@Stravaig and @Alpacasoft - also find Toast trousers problematic (although like the flat fronted denim jeans).

I bought 3 pairs of cords last winter. The 2 Seasalt pairs (at about 1/3 of the price of the Toast one) are loads more flattering so rarely wore the Toast ones. Having said that, I'm giving the cord culottes (that keep appearing in sales) a try (on the way) so definitely a matter of hope over experience.

I have those cord culottes !

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I like your style
October is not that far off !

@Stravaig , what a great critique, and I've learned something to boot!

@ilovecherries , another fabulous dress! I think you may need to show us your toast wardrobe so that we know what we're dealing with here though!😂

@OftenOrange , sometimes things I assume will be just right, aren't. And things I think I'll just try on a whim turn out to be wonderful keepers.

That's annoying @Nanasueathome . What was the time frame between your purchase and the sale?

I’d be far too embarrassed to show you my wardrobe. It’s - um - extensive. I buy a lot pre-loved though and (until I got told off by my tailor), I was quite happy to buy something that needed a bit of fitting to make it perfect. I do tend to haunt eBay looking for stuff from about 2015 onwards but I have very firm upper limits for what I will pay. I don’t care how much I want it, I’m not paying full price for something someone has had rolled up in the back of their wardrobe for 10 years, even if it does still have the label on.

I do have a couple of things I need to move on. I have two cotton chambray dresses that I thought I loved but as soon as I put them on I’m transported back to my early nursing days. I fear I look like I’m about to audition for Call the Midwife in them. I re-tried one the other day, intending to force myself to wear it, when my dd asked the time and I was horrified to find myself looking not at my smart new Apple Watch but on my boob for my nurse’s fob. That’s how much they anchor me to the 70s!

@dudsville I am the one planning to wear trousers under the bryn dress, unless it's too small. I have so other shirt dresses (not actual proper dresses) that I wear with culottes. I loved that fashion in the late 90s early 00s!

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:40

@ilovecherries that’s hilarious 🤣

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:41

@dudsville - I love that dress on you. Is it the Landscape?

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:43

Re: the Bryn dress. I tried it in the light green/yellow colour way in Medium and it was massive, particularly on the shoulders. I think I could have gone Small, (at least), despite being a ‘good’ high street 12 irl.

that is good to know (well more so for me than you). It's new sizing as well, so all bets are off!

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:50

Indeed @FufferPish - I have very small shoulders, (as I used to be superthin before age and my nana’s genes kicked in😂), so the medium was massive. It’s a lovely dress, though.

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2023 18:50

My dresses arrived. I gambled on sizing for all three, and only one doesn’t fit.
indigo stripe shirt dress - too big in a 12, though the 10 would have been tight on the bust. Not sure I love it anyway.
Sleeveless denim dress and pinafore (the one with the deep v front) both fit in a 10. I only had a very quick try as they arrived just a few mins ago and I am heading out. They are very creased though, so it’s hard to tell. Initial impressions are that the pleats on the pinafore might not sit that well on my large stomach, and I’m not sure how great the combination of high neck and no sleeves of the denim one looks on a larger chest and short neck.
i’ll try them again tomorrow and keep in mind the 4 key rules for decision making!

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:52

My chalk round collar tee is arriving. As I went quite mad yesterday when Pond dropped, I suspect it will be going straback😂

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:52

Arriving tomorrow, that should have read!

Dee1224 · 23/06/2023 18:53

And straight back! I hate autocorrect 😾

Countmeout · 23/06/2023 18:58

A couple of broad check dresses have appeared. Think someone was hoping for one.

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2023 19:02

Sleeveless denim dress owners - what do you style it with? I’m thinking I would mostly want to wear something underneath or a cardi over.
And does the indigo transfer badly?

I have it. I wear an emma half sleeve under it. I have various from stripe to plain. They all look good. Transfer is a pain on to my hands when I put them in my pocket. Ive not had it on to clothes. Its still not great and Ive washed it quite a lot.

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2023 19:10

Ah yes, I remember you saying this @neveradullmoment99 . Would you say the transfer would be a deal breaker had you known before buying?
I’ll try with various tops tomorrow, and test my hands in the pockets for a while!

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2023 19:12

Oh and who did I snatch the sleeveless denim dress in a 10 from under the nose of? Sorry I can’t remember!

No. Its a lovely dress. I am glad I have it. Its just when I put my hands in my pockets. I just wouldnt wear a light coloured tee under it. I have plenty of others I can put under it. It has never transferred onto those. Is a great dress.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 19:31

I am a 14 and I have the 12. I could have sized down at the time to a 10. I was more of a 12/14 then. Its a very flattering dress. Beautifully cut across the bust. It really is lovely.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 19:31

The 10 should fit you well.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 19:32

Maybe washing it with a bit of salt might fix it more.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 19:32

You know, a bit of a hand wash if it continues to transfer. I might do that.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 19:33

It is one of the most worn dresses I have. Definitely worth it.

That was me, I can’t keep up with the restock and selling out on toast, I’ve missed the 10 again.

I’m not too worried at the moment as the pebble dress is arriving tomorrow, and I have made another dress purchase on Vinted Blush .
