Styling conversation is on the 12th July about the new stock for AW [ I noticed it on the website a few days ago] I think the sale will have come to an end by then at least. Can't say for sure, just from past experience.

Snailsaresweet · 24/06/2023 09:16

Ooh, thank you @neveradullmoment99 and @OftenOrange - I'll hang on a bit!

ScottishMouse · 24/06/2023 09:29

Have ironed and tried on the dresses that arrived last night again this morning. Think both the sleeveless denim dress and the deep v neck pinafore are keepers. The only thing is that the straps on the pinafore are going to fall down when wearing it. Has anyone shortened these on this dress?

I have that dress in the brownish colour [ the deep v neck one] Paid full price! I have worn it and the shoulders did fall down but it wasn't too bad. I think it would look better shortened though and also fit better. Ive not tried it.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 09:37

You could just tack it from the inside and see how you go on? Not cut anything?

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 09:37

Think it would be fine.

ScottishMouse · 24/06/2023 09:39

Good idea @neveradullmoment99 , I might try that. I’m going to wear it today as is and see how I go. I think it would look better shortened too (and the sleeveless denim dress also, they are both very long), but I can’t be bothered to be honest.
I love the tawny brown colour, would have chosen that over the slate but it was oos.

dudsville · 24/06/2023 09:52

Argh, some more sale arrived today and I now know that I accidentlly ordered the navy boatneck tee in an xs!!!!!! I need an L or XL. Soooooooo annoying. Of course it's sold out The black boaneck is great, glad to have it. I'm going to have a think whether to keep the black emma but I'm likely to return it as I don't wear a lot of black. I really like the olive striped tee, it's not my colour but it will be a fun layer.

The indigo stripe trousers in the ridiculous size 10 (having previously tried them in a 12) are perfect and I'm glad to have them. The ticking stripe trousers in an M, I'm pretty sure I'm keeping as I'd tried them presale to be prepared. Then you may recall in my rush to order between meetings I forgot that I'd also ordered the check linen trousers, also M - I need to really have a think whether I will wear these. These sizes are a good fit for my size 14 bottom with a waist as they lessen the amount of fabric to something that looks normally oversized rather than comically oversized.

Dresses arriving Monday. I need to really think about my spend. I can afford it, I squirrel away nearly half my income each month into savings, but it doesn't align with my values/ethics to sqander that. On the other hand, I don't go on holidays anymore, don't do any other shopping.... I may return some knitwear to ease my mind!

dudsville · 24/06/2023 09:58

I just saw that navy boatneck is still available in an M so I'm going to check the fit. My L in black is nicely loose so I anticipate this will be fitted at best but worth a shot.

I have done this. It because the xs is highlighted by default. Its very annoying!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 10:01

The boatnecks are quite neat fitting. Mine were a medium prior to the new sizing and now I have the large. Weird thing is the large are not very neat on me at the neck, seem more gaping. Very annoying.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 10:02

I have the navy one. It is very useful. I prefer the length to the emma half sleeves.

Trinitybean · 24/06/2023 10:13

MiracleToast · 23/06/2023 23:40

@Trinitybean it was the faded floral block print in sepia. I was a fool to let it get away!

Did yours sell out at first and then was restocked?

@MiracleToast yes mine sold out and then reappeared, assumed it was a return but it let me add two to my basket, I was seeing how low stock was! Fingers crossed yours comes back.

MiracleToast · 24/06/2023 10:16

Thanks @Trinitybean that gives me hope!

That’s how I ended up ordering two pairs of size 4 trousers. Really annoying. I noticed it on the dispatch email so I was able to place another order for the 12s but it’s money sitting out for returns then. They should really have a pop-up that says ‘hey, are you sure? Your bum is usually bigger than that!’ 😂

Met a friend for lunch yesterday. She was wearing the Denim Utility Dress (in sale) and looked really fabulous in it. The colour wouldn't suit me but I thought would mention in case any of you were looking at it.

OftenOrange · 24/06/2023 10:52

First outing for the Winter sale nightie; wore it with Fracap sandals to the market just now. Lovely and cool.
I think @Laska2Meryls was going to wear it with the Fenugreek linen trousers, I’m going to try that as I find the length slightly too short .

