I have found as I get “wiser and wiser” that I don’t even bother with foundation. If I do, it’s got to be so watered down with my moisturiser, then it barely qualifies as a tint. It’s not because I’m a supermodel, but I find that I can feel it on my skin and I find it emphasises more of what I want to hide. *Disclaimer - my eyesight is going at a rapid rate of knots and perhaps my skin is far worse than I realised… Maybe I am only aware of the Nile Delta of crevices flooding each side of my eye area, and the Amazon Basin emptying from my hairline down to the bridge of my nose when they fill with foundation like some kind of Bond Villain’s evil plan to dam the world.

I definitely need to join, have a Lookfantastic addiction and a huge stash of beauty products that I do use but i do love buying more too.

I haven't posted for over a year for various reasons but I have had a look from time to time to see what's happening.
Apart from essentials such as cleanser, moisturiser and toothpaste I've not bought anything as I am determined to use up what I already have. I always get smellies at Christmas and for my birthday so I'm not missing out!

Thank you for the new thread! 💅

@Fraaahnces - when I had cataract surgery, I wondered who the old woman was looking at me from the mirror.😂

A bit of an aside, but I didn't realise how very short sighted I was until we had a school eye test when I was 16. The first time I wore my glasses was a revelation: everything was so sharp!
I went off happily on the train with a friend for a shopping trip. On that journey, the train always used to pass a lovely meadow, full of wild flowers...
Except, now I could see properly, it wasn't! The "lovely meadow" was a scrubby patch of overgrown grass and the "wild flowers" were just loads of sweet and crisp wrappers!

Wow that looks great!

I've never had a good result with teeth whitening products but that looks really affective

I need a prescription for new glasses. Maybe I should let things slide for now. Perhaps ignorance is bliss. I know my eyes have become more hooded rather dramatically this year.

An empty and a nearly-empty for me this week are Perricone’s lifting eye serum and Perricone Cold Plasma Eye cream, both came in the Perricone advent calendar and despite their small sizes lasted a long time. Like most sane people I don’t really rate eye creams and never purposefully buy one but get so many in beauty boxes/edits it seems rude not to try them.

I liked both creams, but it’s only since the serum ran out a few days ago that I realise the crepey bit beneath my left eye came on while I was using the serum and has now disappeared, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend it!

Same goes for the brand itself, so expensive, probably because it’s from the US and you’re paying shipping costs. The advent calendar seemed very good value (£80 iirc) given the brand’s usual pricing, but won’t bother again.

Meant to add on my last comment…I was browsing the rewards on my John Lewis app and they do a beauty recycle scheme. Basically if you take 5 empty beauty containers into any beauty counter at JLs, and spend £20 or more on beauty that day you get a fiver off.

so I’m now saving not binning my empties 😃 but check the app if you have it as they don’t take glass and aerosols.

I may well be the last person to know about this…but just in case!

It’s been going a while, because I have an overflowing carrier bag of empties that’s been in my larder for over a year, because it’s so long since I went to John Lewis! (Nearest JL is 90 miles away in Bristol.) It was just nice knowing they could be recycled - I am often tempted to send my Liz Earle empties to their HQ, as they’re very hard to recycle.

To Liz Earle HQ, I mean, not John Lewis.

@MavisMcMinty I knew I’d be behind the curve 😆 but agree it’s good to recycle them whatever so I’ll hang onto mine for a while

12 is this face oil, I forgot I had it and when I started using it I remembered why I bought it in the first place. I have quite dehydrated sensitive skin and it sinks straight in, I also love the scent.
I will rebuy when I get through my stash oil facial products that fulfil the same purpose.

I’ve just finished Augustinis Bader The Cream from the Sephora AC. I actually really liked this, it’s the perfect day cream for me but I could never justify the price. For 15ml of product (full size!) it did last for a surprising amount of time

I finished the Dr Sturm vitamin C serum from the Liberty AC. It's very expensive but I managed to get a new full size from eBay at £32.

I finished Ren's Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream last night (threw it away before thinking to photograph it).
The French title also says "Anti-Tâche", which is good because I had to pluck a dark hair off my upper lip only a week ago...
Seriously, this was fine. I don't have a problem with pigmentation so wasn't looking for its effect on that.
I'm always happy to use a Ren cream, but wouldn't RP as there are other things out there targeted at my particular issues.

Have also recently finished a PK Elasticiser. I'm up to ears in these, so are determined to get through them. I don't notice a great difference after them, but do like the virtuous glow I get from having tried.

I'm currently working my way through a No7 serum Early Defence under my daytime moisturiser (always use Medik8 Crystal Retinal 10 at night).
It feels nice going on - smooth, like a primer - but, stupidly, the name "Early Defence" is putting me off it.
I feel, at my age, it's too late for early defence - I want anti-wrinkle, heavy duty chemicals (I'm a sucker for a bit of science talk). I don't want to just throw it, so am using it in unfeasible quantities to get through it so I can get back to the "Late Frantic Fightback Knocks Years Off" serums I've got lurking in my skin care box.
Does anybody else recognise this mindset?

I've just finished my elemis pro collagen moisturiser which left my skin lovely and soft. Have moved on to their dynamic resurfacing moisturiser and wash which I really like. Also have a few empty tubs to recycle.

Finished the drunk elephant vitamin c serum I got in a box set in the Jan sales

One of those you mix with powder to create a serum

Can't say I noticed much difference and I'm not sure how long the powder mixture is good for.

Like drunk elephant but they are expensive, I only tried this one as space nk were selling off the Xmas sets.

Well…… Poop! Does this count as an empty?
Lovely powder, but it doesn’t travel well. It was in my work bag, not dropped. I very rarely use powder too. It’s just so hot I took it to work
in a misguided attempt to stop my face pouring down past my navel in cascades of sweat.
I guess I could try re-pressing it, maybe.

Lots of empties this week:

Paula’s Choice anti-aging clear skin hydrador - I really wanted to like this balm-like serum which contains niacinamide and vit c BUT it pilled when layered with other products

Paula’s choice 2% BHA exfoliant liquid - love this, it’s a staple in my routine but now that I’m trying to conceive I’m moving to AHAs instead

Megababe the smoothie deodorant - came in a CB goodie bag. Was okay but wouldn’t repurchase. Performance wasn’t great on sweaty gym days.

Olaplex No. 3 - I’m working through a stash of these (in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner). I think it’s working..but I’m not sure. For those of you who use it religiously, how long did it take to see results?

Pantene argan infused oil - used for swimming and before showering for added hydration. Was fine.

Endota spa recovery balm - from Aus. Nice balm for achy muscles.

The Inkey List oat cleansing balm - LOvE this. My favourite cleanser. Feels nice and nourishing.

Laniege lip sleeping mask - original - really liked this. Not sure I’d repurchase at £19 but enjoyed it

Biossance vit c serum - I love this brand but not the most potent form of vit c. Wouldn’t repurchase.

Spa Luxetique chamomile Himalayan salt - came in a bath gift set. Nice enough but wouldn’t repurchase

@Fraaahnces I have only once tried to repress an eyeshadow (from Chanel, otherwise I would not have bothered) and it has not been wholly successful but I am too attached to the eyeshadow to chuck 🙈

I have two empties to report:

  • Kingfisher Natural Toothpaste Fennel with fluoride: this is HG for me and I buy in bulk to get the best price deal on it. The fennel flavour is fresh but not so strong like mint can be. They have recently changed the packaging and it is now 100% recyclable 🥳
  • Britney Spears Fantasy perfume: this was a sample size. I thought I had actually used this before but it did not evoke any smell memories so maybe not. Will not RP.
