So I was thinking the other day about products that I miss that were discontinued & wished were still available. I have finally found a couple of good substitutes for a couple of them.

Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum - this was just brilliant & at at low price.
Sub- Wella Deluxe Style Rescue Pre-Styling Serum, very impressed but pricey.

Seventeen BB Blemish Balm - It was amazing, I didn’t wear foundation for about year!

Boots CYO Lifeproof Foundation - just so good.
sub - this goes for Seventeens BB as well, it’s Nars Tinted Moisturiser, it’s absolutely brilliant, it should be at the price as well!

Seventeen Eyebrow Pencil - natural looking brows, really good colour.

Boots CYO On A Roll Mascara - brilliant. Still can’t find a sub.

There’s probably more but can’t think of them at the moment!

When I was growing up in the late 1980's and early 1990's there was a foundation that was sold in most pharmacies and I can't remember if it was from the brand 17 or No. 7 but I think there was a number in the brand. Anyway, the foundation was in these stainless steel canisters and it was mousse (very similar to the consistency of hair mousse) but you'd squirt it out onto an applicator sponge and then apply to your face.
It was so lightweight as a foundation but gave great coverage. I miss that product.

It was No7 and in a black canister, I had it in the shade Blonde.

Boots botanics all bright cleanser
You could just use it on a cotton pad in the mornings and I've been through maybe 15 bottles of it
Gone Sad

I have one- a mascara that was like a tint. It lasted for about 3 days. It just added colour to your lashes not volume, so you looked like you had naturally long eyelashes. Any subs?

woodhill · 08/01/2023 13:46

I used to like the Clinique sheer lipsticks in silver tubes like Pink Godess

SirVixofVixHall · 08/01/2023 14:18

Cosmetics To Go did a shampoo, in a tube, with a sea theme. I can’t remember the name though. It had the most delicious smell and worked really well with my hair type. I still think of it, decades later !

rookiemere · 08/01/2023 08:26

@SirVixofVixHall I can confirm that the Clinique Calyx is identical to the Prescriptives one. I bought a couple of big bottles 3-4 years ago in the Christmas sales and my last one is going strong. The scent lasts well, so don't need to use much.

Brilliant, thank you.

Craghopper1 · 08/01/2023 15:24

@Friendlyplover I also like the becca backlight, I still have half a bottle but I prefer Niod Photography Fluid so if you've not tried that it's worth a punt.

Daisydreaming1 · 08/01/2023 15:27

Fat hair hair spray. Hair wouldn’t move for months 😂

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2023 15:37

@HappyHogan i worked on the launch of Ocean Dream! I still have some packaging samples and promotional bits and pieces around somewhere. Good to know somebody remembers it fondly. 😊

extrasushiplease · 08/01/2023 15:43

Very Valentino perfume
L’oreal Featherlash
Jordana Tawny lipliner (I’m on my last tiny bit! It somehow complemented every lip shade and looked lovely alone.)

extrasushiplease · 08/01/2023 15:51

Oh, and like many here: the CYO Lifeproof foundation! Will we ever get another foundation so high quality that works for so many people at such a great price? I’m on about the last 5 applications of my last bottle, so I hope so!

Corn silk powder.

Absolutely loved the stuff. Best for my skin but was discontinued years ago and I've never found anything else like it.

No7 used to do a blusher called soft damson, never seen anything close to that colour. They're all too pink or too dark, this was inbetween and the perfect colour.

MistyRock · 08/01/2023 16:39

John Frieda brilliant brunette curl cream. I was amazing and didn't dry all hard and crispy.
Benefit flamingo fancy. Shimmery tan male up. I was obsessed with it.
Estee Lauder limited edition blush petals. So beautiful.
Max factor pan stick in a champagne highlighter shade.
Benefit erase paste and its replacement, both gone.

BeautifulWar · 08/01/2023 16:51

Nina Ricci Deci Dela. Loved it.

I was just thinking of this!

Darklane · 08/01/2023 17:22

So many

Revlon Intimate perfume
clinique shadow liner
Boots Mediterranean range
all Coty makeup
Max Factor perfumes, Electrique, Primitif & Hypnotique
the blonde hair wax that used to be in a flat gold tin..think it was John Frieda
Boots No 7 shiny lip crayon, still make them but not in my two favourite colours, Petal & Beach Peach.
Nailtiques , best thing ever for weak, breaking nails
Chanel perfumes spray on after bath body oils

Oooh thank you! I’ll have a look at that

user1497787065 · 08/01/2023 19:13

I used to love Prescriptives powder

katseyes7 · 08/01/2023 19:22

Both my favourite perfumes, discontinued at almost the same time years ago.
Lancome Miracle So Magic, and Penhaligons Elixir.
I've tried literally dozens (samples) and the only other one l like is Creed Vetiver Geranium. Which is £200 a bottle. My eldest stepson wears it and has very kindly given me a very decent decanted sample, but l can't sponge off him.
I wore perfume all the time, even at home on my own, from being a teenager. Haven't worn any in ages and l don't like it.

Gucci Envy aftershave (not for me, obvs, but my other half). Gorgeous.

Original Source Cranberry Body scrub. I used to stockpile it, but it's long gone.

Vidal Sassoon 3 step hair care (I'm harking back to the late 70s- early 80s here.
Absolutely amazing stuff. I used to get so many compliments on my hair when l used that.

TwigsAndPebblyShit · 08/01/2023 19:23

Tigi Shine Junkie in the little tin

katseyes7 · 08/01/2023 19:24

Back to the 70s again - Max Factor Comb On Mascara.
This stuff was a miracle worker. Just incredible.

Manzana · 08/01/2023 19:45

Boots Cremolia handcream, discontinued about 7 years ago. It was cheap about £1.50 and a strange gel like formula, but it was the best handcream I have ever used. I had used it for about 40 years and my mum before me. It took me many different handcreams to find something that my skin liked and nothing has come close.

Products you loved that were discontinued!
Whytheego · 08/01/2023 19:46

Most of mine are perfumes:

Armani White
Miss Sixty Elixir
Versace V/S
Neutrogena - shower gel (used to have it when was a child and went swimming , smelt so fresh)
Bourjois - 123 foundation (I think it was that one )

Jojoanna · 08/01/2023 19:49

Anne French , still depressed it's discontinued and can't find a decent replacement

rookiemere · 08/01/2023 19:53

user1497787065 · 08/01/2023 19:13

I used to love Prescriptives powder

I still mourn the general loss of Prescriptives although I didn't buy that much from them. I still use an excellent quality powder brush that must be at least 20 years old now and ironically up until now has been used to swirl on Bobbi Browns powder now discontinued.

GellerYeller · 08/01/2023 20:19

Body Shop Mostly Musk oil from the perfume bar.
Bonne Belle Ten o Six deep pore cleanser (was bright orange with a medicinal smell but nothing compares for me)
Mac Viva Glam V lipgloss.
Any of the Lee Stafford hair products before they changed the original fragrance to a bland generic one. Bring it back!