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 10:57

Looks absolutley beautiful on you @OftenOrange ! Love it!

dudsville · 24/06/2023 11:03

Thanks for the sympathy @neveradullmoment99, and they absoltely should at @ilovecherries !!!

That is perfect @OftenOrange , wonderful "dress"!!!!!

I do have the navy in an emma so I'm consoling myself. I'm definitely sending the black emma back, too hard on me that close to my face, whereas the boat neck version just gives that little but more space, and I plan to wash it a lot and look forward to it fading. I'm reserving some hope for the medium blue boatneck having just tried on my tees. The large is swingy on me and there's room in the bust, and I also have a white XL that is veeeery oversized - I love it a lot though for a proper slouchy look and I just tried it on with the space check trousers and liked that outfit a lot so I'm keeping them! Ditto the ticking stripe trousers.

Having gone through everything, I could possibly have returned I considered the rosewood cord jacket, it's not the most useful colour, but it's cute and only £60/65, and anyway I can't find the tag.

I also consider the purple neat cardigan but, having said that my DH did not like my clothes, he has been much more verbal since I mentioned it to him, and he complimented it straight away. Again, for the price too, it's a great item.

I then picked up the yak sweater and he was hesitant, saying it was ok. It's super cosy and I thought would be a wonderful replacement for my "home" jumper that I recently shrank, but I think one of my reasons for liking this again is history. When I was 18 I moved out and was living hundreds of miles away from family in a sort of volunteer residential community. I stayed there for a few years. We were given a tiny stipend, and with it I bought my own clothing for the first time, and one of the items was a jumper very like this (but probably pure polyester!). I lived in that thing for years. BUT, this is not a great addition to my wardrobe and when I thought about it it would be my least favourite, so the least worn. So the yak sweater is my sacrificial lamb to ease my conscience!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 11:07

and in no way looks like a nightdress!

So more sale purchase came:
Pink smoke linen tunic is a fail for me. There is what looks like a pen mark on the placard. In a large it is far too big on me across the shoulders and weirdly gapes at the bust. Also the sleeves are neat at the button. Clearly someone has tried this on, maybe even worn it. The cuff buttons were undone. Its a nice lovelycolour and length but it looks really shapeless.
I had re-ordered the elm dress in a 10. It is still pretty big everywhere but it looks nice on the bust and it is a beautiful check and surprisingly love it with the belt. I thought it would be too fussy but it isn't really. It is really see through. May brave it on a hot day or wear a slip under it. I think I will keep it at only £65 I think it was. The yellow check vest is also huge. Strangely it looks ok but I could have easily sized down to a small. I may return it.

MiracleToast · 24/06/2023 11:08

That looks so gorgeous on you @OftenOrange !!!

I am wearing the pyjamas in this print—oh how I wish I had also bought the nightdress now I’ve seen it on you.

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 24/06/2023 11:08

I like your justification @dudsville !

The hemp mariner trousers arrived and they are lovely material. Unfortunately they have that long crotch toast trousers sometimes have so bulge if I lean over or sit down. Really sad as otherwise perfect but thinking of @Stravaig comments about not buying trousers that dont fit right!

To console myself I went back into the sale and spent £300 😱i find at this stage of the sale a kind of madness takes hold!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/06/2023 11:09

A mixed bag. Disappointed by the tunic but a bit relieved to be returning something!

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 24/06/2023 11:09

Cross posted with a lot of messages. Looks great @OftenOrange !

BettinaInDenmark · 24/06/2023 11:17

@dudsville yes, I can see that my first mail-order (by phone, not webshop) was probably done around 2007.
But the silk kimono was bought on a trip to the UK, many many moons ago. I can see on the price tag that it had been reduced several times, from £225 ending on £65. Toast sale prices were really more fun back then :)
I have had a very long love affair with Toast items; goes back to when Jamie and Jessie Seaton started the company. I was very much in love with their knitting designs for Rowan back in the days, and when they started Toast it was a no-brainer to continue the love.
