@LivingDeadGirlUK if you don’t have anyone in mind I would take it. These days are the only thing I tend to use. I don’t have that colour but I like Maybelline crayons.

as for the yuka app I am going to download it. Didn’t know such thing existed.

there are a couple of websites that allow you to put the reference from a cosmetic and tell you when it was manufactured.
I can’t comment on how accurate are but some of my things are ancient 😞

PM me your address if you like a deep berry colour :)

Experiment627 · 26/05/2023 09:25

I have one empty:

  • Johnson's no more tangles kids shampoo (green bottle): yikes! This got a Yuka 14/100 😨😨😨 BUT seems to have resolved my 4 year old's cradle cap...
Happy Friyay everyone!

Mega disappointment after trying out the Lisa Eldridge seamless foundation... at least I only got the samples.

Oh that’s a shame @Experiment627 I’m thinking of trying the bare minerals tinted moisturiser

Experiment627 · 26/05/2023 15:58

Let us know how you get on @PomRuns ... maybe I need to go to a department store with the Yuka app and look at foundations...

Three empties today…

  1. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule 30ml. Despite my cynicism about this supposedly miraculous ingredient, my skin LOVES this! It’s hydrating and soothing. This one has one of the highest percentages of pure Centella extract and is a very liquidy-almost watery serum. It is absorbed virtually instantly and leaves no tacky residue. It leaves me glowy, plumped and hydrated. *NB, I recently purchased the fermented version of this on sale, but my skin much prefers this OG.
  2. Sioris Time is Running Out Mist 30ml. Delicious. This is made with either Mume (plum) or Yuja (Yuzu) oil, depending on the season. They’re both delicious but the Yuja has the edge as far as the scent goes, IMO. They both feel the same on the skin. They’re one of those oil in water jobs that you shake up first. Makes an awesome setting spray and was crucial when doing a 26hr drive last summer for keeping my skin stuck to my face in the air con. Like most things, I only purchase when on sale. I would definitely repurchase this and keep by my bed. (When done with other mists in rotation.)
  3. SOME BY MI Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum. This is great as a spot treatment while they’re cooking up and afterwards to avoid hyperpigmentation. Doesn’t smell especially interesting given the Yuja bit, but it’s effective. It wasn’t for me as a whole-face product as was a bit drying. Combined with the SKIN 1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule, though…. GLOW CITY! That’s it, apart from some less interesting bits. Toothpaste, deodorant, etc. Oh, I forgot! I have been oiling my scalp before washing my hair (and giving myself a wee massage at the same time.) I have gone through the HANYUL Yuja Face Oil 30ml that did not work for my skin but smells utterly divine. (Don’t put this on your skin - it reacts with sunlight!) Great for cuticles and hair/scalp though.) Also zoomed through 15ml AUSTRALIAN JOJOBA 100% Jojoba Oil. The pump is great so keeping that for travel. Jojoba is fine too. Nothing spesh. Almost done with INVITE E, Vitamin E Oil. Better on cuticles and for inflamed, sensitive skin. Will keep some in stash for this purpose. A bit greasy for every day face use.
Fraaahnces · 27/05/2023 07:20

@Experiment627 - I’ve not heard great things re the Lisa foundation. I’m eyeing off the new Rituel De Fille one.

Fraaahnces · 27/05/2023 07:31

Oh dear… 20% off sale on RDF site. Might have accidentally purchased the foundation, 2 eye glosses and a highlighter to receive two new eye glosses. (The Highlighter will Probably be used as an eyeshadow mostly too.) Sooooo pretty.

Experiment627 · 27/05/2023 07:36

@Fraaahnces a 26 hour drive?! Hopefully not non-stop!
Never heard of Rituel de Fille before - will take a look.

I went shopping today with my DD and IMO was very restrained! I only bought a 16 pack of beauty blenders as my very quick dog keeps eating mine in the 2.3 second I put them down for 😒 and a Kmart lip mask, but that was only $3 so it doesn’t count right??? 🤣

I am looking for a new foundation but couldn’t decide on one today, so I walked away instead of buying them all 🤣

MavisMcMinty · 27/05/2023 13:24

I googled Lisa Eldridge as recognised the name (from QVC), and JFC, she’s 3 years younger than me but looks 20 years younger!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 27/05/2023 13:41

I brought a garnier bb cream for aging skin. Used the Yuka app and now need to take it back. It scored 0/100 and says highly toxic. The sunscreen used in it can cause sun allergy’s and endocrine disorders!
I mean I’m sure lots of products are not fantastic but that sounds scary

Fraaahnces · 27/05/2023 15:27

@Experiment627 - was over two days. Stayed in a motel overnight. Was pooped when I got there though.

Experiment627 · 27/05/2023 16:20

@UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter I bet it has cyclopentasiloxane in it. That bastardo ingredient pops up everywhere... I was looking at an Elf foundation earlier - it has it in it as do many others. The Yuka app is great - maybe how we curb out addiction as it limits supply!

@Fraaahnces I bet you were! I did 24 hours by coach once (London - Madrid) - took me ages to recover.

I've been using L'Oréal True Match Nude Serum Foundation and just checked the ingredients list. It doesn't have those cyclo things in it @Experiment627 and it's a good foundation, has more coverage than I expected and is the only foundation which doesn't sit in my fine lines round my eyes. I'm glad I've chosen it as my new favourite one because I checked the ingredients list for Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse which has been discontinued (but I still have some supplies to use up). It was my favourite for ages but it's got cyclopentasiloxane as the first ingredient 😱

Experiment627 · 27/05/2023 19:17

Amazing! Thanks @IndianSummer78!

This yuka app is interesting but possibly a bit scaremongery? For example baby oil is bad but then it talks about ingesting, we aint drinking the baby oil ...

PomRuns · 27/05/2023 19:31

Agree @LivingDeadGirlUK one of my products also scored badly if I drank it- I wasn’t planning to drink my body lotion. A nice Sauvignon on the other hand ….

Fraaahnces · 27/05/2023 19:42

Also agree @LivingDeadGirlUK… Same with EWG app. Useful and very thorough conversation about such matters comes from Lab Muffin Beauty Science. She’s a cosmetic chemist from Aus. Many degrees under her belt and she has a lot to say about the scaremongering amongst “greenwashing” groups. Not to say she approves of washing your face with napalm either.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/05/2023 19:45

Its rated my superdrug naturally radiant toner as poor and suggested nappy cream as an alternative :p

But I expect it will be useful for face creams and trying to find one less irritating.

clary · 27/05/2023 19:49

Oooh lots of empties. Well some are chucks but I’ve decided not to keep and try to use stuff that brings no joy.

BB Cream L’Oréal colour is all wrong, darker shade was supposed to correct, no good.

Eye cream that’s old

Hue glow stuff that’s yukky.

Augustinus Bader cream - not a fan, finished as a hand cream

Prai upper arm cream - a bit daft but I did finish it

MZ Masks - I loved the hydra lift gold face one, made my skin so soft. May rp.

Perfumes - adore the F and M, have RPd several times. Also like the Malian and Goetz. Juliette has a Gun duo (JLP AC 2021) - not fussed, didn’t last or smell of much.

Experiment627 · 27/05/2023 21:27

I like the Yuka app if only to quickly see what lies within - then I can make a decision about whether or not I want to proceed. Firms faves - like Nivea in shower - have not rated well but they do not contain the ingredients I am avoiding so I am still going to use. This whole "clean" beauty thing gets on my ( . . )s.
