Good grief. Those earrings are awful. They look cheap (and are cheap!).

I love long black opera gloves too @TangledWebOfDeception, but on this occasion neither the colour nor the style of the dress suited them. If the dress had been a beautiful, very simply cut black velvet, then those gloves would have been perfect. Not so much with the frou frou white frills.

Weirdly, when I went back to the photo I started to like the gloves. It's the bag with them that looked odder, like her hand had grown.

Love Kate's dress & earrings but although interesting the gloves do look a bit jarring especially with a black bag too!
Like @LadyEloise1 suggested rose gold gloves in satin/silk or some other sheeny fabric would have looked far better especially with that black bag. (I do like the bag)

I'm having a minds eye look (I love my brain sometimes) at different things Kate could have worn with that dress.
Some stonking emerald 'granny's chips' with emerald satin gloves would have nailed it.

The gloves would be great with something else though, but overall there are just all sorts of wrong about that, not least the cheap Bet Lynch earrings.

As much as I love Erdem & think I must be one of the few or the only one that likes the Mustard 'Sofa' dress, I draw the line at this blue velvet!

The earrings fit the theme IMO. I don’t believe she should wear proper royal bling to what’s essentially entirely shallow/a showbiz thing. But I don’t hold celebrity/film industry in high regard (in general) so to me the earrings reflect the importance or relevance of the occasion (and I fully accept I am likely in the minority on that one!). However even outside of that I like the earrings - I’d wear them on a night out!

Hate the gloves and the earrings.

IMO the dress with some big emerald/ruby earrings and a coordinating bag would have been very much better.

I like a monochrome outfit but it needs more than just one big white dress with long black gloves. The gloves are too 'heavy looking' and create a really odd silhouette in some of the photos, particularly attached to the black bag.

Black. Frilled along the bust. Very va va voom! Quite reminiscent of one Diana wore, IIRC.

@TracyBeakerSoYeah - I loved that black velvet dress. Would have been perfect with the gloves.
