🤣🤣🤣 absolutely!

lordloveadog · 29/06/2023 22:10

ha!

sometimes I suspect satire, especially when they make a shop assistant look truly awful in a styling video and act so pleased

Stoic123 · 29/06/2023 22:19

@MiracleToast 😂. I love the classic Toast photo shoot staging. Last season's sailing and jetty pics weren't nearly special enough.

Laska2Meryls · 29/06/2023 22:47

Now come on folks, be fair.. She's 'curating' a special piece of Art there.. ( if she turned around you'd see she has a paintbrush as well as a mushroom in her pocket ..

Laska2Meryls · 29/06/2023 22:55

@dudsville . I know what you mean.. A couple of days ago I told a Toast loving friend that I had finished with the sale... But since then I have bought an Emma just to dye, a wool tencel top, some socks, and I just put the alpaca wool tank in my basket ( but then took it out again because, you know, I have ' finished with the sale'!) 🤦‍♀

clowniform · 29/06/2023 23:51

Thank you @neveradullmoment99 by the time I went to check out only the size down was left anyway, so hopefully it works out for the best!
@dudsville I always feel compelled to buy things I love in different colours, possibly hoping they will breed in the closet?

Stravaig · 29/06/2023 23:59

@dudsville That's really nice, thank you - mostly I just feel a bit odd!

Firesideknitting · 30/06/2023 00:00

gosh, so much to read since I was last here… I have well and truly bought far far more than planned in the sale, even some items I’d hesitated about. The new in items on the website are if I’m honest a bit disappointing, there’s not much I’d think of putting in basket. The new cotton patchwork quilt of course (buy one every season). Jute rug is very pretty, ikat wrap jacket (love this). To be fair my wardrobe is short of nothing, so I can easily skip a season or two with no purchases.

happysoju · 30/06/2023 00:46

Can someone please point me to the Toasties fb group? After this latest sale (cue wallet crying) I probably should unload some things I've hardly worn!

Here you are. All welcome, we are still small for a selling group but have grown to 400 in just over a month. It’s called Toast U.K. Buy and Sell.

Here's the result of my latest dye mixing experiment.. Pistachio Emma changed to (almost) Toast Thorn green ( needs ironing) . Really pleased with it! I have a replacement pistachio one arriving today and a couple more chalk ones ordered which are destined to be turned into a red one and a darker/ emerald green one .

@Laska2Meryls Love your t- shirt!

dudsville · 30/06/2023 07:48

That's perfect @Laska2Meryls , i love that colour!

AFingerofFudge · 30/06/2023 08:01

Wow @Laska2Meryls that's amazing! I have never dyed anything but am seriously tempted after seeing your results!!

Countmeout · 30/06/2023 08:30

Looks great @Laska2Meryls .

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/06/2023 08:33

That’s amazing @Laska2Meryls , I’ve got the thorn green shirt and that colour is a really good match.

mizu · 30/06/2023 08:48

@Laska2Meryls gorgeous colour. What colour did you use?

lordloveadog · 30/06/2023 09:15

Oh that's a beautiful colour!

lordloveadog · 30/06/2023 09:18

Have returned the embroidered textured cotton dress because really it didn't have a niche and, well, ordered some other things instead...

A dark blue wool cashmere cardigan because I love those and wear them a lot and the grey loopback trousers to try. The blue ones are good on me and I expect to wear that set all autumn. These are a different shape but am keen to try.

Laska2Meryls · 30/06/2023 09:38

I am glad you all approve! Here it is with the Thorn shirt and peaks dress .. its a bit brighter than the shirt but definitely on the same shade spectrum - the Thorn definitely has more blue tones.. But I started off with Pistachio as a base so it will look a bit more yellow.

Its always a gamble mixing dye so you have to be prepared to take a risk and although I sometimes do make it up as I go along, there is lots of info on the net .. Here I used 150g Dylon machine dye measured fron the larger packets ( as I was only doing one item) .. two thirds Paradise Blue and one third Emerald ( with an extra spoonful of emerald for luck!) ..

If you are starting out its best to use machine dye and remember colour mixing rules apply as in paint. Also polyester thread wont dye so you need to be prepared for a contrast . But Toast garment dyed items should dye well but I have had a couple of results in the past ( linen jersey vests and bamboo nightwear) where it turned out that they had used polyester thread ...

RIT dye is also good and has a larger range of shades, but its a bit more messy to use as you have to make it up in solution first..

Also its best not to use machine dye in a washer dryer as apparently it can affect the filters of the dryer causing dye transfer , I have heard (Cherries reported this problem a while ago) .. I dont have a W/D.. and I haven't found subsequent washes to be affected. But I do carefully wipe around the inner rubber seal with kitchen roll afterwards and then run a rinse cycle

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/06/2023 09:45

Interesting seeing the two items side by side @Laska2Meryls there is more difference in the colour than I thought from the previous picture. However the tee is a lovely colour and definitely on the same shade spectrum. I haven’t dyed anything since I was about 15 and I think dyes have moved on a lot since then, quite tempted to give it a try.

Laska2Meryls · 30/06/2023 09:56

Its difficult of course to know how it comes out on screens but yes, its about two shades lighter and brighter but isnt a 'bright' shade ifyswim !

Laska2Meryls · 30/06/2023 09:57

Also its sunnier here now !
