Bottom right mustard Erdem...😱

I know @Maireas 🤮 and the blue is ghastly too.

CleaningOutMyCloset · 19/02/2023 19:57

I've never seen Kate in a dress I didn't like, I think the white dress is lovely. Just not a BAFTA dress, but I think the gloves and earrings just look odd.

I was looking forward to seeing what she had in today, disappointed when she's really knocked it out the park on previous, similar evenings

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 19:59

@TracyBeakerSoYeah you and I can share the entire Erdem back catalogue.

I’d definitely wear a lot of it; even the mustard dress! I think there are only three of us who have the Erdem thing going on so we’ll be able to work out a rota for wearing pieces.

The velvet dress would have looked fantastic with those gloves! Come on Kate, you know you want to wear it again!!

Vitriolinsanity · 19/02/2023 20:03

The mustard Erdem might (might) have looked better on a different carpet.

Carey Mulligan and Cate B are doing it for me

Cate's dress is also a rewear as she wore it to the Oscars some years ago.

daysofreading · 19/02/2023 20:13

I like the dress (although it's a bit boring), but it looks very strange with the gloves and nasty cheap earrings. She has so many gorgeous heirloom pieces that she could have worn.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 20:18

Yes although I’d happily wear the earrings they really don’t go with the vibe she was presumably going for with the gloves! The dress and the earrings go together well for me - like a step up from bohemian beach wear.

paradyning · 19/02/2023 20:28

Agree that velvet column dress would look amazing with those gloves.

I can't imagine what her stylist was thinking tonight

StartupRepair · 19/02/2023 20:31

So disappointed with the earrings. Literally anything from the vault would be better.

PolliFlinders · 19/02/2023 20:31

Just as well we are all different, I love her look tonight.

Serenster · 19/02/2023 20:46

I wondered if Kate, like many of us, was swooning over Blake Lively’s look at the Met Gala last year and wanted to take the opportunity to try opera gloves out. I liked the reworked dress, and the gloves were certainly striking, but for me the look didn’t work.

I was pondering what she could have done - blue gloves a bit like Blake and the stunning Brazilian aquamarine earrings? Or green gloves and one of the pairs of emerald drop earrings (she has her own, or she could have borrowed)?

I do appreciate the fact that she’s taking a fashion risk, though, and reworking an existing gown. And she and William looked very happy on the red carpet - she appeared to tap him on the bum as they walked in!

Basically Blake Lively is the Met Gala these days! I wonder if we'll ever see a member of the RF attend that again? I remember Diana once did back in the 90s, wearing a rather daring lingerie-inspired number.

gluenotsoup · 19/02/2023 20:54

Ooh. Now that’s an opera gloves outfit that hits the spot. Beautiful.

Serenster · 19/02/2023 21:02

Chris Jackson’s black and white shot works for me…

It works when she's stood next to William

paradyning · 19/02/2023 21:07

Marginally better in b&w as you can't see the gold and pink extras.
The gloves are still jarring though.

I quite like Williams's look

locketrocket · 19/02/2023 21:12

Going against the grain here..

I like the gloves

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 19/02/2023 21:12

What a strange decision , pairing long black gloves with such a floaty and diaphanous, and white dress. Most odd.

And as for the Zara earrings, is that a 'trying to be relatable' thing? Seems odd to me when she must have access to so much jewellery. She doesn't need to bust out the mega bucks diamonds but maybe some middling bucks diamonds.

mikado1 · 19/02/2023 21:13

No, no, no to black gloves with white, and especially a floaty dress. Dress is lab and she looks lovely.

frugalkitty · 19/02/2023 21:17

Well, really, that's the dress I've earmarked for the coronation! I think the addition of the extra fabric is to make sure it expand enough to fit me in May! She can keep the gloves though.

She looks like the Venus de Milo there.

StartupRepair · 19/02/2023 21:30

I see she wore pearl and diamond earrings last time she wore the dress. Agree that aquamarine earrings with blue gloves would be stunning.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 21:31

Black gloves with white dress can work well. But, the dress really is too floaty, and the asymmetric effect of the shoulder on the one side cutting off a large part of the top of the glove looks really odd and lopsided.

Good of you to let her keep the gloves. Grin

More BAFTA red carpet looks. Cynthia still wins it for me.
