Sorry @Saurus72 I misread the jumper for the cardi…

Stoic123 · 12/08/2023 08:04

@Alpacasoft and @Saurus72 - I'm thinking an XL for me based on bust.

I'll see if one come back into stock (was one yesterday but went) and then order. Not sure they'll be much stock left in larger sizes to be able to wait for a sale.

If you want a looser fit or larger than 34 bust I would go for XL .
The arms are super long but I love that !

Saurus72 · 12/08/2023 08:46

Thanks! Definitely sounds like an XL, I need to wait until Friday to order so fingers crossed there will be one. There’s also this from Whistles - very different but looks lovely, and I really like Whistles cashmere.

The slate pinafore with the deep v neck in the sale, if anyone has this is it true to size or big/small?

faustina · 12/08/2023 12:53

@Saurus72 - that Whistles jumper is beautiful! I've never bought cashmere from them before. Is it thin/chunky/somewhere in between?

ScottishMouse · 12/08/2023 13:46

@Snowyowl78 I tried that in the sale but ended up sending back when I discovered a pen mark on it. It is old sizing as far as I can tell, I tried a 10 and that was plenty big on me. I am a high street 12 with a bust. I have both 10s and 12s in Toast dresses. So on the bigger side I would say.

Snowyowl78 · 12/08/2023 13:49

Ah thanks @ScottishMouse i saw it on Vinted in a 14, probably too big anyway

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 16:20

Hi all, I was about to order some of the Beaumont Organic dresses from TKMaxx last week but then their website started playing up.

I went to my local shop today and there they were. I tried them on - loved them. Got to the till £119.99 each! I pointed out that they were £18 and £14 online - but the very rude person I spoke to - the manager? - just said that they were able to charge different prices online. Fair enough, but over £100 difference!

I am really annoyed- the Regina looked lovely on me, but it’s all sold out online☹️

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 16:21

Meanwhile, I am six days away from the delights of Shepton Mallet - not that I am counting down or anything 🤣

faustina · 12/08/2023 17:01

@Dee1224 - that's rubbish customer service and such a shame! Which size and colour were you after?

mizu · 12/08/2023 17:07

@Snowyowl78 I wish SM would put their sample sales just a tad earlier on Insta so people have the chance to plan a trip there.

Noodle421 · 12/08/2023 17:13

Hello, does anyone have the Hal jacket? If so, do you find it a useful and hardworking item in your wardrobe ? I think/ hope it will go with many things.

Noodle421 · 12/08/2023 17:14

I’ve not bought it yet just thinking about it

Saurus72 · 12/08/2023 17:41

@faustina I do like Whistles cashmere - I have this in black and it’s lovely, medium thickness I’d say. I wore it loads wfh last winter and it was great. Washes well too. I also really like that it’s traceable wool, I feel ok buying it.

Whistles usually have a 20/25% Grazia code in Autumn so I may buy it then.

Hi @faustina - I tried on the S and the M in the navy Odessa - both fitted and were good in different ways - could have had either. The Regina in black - the one I really wanted- was only in large , (according to the label). But as it was smaller than both the Odessas it fitted fine and I suspect it was mislabelled. I was so angry - the guy was really rude🙃

faustina · 12/08/2023 17:51

@Dee1224 - I returned the black Regina in a small the other day ( kept the xs). Would you like me to have a look tomorrow and see if it's still there? Maybe DM me if you would. It does sound like the large was mislabelled because I also tried the Odesa and the sizing was very similar,

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 18:10

That’s so kind of you @faustina - I suspect though, that they would charge £119.99 instore! However, I would be very interested to know if your store would be more reasonable re: meeting the online price.

I have ordered the sand colour Regina in small to try instead as it was available online for £14! I also ordered Odessa dresses in various sizes/lengths as I couldn’t tell which - if any - were the same as the ones I had tried on today.

I understand that online prices might be a bit different- but over £100 more? I don’t really understand how that is legal 🤷‍♀️

I hope one of the blue Odessas fits like the ones I tried today as I think it would look good with my blue Toast Fairisle in winter 🤞

faustina · 12/08/2023 18:16

I'd very much doubt they'd actually put the price up once it was down - that is such a rip off! I think your local manager is the exception to the rule. Hope you find one which fits - the online prices are really silly now for such nice things. Fingers crossed for you!

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 18:27

Thanks @faustina - did yours actually say the low price on the label? It just seems like such a weird variation in price - £18/£14 online, £119.99 instore for the same dresses!

He made me feel like some kind of con person for asking. I mean, it is a bit of a weird TKMaxx - as I was walking in, the security guard was removing a topless guy who was claiming he had nothing clean so had come in to buy a shirt- but still - I was both fully dressed and polite!

faustina · 12/08/2023 18:52

@Dee1224 - I will check later or tomorrow, but it's horrible that you were made to feel shit about asking. Did you show them the website price? I'd be calling their customer service number on Monday to complain if it were me. They have always been lovely whenever there's been a problem - and sent me gift cards when they've screwed up. I'd be happy to check tomorrow at the store if you like - it might still be £22 but that's better than £119!

Dee1224 · 12/08/2023 19:00

Hi @faustina I might call customer services on Monday. It hadn’t occurred to me, but it’s a good idea! Yes, I showed him my basket on my phone - he said - order it online, then🙀

@faustina what is the sizing like? TTS?

ScottishMouse · 12/08/2023 19:53

@Noodle421 i have the Hal jacket. This is actually the second one I have owned. I had it in a smaller size, grew too much (!), and sold it and bought a bigger one. I find it great. Easy to wear with pretty much everything except other denim (but I just don’t like double denim on me). It goes with dresses, trousers, skirts. Mine is big enough to fit sweaters under in winter but not so big that I can’t wear it in summer over a tshirt. I like the slightly longer length than a standard denim jacket too.

Stravaig · 12/08/2023 20:12

@Dee1224 You could point out that both pricing and staff attitudes are appalling examples of 'digital exclusion' - essentially a £100 surcharge for those who don't shop online because they struggle to do things digitally for a variety of reasons. There's been lots of coverage in the media recently, as more and more essential services move to online only.
