Mary Queen of Scots beheaded 436 years ago today.

Amazingly, a group of code breakers have recently found 57 letters written in code by Mary to Michel de Castelnau de Mauvisssier, the French Ambassador to England.
The letters were found in the French National Library in Paris, where they had been incorrectly catalogued. They must have been smuggled out from Mary's captivity to the Ambassador, one of her Catholic supporters.
It was only as they managed to decode the letters, and with mentions of Walsingham and worries about her son, that they realised the letters were from Mary.
How wonderful that Mary's voice has come down through all these years.

That's a nice dress on Amalia but she's looked very self-conscious for the whole trip and I feel a bit sorry for her. I don't think she's as gregarious and outgoing as Maxima so maybe it's been a lot.

I think so too. Some of the pics have reminded me of being a child in the supermarket when my mum’s yapping away to someone 😂

I thought it was George-ee-ahna, @LadyEloise1, so I got it wrong too. Having said that, I remember a lecturer years ago pointing out that I was pronouncing Ralph as Ralf, not Rafe and making me feel utterly stupid and uneducated so it’s a sore point for me 😂.
I quite like the Erdem dress🤷🏻‍♀️. Not keen on Max’s look today, and yes to the bra intervention! I imagine it must have been mentally draining for Amalia though, I expect resilience to these events and developing the skills take a while, she’s still very young.

Plus there was that story about her being felt at risk of kidnap so she had to stop living at university. Poor Amalia: it's awful.

I can’t believe I’m defending Erdem.
I do feel a bit sorry for Amalia. The weight of the responsibility must be heavy to bear when you’re 19 and you can’t do any normal things. Particularly for a girl who has had some freedoms and attended school without major problems

I'm not keen on Amalia's Erdem frock, the fussy all over chintz pattern, and the large amount of fabric due to the long length of the dress seem to swamp her.
The fabric would have looked much better as a mid calf length dress, or perhaps a tunic worn over trousers.

Amalia’s worn quite a lot of that “loose top over trousers” on this tour, AdaColeman (poor thing, it’s gone on for days and days and days - I wonder if a shorter trip would have been a better introduction for her to the rigours of her role?). So I liked the maxi dress style here. And, it’s one Erdem that I unapologetically love! I think it was a great idea to wear a belt with it, though.

I loved most of Amalia's outfits on this trip, and I even like that Erdem dress. She is so pretty and her hair has been beyond perfect. By the way, I never heard of Erdem until I joined this thread, also some of the brands worn by the Scandanavian Royals, I am now initiated 😀.

Kate is out and about in Falmouth today with William, visiting the National Maritime Museum there (which is excellent, my kids loved it there). In yet another of the eternal mysteries of Kate’s coat shopping habits, she is wearing a Hobbs brown coat with leather straps around the wrists and waist. She has worn this cost several times before, starting in 2012. Except it’s not the same coat today - this one is identical in terms of colour/design/bust darts and pocket style/placement. But it’s several inches longer than then the coat she has previously worn.

You couldn’t let down a cost like that without it looking very visible. So did she buy two of the same style in the same colour 11 years ago and have one taken up, and the other left long? And then hang onto it for more than a decade, just in case? As I said, it’s a mystery! (Here are the costs as worn today, and previously).

She bought two and had one shortened so she can wear one with shorter dresses and the bother one with longer.

I think she keeps her clothes for years.
