I'm using small items first so I get a quick win!

MavisMcMinty · 11/06/2023 18:07

Well don’t blame me when your scaly-skinned neighbours come round wanting to buy/exchange your lovely big pots.

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 19:03

My neighbour look far less scaly-faced than me. Smile
The big ones are fairly bog standard just moisturisers. I think if I decanted a bit into a smallish pretty jar, it would look more inviting. The trouble with that is I forget what it was unless I scribble on a description.

I find tubes annoying because of how much is left in an 'empty' tube, and I do cut them and scoop out the dregs.

Puravida23 · 12/06/2023 11:27

I hate to enable beauty addicts but if anyone is in the market for a new beauty box I have just received the harvey nicks wellness edit , on offer at £50 at the moment and I am thrilled. I got it because I wanted to try the KS delicate and the SR Luna oil with the others nice to have and will be used but hadn’t realised I would get 5 eye masks not just one so extra bonus Wellness box

MavisMcMinty · 12/06/2023 11:50

Oh wow, that looks great! Think I’ll email my sister with the link, as it’s my birthday next month…

Puravida23 · 12/06/2023 12:19

@MavisMcMinty the box is really heavy too and smells gorgeous

StarryNightAddict · 12/06/2023 12:19

Some empties, gotta justify my shopping somehow 🤪

body shop banana hair mask smells nice but didn’t love enough to repurchase.
Frank body coffee and coconut scrub I love this and have repurchased several times, makes a huge mess of the shower though.
the ordinary niacinamide didn’t see a noticeable difference.
big pot of my beloved SDJ coco cabana cream have a big pot and a small pot left, will cry when they’re gone.
urban decay setting spray so good but trialling some cheaper options.
too faced better than sex mascara not empty just throwing it away because I really hate it.

I think that’s it 😅

Fraaahnces · 12/06/2023 12:28

I finished another Clio Mascara. I have a few unopened in my stash so won’t repurchase. (yet…) Also finished the dregs of another aged tube of Purito Cica Clearing BB Cream (from my work makeup bag.) You know when there’s so little left, you have to violently shake it down and when you squeeze it, it does mini sharts on your hand? That’s how much was left.
Meanwhile, it makes me feel better about the Rituel de Fille box that arrived today. The foundation is soooo nice! Don’t get me started on the eyeshadows! Think I have found the successor to Urban Decay’s Soace Cowboy!

PomRuns · 12/06/2023 18:59

@StarryNightAddict I can’t remember if I’ve asked this (bog off peri menopause) does the setting spray feel sticky ? I assume it’s stops foundation/powder from budging?

Babysharkdoodoodood · 12/06/2023 22:00

In lockdown I won a years supply of benefit brow stuff. Still working through it.
Then today went to get my brows waxes and dyed and got given (yet another) full size mascara.

I've still got 3 unopened in my stash. Im never going to finish them am I?

StarryNightAddict · 12/06/2023 23:45

@PomRuns the urban decay isn’t sticky at all. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray and that’s not sticky either, Although I do find the CT one more shiny. Both keep my make up in place all day.

I’m trying Mecca’s own brand at the moment because it’s significantly cheaper, I’m really hoping it works out.

CinnamonCoffee · 13/06/2023 04:09

Oh wow @Puravida23 that's a total bargain. I actually need a new Luna oil and that's £45 on it's own. Also the Ouai leave in conditioner is a personal HG.

MavisMcMinty · 13/06/2023 05:44

Yeah, I emailed the link to my sister, and hope she understands the £50 price will go up to £85 if she’s not quick! I was going to suggest the M&S beauty bag (£25 if you spend £35 in Home, Beauty or Clothes) to her as a birthday pressie for me, but the Harvey Nicks one looks so much better!

Fraaahnces · 13/06/2023 05:49

Rituel de Fille parcel arrived yesterday. Omg! 3 Drops Foundation is lovely and I think I have found a replacement for my fave Urban Decay Space Cowboy eyeshadow! Woohoo!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 13/06/2023 09:19

Lift and luminate night cream. I like this. I have another in my stash.

denis gross serum. Disappointing. It claimed to do wonders for pores. Nada.

Boots retinol. I think I'm going to abandon retinol when I've used up my stash. It doesn't really do anything for me.

@OchonAgusOchonOh When you do give up retinol, will you give us feedback about what happens? (Ie, will the fabric of the universe unravel? Will your face fall off? Will you rapidly age or become discolored?)

You have me worried now @Fraaahnces .

Although if it does cause a rip in the space time continuum, I might end up with 20 year old skin.

Fraaahnces · 13/06/2023 15:01

Sorry @OchonAgusOchonOh ! It’s just touted as a panacaea and I’m not sure I get the hype either. (But I use tretinoin)

FilthyRich · 13/06/2023 15:42

I have 28 lipbalms, mostly unused plus a few others that are lying around half-used

OchonAgusOchonOh · 13/06/2023 16:00

An awful lot of skincare is hype. Doesn't stop me buying it though...

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 13/06/2023 17:14

Ohhh @FilthyRich I have plenty too and use them up in rough patches of skin. That way they fly!

FilthyRich · 13/06/2023 17:50

Most of them are tinted, @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel . I'm not sure if poppy red Nivea lip balm would look inconspicuous. Smile

I've just remembered another 3 unopened ones - nice tinted Burt's Bees ones. I might give them as a gift to someone I know who likes them.

I decanted a big tube of moisturiser into a jar and it feels less of a chore to use it.

MavisMcMinty · 13/06/2023 17:56

I now have 5 unopened birthday presents upstairs in the spare room, 4 of them from me to me. As it’s still 6 weeks away, I’ll have forgotten what’s in them, so it will all be a splendid surprise. Also going to not open next month’s Liberty beauty drop until my birthday the following week.

I really think I can do this!

IndianSummer78 · 13/06/2023 18:35

Can anyone explain cleansing balms to me? I've googled but none the wiser. They clean your face, I get that, but why did they get invented? What are they doing that face wash, or cream cleanser and toner, aren't doing? They're expensive and the main ingredients seems to be oil. There's baby oil and almond oil in the bathroom, olive oil and coconut oil in the kitchen probably best to leave the chilli oil out of the equation . All of which are a darn sight cheaper than cleansing balms. So, are cleansing balms 🐍 snake oil 🐍 or am I missing out?

FilthyRich · 13/06/2023 18:49

@IndianSummer78 , they tend to melt away makeup, the you use something to wash off the balm, I think.

You can use olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil or sunflower oil as moisturiser, cleanser or hair mask. Jojoba oil is nicer but more expensive.
Castor oil makes a good cheap leave-in hair treatment but it's a bit gloopy.
