Dee1224 · 30/07/2023 12:21

Hi all, I am so fed up of the grey and miserable weather here 🙃

Cheering myself up by wearing Pond with my new Chalk round collar tee.

Dee1224 · 30/07/2023 12:27

Well done on successful dying @Countmeout

@Laska2Meryls I have an old black skirt that I am ridiculously attached to, (synthetic material😱). I got a couple of bleach spots on it. Would these be covered by Dylon and stay covered after washing?

Thanks

Noodle421 · 30/07/2023 14:04

@Dee1224 lovely outfit Dee

Dee1224 · 30/07/2023 14:12

Thanks so much @Noodle421

Just catching up on the moth chat…thanks everyone.
For now I have stuck all my knitwear into plastic bags of all sorts, I will get some of the IKEA or Lakeland ones this week. I used to have everything in a drawer, but it was always a squeeze and is even more so with the bags, so I thought I had found a great solution and packed all the bags into this ikea storage box that I had spare, and put it at the bottom of my wardrobe. Spent a while sorting through all my drawers to make everything fit again, and I have just realised that this box has perforations at the top to let air in. That’s also going to let the moths in, right?! Is a drawer better than this please moth experts?

Really appreciating the moth conversations and advice: logging on to Lakeland now for more moth products…

Re the Repair jumpers I have given to Toast, I asked for the mending to be done to match as opposed to a contrasting mend. One of the knits is a neat cardigan in a lime green which is very similar/same to this season’s boat neck sweater. The holes are on the back and I don’t know, I thought it might look better if they were less obvious. The other knit is a jumper that is fairisle from a couple of seasons ago. The beautiful one that Sali Hughes wore on her instagram and which I think a few of us bought. The hole is right on the patterned bit and so I thought blending might be better. I definitely have at least one other Toast jumper to take in for repair: a beautiful mohair navy loose jumper from around 8-10 years ago and which I wear a lot in winter. I also have the magenta version which has remained moth free. I will come back with some photos when they are returned.

@@Countmeout The poplin top has been my favourite smarting top this year, it’s actually a dark smoky navy and goes both navy and black . I bought size S and it’s quite roomy,I think Nikki was wearing XS .
Pulling the ties raises the v neck and gives the top that Toast quirk .
I wear it with linen trousers and also the trailing Ikat skirt which is a gathered calf length one.

Countmeout · 30/07/2023 19:27

Hope it is roomy @OftenOrange . I’ve ordered for FOMO. Interesting it goes with black and navy. I loved it with the skirt too.

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2023 19:45

No despatch email yet for The trousers that I ordered yesterday early morning.. I hope that they will honour my order. I have had orders despatched on a Sunday previously so am slightly concerned.. 🤞

faustina · 30/07/2023 20:07

@Laska2Meryls - maybe they've given them a weekend off after we exhausted them during the sale

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2023 22:03

Yes keeping my fingers crossed that they send them tomorrow... I think that I may be better with the smaller ones.. 🤞 but hanging on to the larger for the moment.. I have a couple of weeks yet before I need to send them back

So having accidentally deleted this thread, in order to find it i have to go to the previous thread and click the link from there. Also I can't post pics, and when i post text an error message pop up that seems to suggest i can't post on the thread, but then my message magically appears, weird! I've got so many deleted threads to wade through to find this one to de-delete, and since posting is a hassle i may lurk!

Sending pond love to @Dee1224.

Looking forward to seeing the trousers @Laska2Meryls !

Also very curious to see the mending @ToastCosILoveIt. I went down a rabbit hole re Sali Hughes after your post! Is this still a free service? I would totally be willing to pay for expert mending as opposed to giving toast my clothes for them to sell on!

I found a moth yesterday on a tee shirt hanging outside my wardrobe.

I'm at a loss for what to wear this week. We have mild temps, wind, sideways fine rain or heavy mist. I think I'll build an outfit around DMs, hopefully the chalk ones as I've been a little scared to wear them.

Have you accidentally hidden it @dudsville ?
I did that once by mistake.

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2023 09:12

Hooray! My trousers have despatched!! Yay! 🙂

@dudsville
It sounds like that you have either unfollowed Style and beauty or hidden the thread .. you may have already tried this but
If you go to the little person icon at top of page and click on settings under that, you will be able to scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and find 'hide/unhide' and 'Follow topic' then change the setting...

dudsville · 31/07/2023 09:22

Thanks both, yes it was an accidental "hide", and i sat down yesterday to unhide it but i have over 5000 threads hidden and they aren't organised in any way i can make sense of in order to speed up finding this one. I scrolled through the first 500 and then gave up!

Today is finally oar check dress day! How soft and comfortable is this dress!!!
Sadly the chalk boots continue to glower at me.

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2023 09:25

Try unhiding by Topic ( s&b) and then next time someone posts click on 'save'.. then its there..

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2023 09:35

We are bedroom decorating this week ... Moved everything out yesterday as we have unfitted bedroom furniture (I have/ had so much stuffed in mine!! ) But filled some charity bags mainly of the remaining things that I used to wear for work.- but no Toast, thats pretty much all been bought come since I finished . But
I'll mostly be wearing painty old stuff for the next few days (no wafting around artistically wielding a brush in Toast dungarees or frock here!) .. but do have a couple of things 'out' planned...

Sooverthemill · 31/07/2023 10:45

The dress and skirt arrived today and I’m very happy. The skirt is medium and possibly could go down a size as it’s elastic
wa but I like to tuck jumpers in so think it’s fine. And the dress is size 10 and very definitely the right size. So am returning the 12. Hoping the dress comes out in other colours

Nice dress, really fits well @Sooverthemill Also love the skirt. The dress colour would do nothing for me. Pity it is in that caramel colour.
I ordered the Maeve dress today with my discount. Was really unsure which one to buy [12 or 14] but I am planning to wear something under it so opted for the 14 as it is meant to be fitted on the bust. Hope I've done the right thing with regards to sizing! Should come in a couple of days. I debated long and hard between that and the striped blue dress that everyone seems to say the bust is small in. I decided against it for now as it has long sleeves. I get far too warm and can't see me wearing this atm.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/07/2023 11:22

Oh I ordered it in the mint choc chip! That is really why I bought it as it reminds me of this :)

neveradullmoment99 · 31/07/2023 11:22

Hoping it fits me perfectly! Hoping it is not too big.

BettinaInDenmark · 31/07/2023 12:00

@neveradullmoment99 Looking forward to hear about the fit of the Maeve dress - I have fallen in love with the mint version too. I think somebody on here bought the other colourway a short while back?

Yes, there are a couple of people who have it. I think one said its quite fitted in the bust so that's why I got the 14.

faustina · 31/07/2023 12:32

@Sooverthemill - that dress is beautiful on you! You've inspired me to see if I can make myself wear dresses again so I can aim to buy it myself - thank you for posting the pics - so helpful!
