Morning!

@dudsville - I keep going back to the red check but the pattern is too triggering- I will keep looking…

@ScottishMouse - yes, the indigo was on my wishlist but all the talk of dye transfer from some of the indigo clothes put me off. Was this one of the ‘shedders’? I think I would need a 10 in this one from the reviews.

Re: Sail stripe: Before I send it back, does anyone have feedback on whether the material softens with washing? Also, does it shrink?

I really want a summer dress from the sale and am reluctant to send everything back🙃
Thanks

ScottishMouse · 27/06/2023 08:30

@Dee1224 I never tried this one, I’m afraid. The dye transfer from the one I bought is super annoying, but I have had Toast indigo items in the past and a few washes has normally sorted them out. So maybe worth considering if it appears back in a 10.

dudsville · 27/06/2023 08:45

Yeah it's certainly not all of their denim. I have a denim wrap dress (turned into a pinafore as it was too much heavy fabric) and it didn't do this, also a skirt.

dudsville · 27/06/2023 08:46

Oh and some blue denim trousers were also fine!

Dee1224 · 27/06/2023 08:46

Thanks, guys!

Linen - even quite cheap stuff, which this isn’t - softens and relaxes with use. If it’s only a smidge tight, it’s worth even now just easing it out a little in every direction. You can often get a good 1-2cm of ease.

Thanks@ilovecherries - I like the colour of the sail stripe but at the moment the material is very stiff - like a sail in fact! If I knew it would definitely soften, I might keep it.

In the meantime, I am going to email toast about the very noticeable flaws on the front and see what they say.

About to try it on again…

Its strange because it is often reported.. but I have never experienced a Toast indigo ( or other dye )transfer problem..I have several pieces in indigo - hemp mariner trousers, the latest panel trousers plus several other garments dresses and jackets over the years..
I dont wash things before I wear either.. one thing It may be though is possibly a reaction to body/ sun creams cosmetics etc ir perhaps simply skin type? . I am extraordinary lazy and d ont use cosmetics or body lotion despite my dry skin type, and never wear perfume either..
Just use bog standard shower gel and shampoos plus cheapy roll on deodorant and that's it .. I am not very good at sun cream either ( although I should be better at this because have fair skin) so maybe thats why I haven't experienced dye transfer on my Toast clothes..

FiddleFigs · 27/06/2023 10:19

@Dee1224 I have the indigo trapeze dress and haven't had any problems with dye transfer - it bleeds a bit in the wash, but hasn't come off on my while wearing. It's a lovely dress - nice and swishy.

Dee1224 · 27/06/2023 10:25

Thanjs@FiddleFigs - I will watch out for returns

Dee1224 · 27/06/2023 10:33

I have put the red gingham check away after trying it again. It’s so lovely, but I can’t have a dress I have to avoid looking at!

Faulty Pond going back, as are weird linen trousers.

If anyone is looking for a chalk round collared tee in S, that’s going back too. I would have kept it if it had been the same size as the black S, but it was much smaller. Shame as it’s lovely.

Laska2Meryls · 27/06/2023 10:58

@Stoic123 I meant to say re that kaftan.. The first time I washed it I had to untangle the cotton tassels as the fibres had got matted at the ends.. ( not fun) so now every time I do now , I bind the ends right up tightly in elastic and tie them so that the tassels are fully encased before washing. This has stopped further damage .. ( I use a couple of lengths of elastic lace as its lightweight and stretchy) . Have washed it loads now and it's fine and has kept its colour well .
Here is how I do it to show you.. I just unwrap after its out of the machine to dry..

Stravaig · 27/06/2023 11:39

@Laska2Meryls That's a great technique!

dudsville · 27/06/2023 11:41

Smart technique!

Laska2Meryls · 27/06/2023 11:56

Thanks.. I just get so annoyed when things like that happen and ruin the look of a garment..

I don’t know - I set the dye release off the minute I open the bag. My hands can be covered before I get the thing on. I never learn though, simply because it’s so beautiful. I do almost bathe in fecking factor 50 I’ve had so many small skin cancers. But even my knickers etc will be covered in dye.

However, just to demonstrate that I never learn, the Mariners came back in stock briefly in a 12, so…

🤣@ilovecherries

BettinaInDenmark · 27/06/2023 12:40

I have been metaphorically beating myself up since Saturday:
Among some stuff I bought from Toast in January were 3 pair of trousers - linen balloon trousers in copper, Alix indigo gingham trousers indigo/toffee, and linen trousers in marsh blue - that I simply cannot find. Everything else from that shipment is located, and I have checked that I didn't return them.
I know that my wardrobe is a mess because I have too little space, but now I have searched almost everywhere in the house, including the basement/cellar, and in every nook that I use to squirrel things away. They are nowhere to find.
How stupid is that?

Dee1224 · 27/06/2023 12:40

Upon reflection, I don’t think I can put up with the flaws in the material of the sail stripe dress as they are right at the front in the chest area. They are three dark slubby bits of material but they look like stains to anyone looking 🙃

Dee1224 · 27/06/2023 12:42

Oh dear @BettinaInDenmark - I feel your pain- hope they turn up!

BettinaInDenmark · 27/06/2023 12:44

@Dee1224 yes, as soon as one starts to focus on flaws like that, they will always feel noticeable, and spoil the fun.

I had that sail stripe sundress delivered in my parcel with "sale goods take 2" yesterday, so thanks for the hint - I will make sure to look extra carefully out for any faults/flaws in the material with obvious placement

BettinaInDenmark · 27/06/2023 12:49

Thanks @Dee1224 - I'm trying to get the thought of those 3 pairs out of my head, hoping that they will just materialize out of nowhere sometime soon.

Well, the search for them was not totally fruitless. I found a Toast box with a dress and jacket while searching. Maybe I'm too much of a shop-aholic...
