Went back into the sale and ordered the Bryn reflections dress and the jersey v neck dress which was not in the sale, I really need to not like one of these dresses what are the chances? Very fast turnaround as they are already dispatched but one of my refundd is not showing yet and I sent it on Monday, hopefully will be done tomorrow?

RockaLock · 22/06/2023 21:55

Thank you for the new thread, @ilovecherries

I mostly lurk on these threads and just enjoy listening to all your lovely chit-chat.

I've just come on to say that a Toast habit is an expensive one to acquire! Following their latest "new items added to sale" email, I've just spent ££££. Oops. But I have ordered 2 sizes of the cotton linen panelled dress (which I ordered full price but sent back), so I definitely won't be keeping it all!

I have obviously had to hazard a guess at most of the sizes Grin

dudsville · 22/06/2023 21:23

(Humble bow)

At least half of what I've ordered in this sale has been a 2nd or 3rd size of an item, and I just did this with the pond check too. And me too @Alpacasoft ,i think i have enough to see me through!

I think that's why toast makes me so happy.
I know I will be wearing it forever Smile

Tbh @RockaLock if I add up my old buying habits, bits and bobs, stuff that didn't last, didn't fit, I don't actually think I spend much more plus I'm not really changing my size and I absolutely treasure my toast garments.

Trinitybean · 22/06/2023 22:56

The mariner denim trousers size 14 are bigger than my existing old sizing annies in a 16, it is a mystery.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/06/2023 23:03

Toasties, talk me down from the mariner denim trousers: I have already decided to keep the mariner hemp ones and these are almost identical. As the the hemp, the 10 is snug but looks good while the 12 is an easier fit but bulges at the crotch when I sit down and is a tad too big. With the 10s though, there is no leeway for putting on weight/big meal. Do I really need two pairs of mariner trousers in different colours?

AFingerofFudge · 22/06/2023 23:05

The only enabling thing I can add @ToastCosILoveIt is that I ordered both the hemp and denim Mariner trousers and ended up keeping both!!

Ah, you're supposed to be talking me down 😀. They are both classic and lovely shapes and amazing fabrics. I'll sleep on it!

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/06/2023 23:11

Having tried on the mariners in the 10 again, I can see that I can move each white button by a cm or so and just ease that waist. They fit everywhere else. This was a problem with my Annies too. I have bought the denim panelled trousers in the sale too though so perhaps these really do need to go back….

ilovecherries · 23/06/2023 00:19

What is the difference between the two pairs of mariners? Does the fabric feel different. And how do they go on? Is there a zip somewhere or is it a sort of drop front?

It is a drop front, yes. The denim ones are quite snug to pull on. The hemp and the denim fabrics are both sublime quality. Their styling is all but identical.

Why are you buying trousers which don't fit you perfectly / well / comfortably? (You asked :)

dudsville · 23/06/2023 07:50

@ToastCosILoveIt , i agree with @Stravaig

And I agree @Alpacasoft, i need to be wary as this yr has got out of hand, but i used to always do an end of yr talley on all my shopping. I shopped regularly, buying from lots of different places, etc., and at its worst i was embarrassed at how much i spent and the way my wardrobe didn't reflect that kind of investment. I had to actually stop shopping for a bit to break the habit as i was throwing money away. During that break i learned a lot about what i really wanted from clothes and narrowed my shopping to a few stores and cut my annual spend by about 2/3rds. I've now narrowed it further to just toast and just sales. Last yr i think i bought one COS jumper and one seasalt dress. When i pop downstairs later I'll check last yrs total with where I'm at so far this yr, but i think I'm about to be put under special measures as the spending is creeping up again.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/06/2023 08:03

Good points @dudsville and @Stravaig and what I needed to hear 🙏

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 08:44

Well on the back of that, I have just bought the gingham dress I have been coveting. I can't keep it all and only bought it as I had a few sales on ebay and have another sale in process. So about 3 dresses in and about 3 dresses out and a few other things sold. It makes me feel less bad.
So the elm check dress, the pond dress, the gingham seersucker dress..oops actually 4 - the linen cotton pinafore. Hopefully, I will hate at least one.

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 08:46

Apparently I'm on a buying rollercoaster, that keeps looping...

Does any of you know how the sizing of the stream crosshatch gown is? I was wondering if the X/XL is actually only a 14 or so with the new sizing? And I'm def bigger than that

I fell in love with the combo in the pictures: Gown over copper shorts, which could then be combined with a rust patch pocket tank top from years gone by

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 08:46

I haven't actually bought any full price dresses this season. Was actually waiting for the sale. I did however buy a few full price trousers but they were on the cheaper end of Toast and not all at the one time.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 08:48

No idea about their gowns. Ive never had one. However XL is more a 16.

Very good question!
The only toast trousers that fit me are the denim flat front and the Annie's.
Everything else is a no.
I did buy Gabis knowing full well they weren't right for me and have several pairs unworn.
Will get round to having a tidy up and selling some of my stuff once I'm back from hols .
Alex give me a very odd bulge !
I mostly buy Seasalt trousers/ crops now

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 08:49

I would imagine if it is dual sizing it would be a 16/18

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 08:50

Seasalt are using beautiful linen just now.
A few years ago, I felt it was much thinner.

I have a set clothes budget and sometimes it builds up and I have a splurge, then nothing for ages.
Also a mental list of any gaps in my wardrobe not many gaps Grin
Things that need mending, replacing, getting rid of.
I also knit and sew so I always have a project on the go.

Hmmm having said I wasn't keen on this year's sundress, I saw the toast live with the Maeve dress and changed my mind 😂
Might make it my next month's purchase.
Has anyone tried it?
Not sure how it comes up?

Yes!
I also love the fact they do Tall, they change the length of the rise also which is really important.

Stravaig · 23/06/2023 09:25

I once wrote a wee rant about everything I considered wrong with the fit of new Toast trousers 🤣. Didn't post though, will see if I kept it. My most recent Toast trouser styles date from 10-15+ years ago, and they are all second or third or even fourth replacements of the much loved originals, which fit perfectly.
