.......sits on the sofa wondering if Angela Kelly would be free to give us a masterclass in Granny's chips, HMQ & DIY jewellery, hat, dress etc?🤔........

Her new book is out soon. Perhaps there's tips in it for us

AdaColeman · 06/02/2023 00:47

I wondered if Angela would be involved in the Coronation at all, she's certainly got years of experience of Royal events.
I thought she would very probably do a follow on book!

Maireas · 06/02/2023 09:08

I doubt that Angela Kelly will be involved.
She is now retired, having closely worked as HMQ's dresser for many years, but I don't think she ever organised events?

KillingMeDeftly · 06/02/2023 09:29

I thought Charles threw her out into the cold, so to speak?

CliffsofMohair · 06/02/2023 09:33

If so that’s very harsh. She seemed to be a big part of caring for HMQ during lockdowns

Maireas · 06/02/2023 09:35

I read that she retired on the late Queen's death and was given a pension. She's also allowed to remain in the flat she was living in at the time. The least they could do, imo.

I wasn't thinking of Angela as an organiser, more as her being in an advisory role.

For instance, for many years Angela was involved in robing Her Maj at the Opening of Parliament, so she must have her own list of useful spare items to have to hand.
The Coronation will include changing robes I'm sure, so her experience could be useful.

But perhaps Charles has swept away all his mother's retainers, though I did hear that Lady Susan Hussey would be attending the Coronation.

Charles has called for anyone whose relatives were involved in the 1953 Coronation, to apply for a role in his forthcoming Coronation, for the sake of continuity and tradition, so it will be interesting to see those who become involved via that route.

Maireas · 06/02/2023 11:00

I don't know that Charles swept them away, I think many were probably ready for retirement rather than starting with a different employer. Charles and Camilla have assistants who will no doubt understand robing! Nice call about the relatives.

KillingMeDeftly · 06/02/2023 11:08

Would that mean Charles Spencer gets an invite? I think his father was there in 1953?

Maireas · 06/02/2023 11:25

I would imagine Charles Spencer would be there, also the sisters. Interesting question, though.

I wondered that too.
