which is the danger.

I went in some charity shops recently and the stuff in there does not compare with Vinted because even though you can try it on, there are no decent brands in our local ones (M & S would be probably the best). On Vinted you can buy a level up from your usual brands and get things that are almost/nearly new.

Thank you! I must admit I immediately bought a load of cedar wood moth balls, but having noticed the sheer volume of cashmere items for sale which are full of moth holes, I was starting to panic a bit.

I’ve just posted on your thread : the buyer’s protection cover does what it says on the tin. You should always pay it

I thought it was mandatory to pay it?

Highdaysandholidays1 · 30/08/2023 21:04

Having said I love Vinted, I've just got a notification that the parcel has been returned to sender, and this notification has been coming up for lots of people according to the internet, not clear whether it is sending the stuff back or an incorrect notification. Also, so many Inpost lockers are full or not registering, another sender of mine could not find any last week at all. Vinted is great because it's easy, if it starts to be not easy or very unreliable it may tip the balance against it.

DrMarshaFieldstone · 30/08/2023 21:18

There is an update on the InPost website.

I am loving vinted
Delatron · 31/08/2023 07:56

I wonder how the Inpost issue will get solved. I can only see it getting worse now that Vinted is getting so popular. The one in my town is always full. Before I took it off as an option I was having to drive to the next town which was a faff.

Yodel and Evri have been much better for me

Freysimo · 31/08/2023 08:00

TheMildManneredMilitant · 30/08/2023 17:41

Sorry to barge in but has anyone had issues with selling and parcels not being delivered and returned recently? I've had 3 in 3 days and the buyers are equally baffled. A couple of locker delivers and one home.

I've had a parcel not turn up via In Locker. I'm in the process of getting a refund after three weeks.

itsnothingoriginal · 31/08/2023 10:41

I've just joined Vinted and it seems great! So much better than Ebay.

Just after any advice as I've listed a few things but a bit concerned about actually selling them because postage options for me are an issue. I live rurally and can only do Evri and RM from my nearest town.

I disabled Yodel, InPost on settings but noticed they say for some sellers they can't be switched off and all the options are coming up for buyers when I select parcel size on the listing. Just don't want to be in the situation where I have to drive over 20 miles to post a £5 item!!

Pigtailsandall · 31/08/2023 11:57

I've also disabled InPost now because the lockers were always full. I've had a good run with selling, but ran into my first issues this week. Firstly, a buyer who says they didn't receive the parcel I sent and Vinted now want a photo of the parcel before I sent it. Never in a million years did I think of photographing the parcel I sent off!

A cheeky buyer who offered me £10 for a Jigsaw coat I'd listed for £20 literally moments I had put it live. I didn't respond straight away because I was at work and someone else bought the coat in the meanwhile for the price I'd listed. The buyer got all huffy and sent me a series of rude messages 🙄 if they wanted it do badly, they should have just bought it immediately

LadyBird1973 · 31/08/2023 12:48

It's not reasonable of Vinted to ask for a photo of a parcel, not least because it doesn't prove it was actually posted. That's the point of parcels being scanned at drop off, so all parties can see it's been sent!

QueefofSheena · 31/08/2023 21:26

I'm getting double notifications when my items are favourited at the moment

ferretface · 01/09/2023 10:29

I never take anything personally on vinted, offers and the like - I just ignore offers if I think they're too low. I also don't feel compelled to reply to sellers who message about an item I've favourited. Fortunately have never had anyone get arsy with me!

HoliHormonalTigerLillyTheSecond · 01/09/2023 14:32

What is the buyer protection fee all about?
