Good point @Stravaig ! I will definitely call them on Monday.

Countmeout · 12/08/2023 20:31

I have the Hal jacket too, I find it quite stiff but useful in Spring and Autumn. Prefer it with trousers rather than dresses. Longer than a denim jacket, slightly more formal in my opinion. I was lucky enough to get it in a John Lewis sale.

@Noodle421 i have the Hal jacket. This is actually the second one I have owned. I had it in a smaller size, grew too much (!), and sold it and bought a bigger one. I find it great. Easy to wear with pretty much everything except other denim (but I just don’t like double denim on me). It goes with dresses, trousers, skirts. Mine is big enough to fit sweaters under in winter but not so big that I can’t wear it in summer over a tshirt. I like the slightly longer length than a standard denim jacket too.

Thank you so much for the feedback. It sounds like a very useful jacket. I’ve always overlooked it for some reason until I tried it on in store with the new dotty print shirt dress in bottle green and they worked well together which I wasn’t expecting. I’m very pleased with the dress, it can be smart but also dressed down with the jacket and a cardigan and can easily straddle all seasons ( I’m hoping ). May well purchase the jacket now. I can think of many things it will go with ( as you’ve also confirmed) and hurrah, it covers the bum nicely !

Just to feed back a little - the shop was quiet so I had a fun trying on session. The little jacket in walnut is lovely too - beautiful cut/colour and comfortable too. I tried on the wrinkle dress in pomelo and was pleasantly surprised to see both colour and style suited me ( I thought the neon would wash me out - just goes to show never rule out until you try on). The crepe bottle green dress is thicker fabric than I expected . Great quality and hangs beautifully. True to size, I bought a UK 12, it’s roomy, flattering and a good fit with plenty of space around my bust area (some recent Toast dresses are too tight in this area and my bust isn’t even that large) and less voluminous/pleated than some of the dresses which can make me look very broad around the hips. I felt the green dress was more versatile than the wrinkle one which felt more summery and less dressy. Predictably I loved the gorgeous little cardigans in super soft cashmere and also the neat wool cardigans which are a teeny bit more scratchy ( as to be expected ) but not a problem for me. My favourite is the harissa.

thank you - I’ll maybe have a try on session before I decide - I definitely want it to go with my 2 linen dresses as I lack a layering top for these

faustina · 12/08/2023 21:04

@PretLea - the sizing for what?

AmethystMoonShine · 12/08/2023 22:18

@Dee1224 my Beaumont organics ordered online had £119 or £99 tags on them, I paid £27 and £23. Can’t believe the in store isn’t reduced too?!

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 22:22

@AmethystMoonShine - I know - the price difference is shocking! What did you buy?

faustina · 13/08/2023 05:56

@Saurus72 - that jumper Is beautiful too. I might try some on next tine I'm near a JL or Whistles

The much higher price for the Beaumont dress was the original one at TKMaxx. I'd had my eye on a black dress and that was on my shortlist - then the weather was so disappointing, it didn't seem worth it, but when they went down by so much I thought I'd at least try. I'm guessing their sale is so good because everyone else felt the same way and no-one bought anything all summer! (except us in the Toast sale). I've ordered the cream one and will maybe dye it if it isn't a nice shade

AmethystMoonShine · 13/08/2023 07:33

@Dee1224 I got the Regina in black and the Odessa in navy. I returned the Odessa in cobalt it was a great colour but I didn’t need three dresses….. although, like @faustina I’ve ordered the Regina in cream… which I may dye. Which really rather destroys my theory about not needed three!

Dee1224 · 13/08/2023 08:49

Sounds lovely @AmethystMoonShine . I got a bit confused with all the Odessas on the site - looking identical but apparently not. Hopefully one of the ones I ordered is the same blue Odessa that I tried on instore!

Alpacasoft · 13/08/2023 09:47

Took the plunge and sold some Toast things on Vinted.
Is it me or are people asking for rather a lot of money for really old stuff?
None of it ever seems to sell.

Made £100 on things that have been kicking around unworn and have a few other things to go on but will wait until these are all cleared.
Technically that's 3 things sold so can get 3 things off my list but I want to see what the new drop is like and will put the money into my clothes fund for now.

Alpacasoft · 13/08/2023 09:53

I meant to tag @Saurus72 !
I had a huge clear out and then a big replacement splurge in the sale, most of the things didn't fit me so I'm selling them but also prepping for retirement so getting a nice selection of very good quality things together.
I totally get what you are saying and I'm now operating on a one in one out basis or I'm making it myself.
Still enjoying the stalking and plotting 😊

lordloveadog · 13/08/2023 10:20

@Noodle421 which is the dress with space for bust? Sounds hopeful!

Noodle421 · 13/08/2023 10:38

@lordloveadog i don’t have a huge bust but some Toast clothes are definitely too tight in this area. Plenty of room for me in this dress.

What high street size are you @Noodle421 ?
This is one of the things on my list

I‘m a high street UK 12/14 and the Toast size 12 is a perfect fit - slightly on the roomy side.

I'm thinking similar sizing to the Bryn?

applecatchers36 · 13/08/2023 11:20

Sorry to derail from Toast but went to do some holiday top up shopping and was really impressed by Uniqlo. Had lots of good quality, thick linen shirts, shorts etc. Good value too much cheaper than Massimo Dutti who had an identical looking but much thinner and more expensive shirt a few doors down.

Possibly, I’ve not tried on the Bryn but they look quite similar in shape. I’m about 6 kg heavier than I’m comfortable with - carrying quite a bit extra around my middle and this dress disguises it well.

I'm a 10/12 and the small Bryn is nicely roomy on me .
I'm planning on heading to a Toast shop to try a few things on.
Will report back!

Saurus72 · 13/08/2023 12:14

@Alpacasoft Ah such a good feeling to sell stuff, I think it’s genuinely a good energy to release things that aren’t working for you and are there when you open your wardrobe making you feel guilty! I recently had a mini purge on eBay and sold 20 items - mainly clothes, some unopened make up, I made £300, immediately spent £200 on the Toast navy loop dress but feel ok about it. I’m building myself up to doing another round, it just takes a lot of energy to do it but feels so good!
