@MavisMcMinty I have a couple of Lethal Cosmetics eyeshadows. I can assure you that they’re utterly fabulous!

FilthyRich · 09/06/2023 12:44

I have gone through quite a lot of my stash.
I had thought that I had an awful lot of shower gel, but I don't really, so that will eventually go down.
Shampoo and conditioner, and face wash, the same.

I have a bag for life full of moisturisers, serums, eye cream and facial-quality balms.

I have a lot of make-up especially lipsticks.

I have a lot of hairstyling products and things like dry shampoo - I will cull these.
I'll probably donate face masks and scrubs.

I managed to bin 10 non-working ballpoint pens that had got mixed up with various make-up pencils.

MavisMcMinty · 09/06/2023 19:23

I put on a full face of makeup this afternoon. Wanted to try the eyeshadow primer I got in some box or other, and the new “blushlighter”, and having used nothing but Benefit Rollerlash for the last 5+ years, I tried ImperialLash MascaraInk from Shiseido and it’s really good! Anyway, my eyeshadow is still there APART from in the crease, maybe I didn’t put enough primer there, I’ll try again tomorrow. On top of my tan the “blushlighter” makes me look golden! Think I need much less shimmery face stuff though, seems to highlight the lines.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 09/06/2023 22:07

My diptyque parcel arrived today. The scent is really nice and for bunging in my handbag and not needing to worry about leaking it’s great. And I like the idea of the refills.

have a couple of samples that I chose and haven’t smelt them yet as will use them for nights out.

m the packaging was excessive but gorgeous.

will post a pic tomorrow as it was a lovely treat to open after a long week at work.

StarryNightAddict · 09/06/2023 23:52

I’m off to mecca today because I need a new cleanser. My current one that I have a love/hate relationship with is drying me out too much with the cold weather. I have bits of skin flaking off my chin. 😒
I will ONLY walk out with the cleanser. I am not buying anything else! 🤣

FiveShelties · 10/06/2023 03:26

@StarryNightAddict of course you will only buy the cleanser, as would I obviously.😂

This determination could be how I ended up with almost 300 items.

StarryNightAddict · 10/06/2023 08:09

Right, I did not get just the cleanser. I blame mecca. It’s so shiny and everything just calls to me.

I picked up my cleanser, a 3 pack of tocca hand cream, a lip gloss and an Stila eyeliner. It could have been worse I suppose 😂

Fraaahnces · 10/06/2023 10:23

Bloody Mecca and their irresistible cosmetic candy stands near the till…: So dangerous!

CinnamonCoffee · 10/06/2023 11:57

Is Mecca like Sephora?

StarryNightAddict · 10/06/2023 13:15

We have Sephora also but most of the brands that are sold at Sephora in other countries are sold at mecca here 😄

Fraaahnces · 10/06/2023 14:08

We had Mecca (short for Mecca Cosmetica) before Sephora invaded our shores. The competition did nothing to drop the prices though. It originally set itself up as the “classier” or “grownup” or even the “braver option” store and in many way$$$ I would say it’s true. They have Chantecaille, Westman Atelier and the super bougie brands, but also Too Faced and Urban Decay. Their own brand is a bit 🤷🏼‍♀️and on par with Sephora Collection price-wise. I guess it’s like Ulta and Sephora, or even Space NL and Sephora… brands are contracted to one or the other.

StarryNightAddict · 10/06/2023 23:03

I like their own brand because it’s cruelty free, whereas Sephora’s own brand isn’t.

Funnily enough I actually had to go to two bloody Mecca’s yesterday, as after all this time it never actually clocked for me that there were different types of Mecca’s. 🤦‍♀️ I went to a fancy ass mecca first when I actually apparently needed a Mecca Maxima for my budget soap and glory cleanser 🤣 was not impressed 🤣

Fraaahnces · 11/06/2023 06:00

Yes there’s Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cometica. No ideas which is which, but I know one has all the fancy pants bits and bobs.

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 13:15

Used the H&B advent calendar hair mask yesterday. Someone said my hair smelt lovely. It was the Naturtint Goji Berry one. Didn't particularly notice a difference in my hair.

Experiment627 · 11/06/2023 15:35

I dyed my hair using the Garnier Good permanent hair colour - not great - hair feels really processed

I have a question for you wise ladies of MN.

what’s the difference between these 3 products?

I don’t know the answer, hence looking for enlightenment.

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 16:12

They're different colours, and probably smell differently.

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 16:14

Maybe they are of different density. Try the float one and see if it floats in the bath.

Experiment627 · 11/06/2023 16:50

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I feel like you need to try all three to see. I am expecting a full report back 🤓

OP posts:
Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 11/06/2023 16:54

LOL 😂 I will but you’ll have to bear with me as I rarely bath. I usually go for showers.
Maybe they change the names to make them sound more fancy 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 11/06/2023 16:59

Sorry… fancier I mean 🤦🏻‍♀️

IndianSummer78 · 11/06/2023 17:15

One's bubble bath, one's shower gel and one's bath oil which will float on the surface

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 17:17

The float looks nice but I'm picturing a greasy ring around the bath after use.

FilthyRich · 11/06/2023 17:37

Of my bag-for-life full of moisturisers etc, which ones should I try to use up first? There are lots of fairly boring big ones and lots of little dinky nice-looking ones.
The dinky pots will annoy me but look like treats, the large ones look likea bit of a chore.

MavisMcMinty · 11/06/2023 17:44

Keep the dinky ones to exchange with your neighbours for food come the nuclear apocalypse. I’ve read The Handmaid’s Tale and heard all about WW2 deprivations.
