Yes, I’m kindred

Stoic123 · 23/06/2023 15:21

So annoying to have bought things just before the sale.

The panelled linen dress I bought has been reduced by £90 but at least I've had chance to wear it. I've never worn the clay denim trousers and they are now £50 cheaper - but they were bought on 1st March so it was quite a while back.

ilovecherries · 23/06/2023 15:26

Will it not let you generate a return on their website - I’ve been able to do that up to about 10 days after the return period has passed and if you have the label they accept the return.

Though tbh, I’m always conflicted about this. I used to run a small business with occasional promos which always generated a slew of ‘I paid full price x number of weeks ago, so can I have the discount/additional item now’. The answer for me really had to be no - my promos were part of an overall marketing strategy, I really couldn’t be offering them the whole time, the entire point was to drive sales during a particular period when I had spare capacity. I never ask for a backdated reduction for that reason - though not averse to using the leeway mentioned above, which feels fair game. I know it’s annoying though as a customer.

Ive had dresses not worn much. Infact, I have the deep v neck one and have only worn it once. Its reduced by quite a bit from the original price. I really wanted it at the time and had a feeling it would be in the sale, especially in the brownish colour, and it is.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 15:37

I think the best is to never buy at full price unless you risk it going out of stock. The prices in the sale are so discounted. I think that is why I waited for the pond dress. The clothes are actually just too expensive full price now.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 15:38

I'm going to wait for the Maeve dress. Will watch it to see if it is low stock. If i miss out, chances are some stock will be in the next sale. They seem to do that.

Ventureintheslipstream · 23/06/2023 15:48

Hi, has anyone tried the frill sleeve cotton poplin top?

Wondering if it will be too short in the body and too big across the shoulders....?

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 16:00

Sounds weird when reading how much all of us have bought in the sale, but I'm a bit surprised how much/how many sizes are actually still available.
Looks like the sale is moving a bit slower than usual. Maybe it's just a sign of the recession times

Stoic123 · 23/06/2023 16:07

@neveradullmoment99 - yes, it's full price for must haves. I would have been deeply disappointed to lose out on the panelled dress so full price was worth it. The clay trousers, in hindsight, should have waited till sale.

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 16:23

I can feel an obsession with gowns/kimono's coming on after having seen the crosshatch in the sale. Then suddenly remembered that I have an old Toast silk one that I've never used, and I would like your input: Can it be used as a light jacket/coat or would it just look ridiculous?

FufferPish · 23/06/2023 16:38

Did anyone try this dress? I wanted to buy the small, but annoyingly work meetings and running between buildings got in the way, so only XS left, which I ordered. The reviews mention that it is running larger in any case.

I am planning to wear it with wide culottes underneath as I did in the late 90s 😀

@FufferPish
I don't know about the sizing, but it's a beautiful dress. It was sold out in most sizes before put on sale, so disappointing

It is stunningly beautiful! I would say it would look fabulous over plain black. Statement piece.

Stoic123 · 23/06/2023 16:53

@BettinaInDenmark - not ridiculous.

I'd wear with something very plain and casual (jeans and tee) and might consider getting shortened. I'd also probably wear without the tie (but don't like belted things anyway).

Gorgeous colours.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 16:54

I try putting trousers under a dress but I just look strange unless the dress is to the knee. Even with leggings it looks weird on me. I am average height too. I would love to embrace this look.

Yes, wear it open without the tie.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2023 16:55

Or tie it behind you.

MiracleToast · 23/06/2023 16:58

I really wish I had bought the sepia quilt in the sale, I was foolishly waiting for it to be further discounted and then it disappeared. Do any of you have it? Are quilts likely to be returned or restocked?

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 16:59

Thanks @Stoic123 and @neveradullmoment99 for your inputs.
Yes, I would not wear the tie.
Maybe wearing a longish black Toast linen dress under it would be nice

FufferPish · 23/06/2023 16:59

@BettinaInDenmark that is weird, why would it be sold out full price and then appear in many sizes in the sale?

Love your kimono, btw, that will look lovely over a neutral base (including culottes) as well. I'm

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 17:02

@FufferPish Don't know. I think I looked at it at the start of sale and IIRC at least L and XL was gone, and when it entered the sale, only smaller sizes were left

BettinaInDenmark · 23/06/2023 17:04

@FufferPish And I was hoping to get it in the sale, but reluctantly have ordered the reflections print instead. Looks like that one is almost sold out now also

Saurus72 · 23/06/2023 17:08

@FufferPish I bought that dress full price when it first appeared back in the spring, it’s been a great buy, very flattering. Re:sizing - I’m a real life curvy 14 and bought a medium which is a perfect fit. Fingers crossed you love it!

dudsville · 23/06/2023 18:01

OooOoooo@BettinaInDenmark , that's lovely! I'm envious when folks have history with toast, mine only goes back 5 or 6 yrs, and at the beginning i only bought trousers (and made mostly wrong choices!).

That bryn dress is wonderful @FufferPish . I won't buy it but it was nice to see it and the scarves added to the sale.

I can't find it upthread (it's very fast pace at the moment!), who's wearing trousers under dressed and please can we see a pic?

That’s so beautiful. I’d go very casual underneath with it and really let the gown do the talking. But it deserves to live a full and happy life - a gown like that shouldn’t live in a wardrobe.
