She got dressed in the dark early. That is bad.

paradyning · 19/02/2023 18:01

Gold shoes. Pink earring. Black
Gloves. White dress. No. No. No. no.

Pallisers · 19/02/2023 18:01

They actually make her look quite peculiar - as if her arms have bizarrely changed colour. Pity because I really like the dress and the earrings are interesting.

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/02/2023 18:02

What a beautiful dress to ruin with those gloves!!

Do you think she's trying to distract from William's comb over?

DuchessOfPort · 19/02/2023 18:04

Oh! Oh dear. I have the unshakeable feeling that halfway there she said in the car “um, actually I might take these off” and started tugging at them but they left a line or something so she had to keep them on.

Still! Trying something a bit different. The dress itself is great.

hopeishere · 19/02/2023 18:06

They earrings are horrible too. Why she doesn't go and poke about in the vaults for some decent diamonds I don't know!

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:08

The dress is gorgeous and I love the earrings. Without the gloves it would have been great! Why didn’t she just try it with a beautiful subtle/pastel shade instead?

RockaLock · 19/02/2023 18:09

She's worn the dress before, hasn't she? Without the long bit on the shoulder, though, maybe? Or else she's now collecting long white dresses as well as green coats.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:10

Oh I really like the earrings! They’re interesting and dramatic.

She’s probably saving big bling for coronation and other state occasions now.

hopeishere · 19/02/2023 18:10

She wore something very similar in 2019.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/02/2023 18:14

The gloves are very jarring with the gown. Weird choice.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/02/2023 18:15

I'm pretty sure that's her dress from 2019 that she's had altered but what was she thinking with the gloves?? Has she developed some sort of wrist to elbow rash that needs covering up? That's the only reason for that getup!

Maireas · 19/02/2023 18:17

The dress is gorgeous, similar to a previous one, elegant and romantic. At first I baulked at the black gloves, but looking again, it makes for a more interesting and dramatic look. I don't like the earrings. I wish she'd wear more of Granny's chips.

I agree, she does always get many points for trying something new, even if it’s not quite successful!

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:19

Apparently it’s a bit of a trend atm. So good on her for trying it! I think I’ll probably like it more when I’ve got used to it.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:21

I think the dress fits her better now - the first time around I remember a lot of the bodice boning was visible.

Just had a look through most of the BAFTA ensembles and apart from Cynthia Erivo, who looks fantastic, I'm a bit meh about them. I feel the same about the Oscars these days - everyone is too damn tasteful !

lipstickwoman · 19/02/2023 18:23

Without the gloves she'd have looked very boring, and a bit bridal. I admire her trying something a bit braver.

She never looks entirely comfortable dressed up to nines.. I hope she doesn't read this thread else she's going to feel worse.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:28

She’ll be fine with this thread if she does read it. We give her her dues when she gets it just right (which happens a lot more often these days) and we’re not disparaging about her or her body. So I’m sure she can take a bit of gentle, if quite robust, critiqueing of outfits! <Hi Kate!>

I 💯agree.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/02/2023 18:30

I actually think it’s the bag that ruins it a bit. Too clunky against the white together with the black gloves.

I do love opera gloves, mind. So old-school elegant.

As expected, I’m already warming to it.

Gooseysgirl · 19/02/2023 17:58

Sorry didn't mean to post the pic a second time... was trying to upload pic of William who doesn't look much better 👀

He's worn velvet jackets before that looked good but I don't like this one.

justasking111 · 19/02/2023 18:36

I'm fine with the Cruella de ville look, but OH my eyes those naff Zara earrings. £18 when you have vaults of chandelier earrings.

Greengreented · 19/02/2023 18:38

Ooh, that’s an…interesting look for Kate today. Dress is fab, I’ll leave my comments there. 😀

LadyEloise1 · 19/02/2023 18:41

Perhaps the black and white was an homage to her great great great grandmother in law who had "magpie" (as @Maireas calls it ) tendencies 😉

Rose gold metallic gloves to match the cheap earrings might have been better.
