@StarryNightAddict - deep-set eyes are stunningly beautiful. Everyone has something they’re jealous of. I bet you have eyelashes. I have three, short, stick-straight eyelashes that are so blonde, they’re transparent. I look like a piglet. (Also, my eyes are pale, nondescript grey to add to that image. People assume they’re blue because I’m blonde, and then notice years later that they’re really not.)

StarryNightAddict · 19/05/2023 04:45

Ahh yes I do have eyelashes! I never wear mascara either because I don’t really need it, and the previously mentioned deep set eyes mean I end up with it all over my brow bone within a matter of minutes 🤣 My eyes sound the same colour as yours though! I never know how to answer the “what colour are your eyes?” Question 🤣 no idea 🤣

Fraaahnces · 19/05/2023 07:16

I wear mascara every single day so that I look human. I have been asked by complete strangers if I am an albino. Uh, no. I tan. How rude.

Experiment627 · 19/05/2023 09:12

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel that might just work... cos Chase is on the case!

Some empties:

  • M&S Glow rapid morning mask: actually really liked this - only 3 minutes rather than the 10 of The Ordinary peeling solution for similar results. Bright orange and smells citrusy.
  • Rimmel Magnif'eyes eye primer: did the job... then dried out
  • Aldi No1 hand gel: this smell is the the Jo Malone lime, mandarin & basil dupe - handy sized bottle for when on the road.

I am very disappointed to see cyclical silicones featuring in tonnes of products again... not sure if due to Brexit or a change in the EU ruling but WHY do they use them when demithicone is safe????? FFS. I think I will just have to let this go though & develop some detachment as it just causes so many negative feelings in me.

Watched a really interesting video last night about decluttering - and basically how having so much clutter may actually be a symptom of previous trauma. This makes a lot of sense for me but has made me feel even more determined for it not to get the better of me. That said... am off to Superdrug later on 🙈

I’m off shopping with my friend tomorrow because I need a new dishrack and there’s a mecca and a Sephora in the shopping centre. 🙈 will be the true test of willpower!

one empty for me today, used the last few ml of my sol de Janeiro 39 spray. Devastated I can not repurchase this one.

I also decanted a neutrogena moisturiser into the drunk elephant pot because I really like making smoothies 😅

StarryNightAddict · 19/05/2023 13:00

Whoops I spoke too soon. 4 more empties after my shower. Seriously stunned. I never have empties because I’m always buying new things to try and never bother finishing what I’ve got 😅

maui shampoo and conditioner - ok, I prefer my moogoo

Frank body glow mask - loved this will RP full size

sukin body wash - freebie in a goodie bag. I’ll never say no to a freebie but won’t RP, have too many other body washes I like better

vjg13 · 19/05/2023 18:11

I've got 4 empties too.
L'Occitane oil make up remover, I did like this and it lasted ages but have lots of others to use.
St. Tropez self tan mist, HG for me and have RP.
CeraVe hand cream, ok but nothing amazing.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, have already RP a bigger one and want to get in the habit of using weekly alongside all the PK bond repair products that I have just bought.

One empty. Alberto balsam tea tree tingle shampoo. I Ike this, it's a regular purchase. I've got other shampoos in my stash though so won't be repurchasing at the moment

StarryNightAddict · 20/05/2023 07:16

Right, I failed window shopping miserably 😭😭

I literally had every intention of buying nothing. Instead I bought 3x pair of Peter Alexander PJ’s, a Seed tote bag, Pixi eye patches, bang’n body firming lotion, replaced my Frank body glow mask, and another lanolips lip balm, because you can never have too many. 🫠

i suck. I don’t think I belong here 🤣

MavisMcMinty · 20/05/2023 10:31

If you don’t belong here neither do I, @StarryNightAddict . I bought Glossybox’s Grazia Winter box a couple of days ago because they’d reduced it to £50. I don’t need anything in it but have been pondering it for months. Clearly overpriced to begin with as they still have boxes available months after its launch.

Experiment627 · 20/05/2023 10:33

@StarryNightAddict you do belong! We all fall off the wagon. Some of us never even get on the wagon.

Am so 🤬🤬🤬 it seems UK have relaxed rules about nasty silicones and Superdrug has gone to town reincluding ingredient in their products.

