Also, @neveradullmoment99 - for context - in Toast’s previous sizing, (despite my huge bust), I was sometimes fitting into an 8! So, for Toast, these dresses are truer to size 🤣

Dee1224 · 01/07/2023 07:36

@Trinitybean - so it’s not just me that thinks the model in the video looks like she’s wearing a short gown 🤣

Dee1224 · 01/07/2023 08:05

Will anyone be popping to Toast today to take them up on their offer of a ‘seasonal drink’? If so, please let me know if it is a pleasant experience!

When I called in last time, said drink was an open dusty water jug, with a couple of sad cucumber slices in it. Despite being in there for a while and trying clothes on, nobody offered me, or the other customers any of it. Very disappointing 🤣

Hi, @neveradullmoment99.

I ordered a Medium in both dresses. I am a high street 12 irl - small shoulders and frame but with a large bust!

I found the gingham roomier on the bust than the sail stripe, but with slightly less material in the (very) full, swishy skirt.

For me, they are tts on top. Those with small busts and shoulders might prefer to size down.

I am still sad I had to return both as they fitted me well. However, the gingham triggered migraines, (I am hyper-sensitive to some patterns), and I wasn’t keen on the noticeable seam down the middle of the sail. Lovely colours and fit, though!

Thanks! I'm more of a 14. I ordered the gingham seersucker in a 14 but it was too roomy and the 12 is a much better fit so not sure. I might just sit and see if they reduce it any further. I have the trousers in the same print.

Sounds totally miserable of them.
I'm.quite far from any Toast shop sadly.

dudsville · 01/07/2023 09:14

😂@Trinitybean, that kind of thing is irksome! And 😂@Laska2Meryls , hope you had a merry duck and cow evening!

I didn't notice they were ordering a seasonal drink @Dee1224 but that would be a big journey for me for dusty water!

Dee1224 · 01/07/2023 09:17

That’s what I thought @dudsville!

It’s a minimum 90 minutes to my nearest Toast🤣

Countmeout · 01/07/2023 09:18

I expect it was organic cucumber juice with curated dust from dried mushrooms picked at dusk.

Dee1224 · 01/07/2023 09:21

I am all Toastie today - for once - wearing my linen trousers together with the purple stripe 3/4 sleeve tee I got from eBay!

The weather is foul here - I was cold all day yesterday, so dressing for the worst today 🙃

dudsville · 01/07/2023 09:39

@Countmeout , i nearly lost my mouthfull of breakfast 🤣🤣🤣

dudsville · 01/07/2023 09:40

I just read it out to my dh and realised it also had a poetic rhyme!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2023 09:54

Thanks @MiracleToast and @Zeusrules I think I’ll opt for a S as I’m usually between a XS and S with the new sizing.

Loving this very lively thread. I haven’t quite caught up yet !

I ordered the linen shirt in pale buttery yellow (Jasmine) in a small and found it plenty roomy enough ( I’m supposedly aToast Medium under new sizing guidelines). I love the colour but it was very creased when it arrived. I’m comfortable with some natural linen creasing, but a used dish-rag look would annoy me. Please can anyone tell me if it does horribly crease within 5 mins of wearing ? I think @Laska2Meryls has one of these shirts too.

Dee1224 · 01/07/2023 10:35

@Countmeout 😂😂😂

dudsville · 01/07/2023 10:54

It's impossible to keep up @Noodle421 !

I've recieved the diamond striped trousers - can't decide on them, and this is one of my main criteria - I should put something on and fall in love with it straight away, and although I can instantly think of all the scenarios in which they'd be usseful and they go with so many of my tops, I'm still looking at them with a critical eye.

This is also where the higher toast prices come in handy - at £65 they're a great price, so easy to keep.

I chose my usual size as well as a size up because of the partially fixed waist band. The size up are easier to get over my hips but are loose on the wasit and too much fabric. I like that the patern is woven into the fabric, but the patern is a style shift for me.... darn it, think they're going back, but I have one more delivery Monday so I'll wait.

I think it was @neveradullmoment99 who mentioned the timber/ecru gingham checked shirt being good value - thank you, I’ve just ordered one. I was swithering previously because I thought the style looked a little bit old fashioned but I get the impression from the reviews that it looks much better IRL than in the pics online.

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2023 11:22

@dudsville strangely some of my most worn toast items have been stuff I haven’t fallen in love with straight away - I often ‘love’ things that I never actually wear, either because they aren’t very practical or I am too shy to wear them if they’re a bit out there. The loop back jersey sweatshirts I almost sent back but they are now my go to jumpers, and the Alix trousers I wasn’t sure about first are also my go to as they’re so comfy

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2023 11:25

Has anyone ever bought a swimming costume from toast? I’m tempted but no clue about sizing, normally with costumes I’d size up to a 16 in normal shops as they always seem to be super tight, but reviews suggest maybe this is not the case with toast ones…

It creases normally and not overly so for a linen garment but I don't iron so as I'm lazy so yesterday I jut wore it from it hanging on a hanger air drying. I absolutely love linen in the summer. For some reason, I can't wear it in the winter! I can't deal with the crumpling on a wet, dismal and cold day.

That’s great. Thanks for your feedback. I’ll most probably keep it. I have the Peacoat in linen/cotton canvas and don’t mind that degree of crease and this shirt sounds similar on the crease severity scale ! I know what you mean about not wanting to wear linen on a dismal grey day, I feel similarly especially in these beautiful summery colours. I’m tempted by the pink too but it may wash me out but then I thought that about the buttery yellow too and it suits me. I shall give it some more thought. Anyone else thought the pink may wash them out and it didn’t ?

Noodle421 · 01/07/2023 11:59

Btw - loving hearing about all your purchasing stories and pictures. I do love this thread, it offers such wonderful distraction. I have my eye on the new ecru/charcoal alpaca/wool easy jumper in the new collection. I think it will get a lot of wear - perhaps will layer well with the garment dyed linen dress in liquorice over the winter months ?

Noodle421 · 01/07/2023 12:00

Oops - sorry! Mustn’t mention winter yet !!!

I tried a 14 in that blue square one that went in the sale, it was lovely but too large on top and I think the 12 would be too small. If the straps had been over the shoulder rather than neck tie it would have been perfect. I'm about a 12-14 so true to size.

Stoic123 · 01/07/2023 12:50

Afternoon all,

Final sales packages arrived and ready to count the damage. Diamond Stripe going back for me too @dudsville - lovely material but makes me look like I'm wearing a nappy. BUT the £35 Diamond Block blue trousers are a winner!! I sized up (with view to use PJs) and they fit really well. Can see why they have been returned before (flimsy material) but good for me- uploading pic.

My total damage (keeping) from this sale is:

  • Diamond Block Trousers in Cobalt - not on list/impulse buy
  • Flat Front Organic Cord Culottes- not on list/impulse buy
  • 2 pairs socks - both on sale wishlist
  • Collared Jumper in Mallard Green - on sale wishlist
  • Ticking list dress - on sale wishlist
  • Rae Tuffle Jumper - would have been on list if realised would be on sale
  • Zematt Slippers - on wishlist and planning full price buy
  • House - Camille Linen, Blanket, Bento set - Bento was impulse
Not too painful and all paid for with presale Facebook and EBay sales. Feeling ok but now saturated and staying away from Toast sale now. Interested to see what you have kept in the final reckoning.
Toasties enjoying their sales purchases and hoping for a lovely summer
