Those new Hereu slingback clogs are gorgeous. Straight onto my Saved list, the better to admire from afar until they sell out.

I've ordered more sofas for the what-are-they-thinking grumpy curmudgeon corner :)

OftenOrange · 29/06/2023 19:12

@@dudsville I know how you feel once the thought that something is off arrives.
I’ve 3 pairs Arizona :
Stone nubuck from Toast ….top pick for dresses
Black leather with black sole ….fave for jeans or black trousers.
Tan vegetarian ….blackstrap so not pure Arizona ….fave all rounder , with dresses, denim and rough walking . Wear like iron.

Stravaig · 29/06/2023 19:27

@dudsville Oh that's so true, very much a joy in the beauty of the everyday! My saving grace is the awkward marriage of expensive tastes with minimalism, a genuine discomfort with too-much.

dudsville · 29/06/2023 19:28

That's a beautiful description @Stravaig, i admire that!

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 29/06/2023 19:41

@dudsville would the suede Arizona work with your more relaxed trousers?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/06/2023 19:53

I've ordered both colours of the stripe cotton cashmere socks. They are thin but I love the ones I bought in the last sale. Have worn to death.

Stoic123 · 29/06/2023 20:06

Replacement cord culottes have arrived and customer service is refunding £15 price difference.

Had to sit on my hands to prevent me immediately buying some socks with the refund. I really like some of the new season socks so danger may have averted.

I have two pairs of diamond trousers (stripe and block) on the way and that is, hopefully, that. Counting the damage.

lordloveadog · 29/06/2023 20:30

Before the sale I ordered the Embroidered Textured Cotton Dress and it has now arrived and I am in a dilemma about it.

The colours and pattern are fabulous. It fits perfectly to below bust. But then it is very loosely cut and also has slits up the sides. This means that it's only really suitable as an informal summer kaftan.

But the fabric is quite thick cotton, so you couldn't wear it on a really hot day. Maybe summer evenings. But that is a very specific slot for a dress.

mizu · 29/06/2023 20:33

@dudsville I have black leather Arizonas which I've worn to death and I've just noticed the cork is splitting on the right one. I also have Birkenstock Zurich in light brown leather which are gorgeously comfortable.

Have been looking at getting suede arizonas in taupe but @MiracleToast has got me looking at the oiled leather tobacco ones and they look so good.

MiracleToast · 29/06/2023 20:38

@mizu those are next on my list if the fracap mules don’t work out!

MiracleToast · 29/06/2023 20:40

@lordloveadog could you wear it with navy cotton leggings under? And with the belt it comes with? I feel that would be so gorgeous

lordloveadog · 29/06/2023 20:43

@MiracleToast too much fabric to use the belt. They must have done some serious pinning on the model.

Teenagers are against it. And really I agree it is too expensive for an informal holiday-wear dress.

Will return but would buy again in a sale.

faustina · 29/06/2023 16:33

@dudsville - thank you - I like balloon too and have only ever had a poplin shirt from Toast which I found a bit noisy, though it was also too big, so I ebayed that

I love poplin. It’s my absolute favourite fabric. I bought the navy and copper but both two big do are on their way back and I have 10s coming. I found the 12 marginally long at 5’7 but I think it’s because they were sitting so low and hoping the 10 will sit slightly higher. The button fly surprised me!

Hope you can understand despite autocorrect!

OP posts:
faustina · 29/06/2023 20:49

@ilovecherries - I did wonder about the copper, because the taupe (?) only have 8s left, and the copper is a beautiful colour, but too close to the 9768 similar coloured trousers already in my wardrobe (only a slight exaggeration!). I am really trying to buy only where there's a gap this sale! Hope the 10s are lovely on you!

MiracleToast · 29/06/2023 20:50

@lordloveadog ah that’s such a shame and very sneaky for the photos not not accurately represent how it looks

faustina · 29/06/2023 20:52

yes - easy to understand thanks, and I have just reread and see you mention they're long on you and you're three inches taller than me. It will all hinge on rolling up possibilities!

lordloveadog · 29/06/2023 20:54

I suppose it's possible that someone with a much straighter figure might be able to wear a much smaller size and so use the belt, but to fit my shoulders and bust I need the XL, which leaves acres of fabric below bust. Have often been surprised here by how differently different garments work on different body shapes.

ilovecherries · 29/06/2023 20:59

This is a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question, but I really don’t know the answer. So having spent many years of my life very overweight I now at a ‘normal’ weight really struggle with how clothes should fit. With tops I can use my shoulders as landmarks. But with trousers - how much should you be able to pull the waist out? Is it normal to have to give a little shimmy over the hips? How loose should these linen balloon-y trousers be on the legs? I suspect I always buy things too big and then they stretch out with wear as well. I seem to have boxes if things that don’t fit.

Hello all, I've been a long time Toast shopper but haven't bought much in the last few seasons so no idea what this new sizing entails.
Anyone tried this crinkled pinafore dress and can advise? Not that helpful to know the model is wearing XS when there's nothing about her measurements other than height!

I’ve just sent back a medium that was too big on a size 12. I found the neck uncomfortably high but I do have three surgical scars on my neck and I hate anything touching them, it gives them that weird twitchy nerve feeling.

ilovecherries · 29/06/2023 21:16

I’m also 32G and the bib part was fine,, it’s was beneath that was too big.

OP posts:
clowniform · 29/06/2023 21:28

Thanks, @ilovecherries I would only wear this layered over stuff so good to bear necklines in mind!
As for trousers it's so dependent on shape as well as size I think? I'm pear shaped so always expect to have to shimmy a bit over hips/arse: if trousers pull on totally effortlessly over those they will inevitably be miles too big at the waist. I only wear the Toast side button and elastic waisted trousers for that reason: possible to adjust to fit me. With the proper button flies etc. it's unavoidably clear that they just aren't cut for my shape and sizing up or down wouldn't help.

dudsville · 29/06/2023 21:29

@lordloveadog ,i just looked at that dress, hate side slits, in tops and jumpers too, so that would result about me. It could be cute with leggings, but as you say, quite pricey for lounge wear.

@ilovecherries , personally with my shape hips but with a defined waist, i often have to shimmy, to size up looks ridiculous. I think it depends on your shape.

I haven't tried it @clowniform , but hi!

I'm trying a few more jackets before the sale ends because I'm irresponsible with my own money it seems. I've got "summer jacket" as something I feel I need. I bought the firewood cord jacket, which is thin but doesn't say "summer".

I'm sitting on the oil brown arizonas, I'm not confident. I think the black ones probably do the trick and maybe it's only because i have both in the bostons that i feel something's missing.

I sized down in this dress. I bought it at full price. I originally bought my normal size and it looked ridiculous. It has a tulip shaped skirt.