StarryNightAddict · 20/05/2023 10:36

Oooohhhhh @MavisMcMinty that box is awesome!!!

MavisMcMinty · 20/05/2023 10:36

Pretty innit?

IndianSummer78 · 21/05/2023 00:24

Starry night I'm on the low but clothes thread too. It's embarrassing how much I have to post I've bought more 🤪

Experiment please tell me about the nasty silicones. I know nothing 😳

OchonAgusOchonOh · 21/05/2023 09:51

I'm on an aldi run at the moment.

Lé Mara hyaluronic serum. I like this but think the inkey list one is better.

Q10 serum. I bought this as I saw it highly recommended. As a serum, it was decent but the smell was vile. It smells like a cheap household cleaner. I have one more in my stash but won't repurchase after that.

Experiment627 · 21/05/2023 12:33

@IndianSummer78 a while back the EU restricted the use of Cyclopentasiloxane - which is a volatile silicone - meaning you breath it in. Its use was restricted in some cosmetics... I think the restriction has been lifted or Brexit now means that the UK is not covered by the restriction. Apparently this silicone - and others of the same family - can impact the endocrine system. So this yucky ingredient can impact your hormones (including fertility related ones).

:Colour wow hair mask. Nice but as my hair is so thick and long I only got 3 uses and it's £40!
:Innisfree eye cream, Lovely and hydrating
:Elemis balm cleanser, LOVE
:SR Luna oil, lovely and smells amazing
:LA Bruket hand cream, really liked this
:Rodial eye patch, lovely and cooling
Total empties: 43

IndianSummer78 · 21/05/2023 18:12

Thanks Experiment, that's awful. I like products with the least amount of ingredients in, especially those long unpronounceable ones. Hopefully I can avoid the nasties

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 21/05/2023 21:57

It would be great if I could teach myself what ingredients are harmful and which ones are fine. Definitely as I use up my things I will try to replace with good ones.

In the meantime, things were slow lately but we used up lots of shampoo and body washes! Yay!

  • imperial leather foamburst lychee and lotus flower: really luxurious and creamy. I like the smell, and I might repurchase if I finish whatever it’s in my stash.
  • alberto balsam lavender and white lily conditioner. I really love the smell because it reminds me of Dove aftershave. Too runny and watery for my taste so won’t repurchase.
  • dove bath shea butter and vanilla. Very creamy and thick and luxurious . I really like the smell and I would repurchase.
  • Honest shampoo and body wash lavender. I bought this in TK Maxx to be fair. I don’t like how it smells and the texture is somehow very bad on hair. However, as a body wash is not too bad. Won’t Rp bought for DC.
  • aveeno body wash: a staple at home. Not fancy but does the job. Good for atopic skin.
  • elvive rebalancing shampoo. I absolutely adore this shampoo it is a staple too. I use it all the time and I love the smell because it is like roses and my hair lasts for two days with this shampoo without looking greasy.
  • TBS shea body lotion. It is my first time trying this body lotion and I really liked it. It is very lightweight but moisturising. I would buy again.
  • mason and miller shampoo and shower gel. Very bad.
  • bepanthol Sensicalm: too small a sample to comment.
  • apivita queen bee age defense cream. This is a very nice face cream that smells lovely and it is very rich but maybe too greasy for hot weather.
  • Aqua alegoria rosa rossa. My second sample. I like it but have tooooo many.

I’m not sure if the app is available in the UK, but I just downloaded Yuka, you scan your products and it tells your if the ingredients are good or bad. Been doing it all morning and most of my stuff is very poor. ☹️

Fraaahnces · 22/05/2023 07:14

Just spent a fortune on a KBeauty website for my son who has a wee bit of acne. Everything was half price. Would have been irresponsible not to throw in some moisturiser and some cleansing balms to try wouldn’t it? 😱

Experiment627 · 22/05/2023 08:31

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I only look out for that particular ingredient cos my memory is shite

Oooo @StarryNightAddict I will take a look - thanks for the top tip!

Totes irresponsible @Fraaahnces well done for being mature in your behaviour.

Experiment627 · 22/05/2023 08:50

@StarryNightAddict I actually LOVE you! Yuka works in the UK!!!! And it understands that cyclopentasiloxane is nasty!!!!
