Sorry Mavis, I don't think they do! Grin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/06/2023 18:20

But the last lot I bought, they were under a pound each.

FilthyRich · 26/06/2023 18:21

I'm tempted to visit Waitrose now. I have a tiny unopened Body Shop one but...

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/06/2023 18:24

And, if you like Waitrose, I suspect you would love Booths, which is only in the North I think. They do tissues, in round cylindrical boxes which are a thing of beauty.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/06/2023 18:45

I'm really bad for not trying own brand toiletries, the big brand marketers have really done a number on me haven't they? :/

I berate myself constantly for prizing expensive skincare over cheap. Ridiculous! And my £95 Avant night cream, my £48 Avant lip scrub, and my £90-odd Avant primer really aren’t all that, there are much cheaper brands that I like better. (I only paid a fraction of the price for all those, the brand is in beauty boxes ALL THE TIME, I reckon they have to charge so much RRP because of all the stuff they give away to beauty box companies.)

BluebellBlueballs · 26/06/2023 19:07

I succumbed to the Sunday Riley best of box, exclusive to Space NK but comes with free gift of SR minis which made the £85 price tag seem worth it.

I bought it mainly for the ceo serum, I lole z good vit c serum and you get the big size one with lots of extras. Would recommend.

IndianSummer78 · 27/06/2023 00:25

Frantically Google's nearest Waitrose whilst experiencing major FOMO

Experiment627 · 27/06/2023 04:04

@MavisMcMinty I am like your opposite! I love discovering "budget" beauty that does the job the same or better than more expensive stuff! That said I do have some blocks (which I am trying to break down) around "allowing" myself more expensive things. And my green eyed monster has appeared since learning a friend of mine has gone all in with Tatcha products.

I have had a big sort out of everything and have listed everything and which box it is in - so I am organised, not sure how long that will last.

I have used up the following;

Ultrasun Face Suntan Lotion - another couple of these in a box
L'Occitane Precious Cream - this was in an Amenity Pack from one of the flights and I really liked it.
Schwartkopf Hair Spray - does the job well and lasts ages.
Dove Sun Tan Gradual Moisturiser - I took this to UK with me to use up and it works well.
Flex Apple Shampoo - more than enough shampoo for the rest of the year.
Nuxe Dry Oil - I really like this, smells good and lasts for ages. I have more!

Takes me to 48 out of 96 so half way there. I cannot show a photo as my husband has cleared them out for recycling.

vjg13 · 27/06/2023 06:22

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I liked those tissues until my daughter said they reminded her of the containers that we have had the ashes for our dogs returned in and I can't not see that now! Shock

I’ve been so bad lately and completely burned through my savings buying beauty products. I’m going to try and do no buy July, I literally don’t need a single thing, I just have zero self control. Might need some emotional support!! I would really like to save for a holiday! 😳

Have you tried going through your entire stash and catagorising it? I think it can be good to put numbers to things, then when you are out your brain can remind you 'I already have 20 body lotions'.

StarryNightAddict · 27/06/2023 10:32

Haha yes I have! I’m unfortunately easily influenced and have an overwhelming need to try every product on the market 🤣

I am pretty good with immediately returning things I don’t like but that’s about all I have going for me 🤣

FilthyRich · 27/06/2023 10:53

@StarryNightAddict , I recently did what @LivingDeadGirlUK suggested and it helped.
There was a disparity between what I thought I have and what I actually do have, probably because they weren't all in one place.

Easy to have something like a lipbalm in all sorts of places without realising that you have a stash of over 20 unopened ones and 12 half-used Grin .

StarryNightAddict · 27/06/2023 11:07

Lip balms are my kryptonite! 🤣 I have them all over the house, car, every bag lol

FilthyRich · 27/06/2023 11:32

Me too, yet I sometimes manage to go out without one on me. Smile

PomRuns · 27/06/2023 12:53

Few empties:
Garner intensive 7 days - HG for me.
Body shop drops of youth - was good - I have lots of serums to use up though.
Cult51 night cream. Loved it, will rp if can justify the price. Perfect for my dry skin.
Haekaels hand balm - did not like the smell, was otherwise ok.
Bossa Soap - very nice smell and texture.
Lancome definicils. Think they have changed the formula, not as good as was.
Aesop Hand balm - was ok, not as good as L'occitane.
Sarah Chapman Platinum stem cell (really!) eye mask. Was rubbish, very drying.

49/80
Lost count of samples - think 18?

The worst thing about those ubiquitous sheet masks is wondering which side to put on your face. Those ones that say “peel off the paper backing…” then - “peel off the plastic backing” when both backings look very like plastic to me. I once rubbished a 111Skin sheet mask in a review, then realised, embarrassed, that I’d peeled neither backing off, no wonder it didn’t “fit well”!

Fraaahnces · 28/06/2023 02:37

I get really claustrophobic when I use a sheet mask! It took me ages to realise what it was b/c I’m not the most observant…. I become increasingly anxious until I remove it.

Fraaahnces · 28/06/2023 03:26

Hada Labo Goku-Jyun Alpha Anti-ageing Firming & Lifting Cream (red pot). Lovely, rich cream with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and mild retinol. I love this in the winter time. I have used this on and off for years. It is lovely on the “neck and dec” and I feel that the combo of tranexamic acid serum and this (plus sunscreen if uncovered) has slowly but thoroughly healed very visible open capillaries from sun damage. I had stopped using tranexamic serum for a while and the capillaries tried to come back, btw. Have an even higher-concentration TA serum now than I previously used. Will see if that changes things. This is never sticky or heavy, but it’s a substantial formula, great for winter. The gel cream version has higher retinol and sunscreen in it. (Not enough to use alone imo.) I would buy again, but have the gel cream in my stash. (It comes in a bigger pot, too.)

Thank You Farmer Rice Pure Gel & Cream (white pot) is my new addiction. It has a juicy, firming, hydrating gel on the outside and blooped into the middle is a cooling, nutritious, moisturising cream so you can adjust to your needs. (I did 50/50). I found this added glow and strengthened my skin barrier in a lovely, soothing way while being light and playing well with makeup. I found I reapplied it several times a day, not because I needed it, but because it is cold, dry and windy here atm and it feels so nice. (I have two in backup.)

Sorry about your dogs @vjg13 . I know what you mean, the image is there for you now. If I find an interesting box in a different shape I'll try and remember to tag you.

I was mooching on Liberty, and looking at the Ultra violette veil stuff. It looks wondrous, but can anyone tell me if it is good? I feel my beauty credit is calling for me to spaff some of it on something like that.

Also, anyone know of a good exfoliator I can use on my face in the shower, that is a normal colour, and not duckpoo green like the Kate Somerville stuff we had not too long ago?!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/06/2023 05:18

Because I can't sleep, I've been looking at the Trish McEvoy wallet system on Liberty for holding your make up in a file. This would of course be absolutely life changing. It seems that the palette {magnetic?} holds all your cannibalised powder blushers, face powder, eye shadow etc.

Anybody tried it or got any thoughts? I'm kind of hoping someone will say they thought it was a bit shiz on closer inspection!

MavisMcMinty · 28/06/2023 06:43

I really like the Gatineau “gommage”, it’s really quick and easy. They do two, be careful not to get the “Peeling Expert” one because that’s really messy and a right pain to use. The one I like is like a pearlescent gel, you put it on, leave it alone for a couple of minutes until it becomes loose and wet, then rinse off (in the shower). Very gentle, no scrubbing required.

Look on QVC for bargains.
