An opportunity to discuss styling all those clothes we have on temporary loan.

@dudsville I have worn the sea kelp skirt with the thorn green shirt bought earlier in the year, I also tried it this morning with a black poplin shirt from last year (I think), each time with a thin vest top underneath, which I think works.
I'm a bit stuck with what to wear with it now it’s warmer, I do have an Emma in brown (coffee bean) .
I have also got the lichen cotton tank from Seasalt and there was a link to a teal tee up thread.

With the thorn shirt

Has anyone washed the balloon trousers. Does the colour run ?

Did you mean the fenugreek ones? I have washed them with similar colour tops and there was no colour run, but I did use a cold water wash which I often do the first time I wash things.

Yes those ones. Ended up washing with dark towels. I have yet to iron. I only washed them because I had dropped fruit on them

Here is the skirt. I contacted chat for measurements for xxs but they don’t make sense. I think I may keep the S and if I need adjustment I can get it taken in if I manage to drop more llbs. I absolutely love it and can see if wear it a lot.

I like the skirt @Countmeout it looks really good with the poplin top.

faustina · 11/08/2023 16:24

That skirt looks lovely @Countmeout - so flattering!

Saurus72 · 11/08/2023 16:40

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh I can’t stop a) shopping and b) planning what to buy next! I need to stop or I’ll go bankrupt (no not really, finances fine, but the constant planning/scheming is all-consuming.

Today alone I’ve bought a lovely big wool oversized cardi from Jigsaw (I’m always cold and I have loads of things to wear with it), plus a pair of tan knee boots (half price, I live in boots October-March).

My Toast wish list isn’t long but it also isn’t a small amount of money 😟:

  • olive cashmere scarf
  • grey cashmere jumper
  • navy leaves Bryn dress

And that’s before the fabled big September drop. When will it end?! 😬

PretLea · 11/08/2023 17:57

@Saurus72 same dilemma here. Some big spends on my wish list. The only thing that might save me is if some of my items come up on the next sale. Like the wrap front indigo jumpsuit - is it going to go on sale or do I take the plunge now? 🫣 But then other items not likely to go on sale soon - I also have my eye on the grey cashmere cardigan 😢

Sooverthemill · 11/08/2023 18:44

I didn’t even realise there’s a Toast in Edinburgh! Definitely and a visit to Ginger Twist yarn shop who has amazing yarns.

I got the Beaumont Organics dress today from tk maxx. Quick try on and it’s fab. Will go to Edinburgh ( with a jumper!)

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/08/2023 18:44

Looking lovely @faustina , great dress!

@Brillenbar47 , you were made for those trousers.

@Countmeout , the skirt looks lovely on you. I have it too and agree that it is very flattering.

I am wearing the help turmeric(?) long skirt from the sale today and the bold stripe linen tank in mango/Braeburn.

All this talk of what a lovely group this is further up thread: I totally agree and always enjoy reading everyone’s posts and feedback on what looks good and what looks less so. I have definitely spent more because of all of you but on the plus side I have discovered particular clothes and styles I might not have worn if I hadn’t seen them in photos on here or heard about the great cut or fit. I have had the mauve sea kelp dress for a couple of months now but unbelievably I still haven’t worn it. I suppose I see it as a holiday dress for climates a little balmier that the UK but if the weather warms up I will get it out. I have the utility shirt in green that someone up thread mentioned as a good combo with the kelp skirt so maybe I should dig that out and wear it as a jacket with the dress.

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/08/2023 18:45

Sorry, it was you @Theteapotsbrokenspout who mentioned the lovely thorn shirt.

Now with pictures

These are fabulous, what a find. And really suit your shape too.

ScottishMouse · 11/08/2023 20:13

Great buy @Brillenbar47 , they look fab!
And your dress too @faustina.

I got a Toast parcel today. I ordered the Lydia jumpsuit in blue and the vneck jersey jumpsuit, having seen the Lydia one on someone earlier this week. I went for size medium as that is what I have in the vneck dress. The vneck jumpsuit is too long in the leg and too baggy around the hips/bum. The Lydia is much better in those aspects, but I think it might be just a bit too small, I feel like it needs to be quite oversized. I’m not sure if I will order the large to try though, I feel like it might not get that much wear.
I also got the new wool vneck cardigan in harissa. The colour is beautiful, the shape is perfect, the wool is a little itchy. I will definitely keep this

@dudsville link didn’t work again 🤦‍♀️

dudsville · 11/08/2023 20:46

I love the color of that cardi @ScottishMouse , would you say the website pic captures it well? I like the tomatoey one in the men's section.

I just spent some time waiting on my husband so scrolled the toast website. I like those trousers you're all trying, I hope my cheap arket ones fill a similar spot in my wardrobe for me. This is my current wish list for toast... super small compared to previous collections but i do have so much now and when I look at things I like on the site my mind jumps to the similar item I already have. Of course as we all know sale madness overrides logic!

Yes @dudsville , I think the colour is pretty close to what I see on my screen. there are some lovely yellowy flecks in the wool that are hard to see online (well, on my phone anyway). I don’t wear a lot of bright colours, but I do love an orangey red.

dudsville · 11/08/2023 21:02

😄 @Theteapotsbrokenspout ! I just scrolled up. Your post at 14:29? That is lovely and i imagine felt really special to wear, which is what makes toast stand out for me.

dudsville · 11/08/2023 21:04

I have an amazing tomato red cardi that i don't wear nearly often as i find it hard to style. I'm going to see if i can take a pic in this light...

dudsville · 11/08/2023 21:26

This isn't a good representation of the colour so I zoomed in to show the weave It's a brora "mohair lace" cardi.

Saw your liat and chuckled. This is my list.

That seamless wool cashmere sweater has been my most worn item, its a lovely weight and so soft.
Just to warn you though @Saurus72 and @Stoic123 that it's not grey as it appears in the photo, its a soft taupe brown.
If you read the reviews everyone has said the same, lovely sweater but not grey!

Saurus72 · 12/08/2023 01:39

Ha @Stoic123 - it’s such a beautiful-looking little trio!

@Alpacasoft Very glad to hear re:the colour, that’s one of the attractions for me, the greige as opposed to grey. What’s the sizing like please?

This captures the marled beauty of it really well !
It comes up very neat,I ordered a large based on the reviews and it measures 50cm pit to pit ( am measuring at the base of the sleeve join?)
It fits nicely over a tee or dress and I'm now a small 12 ( 34 bust) but it's a fitted style, sleeves particularly.
Having said that it's been on holiday twice over the summer, perfect weight for travelling and sits next to me on the sofa to reach for on chilly evenings.
It's so so soft next to the skin.
I will probably order a second .

Stoic123 · 12/08/2023 07:57

@Alpacasoft - thanks for the photo and sizing advice. I'm also happy with griege as it will be more useful.

Stoic123 · 12/08/2023 08:04

@Alpacasoft and @Saurus72 - I'm thinking an XL for me based on bust.

I'll see if one come back into stock (was one yesterday but went) and then order. Not sure they'll be much stock left in larger sizes to be able to wait for a sale.
