I am glad you all approve! Here it is with the Thorn shirt and peaks dress .. its a bit brighter than the shirt but definitely on the same shade spectrum - the Thorn definitely has more blue tones.. But I started off with Pistachio as a base so it will look a bit more yellow.
Its always a gamble mixing dye so you have to be prepared to take a risk and although I sometimes do make it up as I go along, there is lots of info on the net .. Here I used 150g Dylon machine dye measured fron the larger packets ( as I was only doing one item) .. two thirds Paradise Blue and one third Emerald ( with an extra spoonful of emerald for luck!) ..
If you are starting out its best to use machine dye and remember colour mixing rules apply as in paint. Also polyester thread wont dye so you need to be prepared for a contrast . But Toast garment dyed items should dye well but I have had a couple of results in the past ( linen jersey vests and bamboo nightwear) where it turned out that they had used polyester thread ...
RIT dye is also good and has a larger range of shades, but its a bit more messy to use as you have to make it up in solution first..
Also its best not to use machine dye in a washer dryer as apparently it can affect the filters of the dryer causing dye transfer , I have heard (Cherries reported this problem a while ago) .. I dont have a W/D.. and I haven't found subsequent washes to be affected. But I do carefully wipe around the inner rubber seal with kitchen roll afterwards and then run a rinse cycle
