Products you loved that were discontinued!

So I was thinking the other day about products that I miss that were discontinued & wished were still available. I have finally found a couple of good substitutes for a couple of them.

Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum - this was just brilliant & at at low price.
Sub- Wella Deluxe Style Rescue Pre-Styling Serum, very impressed but pricey.

Seventeen BB Blemish Balm - It was amazing, I didn’t wear foundation for about year!

Boots CYO Lifeproof Foundation - just so good.
sub - this goes for Seventeens BB as well, it’s Nars Tinted Moisturiser, it’s absolutely brilliant, it should be at the price as well!

Seventeen Eyebrow Pencil - natural looking brows, really good colour.

Boots CYO On A Roll Mascara - brilliant. Still can’t find a sub.

There’s probably more but can’t think of them at the moment!

The Duor extase mascara. Expensive but so worth it.

L'oreal 5 in one BB cream. It was amazing. so they discontinued it. AND Kiehls Forest Rain perfume which I really liked but can't find as they discontinued it.

@Nearlyadoctor anne French too. Once it stopped being available in chemists I was buying it on Amazon, 6 bottles at a time, then it stopped there too.

I used it from I was about 13 too, I'm 39 now. My aunt who is 60 also used it too.

The closest match I've found is this but it doesn't have the nice smell.

Sunsilk De Parfum shampoo from about 1988.

I’ve just ordered the 50ml too. My Nan bought mine so no idea of the original cost. Can’t imagine it being too expensive though as my Nan wasn’t known for splashing the cash 😃

Bare minerals did an eyebrow pencil, very thin, in Universal dark or universal light.
was amazing.
Then they discontinued it and replaced it with a giant, thick eyebrow pencil in various colours which is awful.
I can’t find anything even vaguely as good.

I miss this so much too! The new one is so oily on my skin and nothing like the old one

The natural collection toiletries at boots. Sun, swim and gym stuff also boots. Emporium Armani remix perfume.

Herbal essences had a hair spray/leave in conditioner(?) in the 90s. Same smell as the original herbal essences shampoo. I don't think they sold the spray for very long but I remember stealing it from mu mum and applying it so liberally that my head looked like the alps the next day in school 😳also, more recently the neutrogena anti residue shampoo was discontinued. Was the best for leaving hair light and fluffy after washing. Can still get it on amazon but price has jumped from £12 to nearly £40.

All of cosmetics to go-lush was so crap in comparison. Especially the green bath and shower gel and Ginger perfume.
in the 80s marks did a dupe range for Clarins Eau dynamism, well it WAS Clarins. But a fraction of the cost.
Any perfume formulation pre mid eighties (except the headache inducing ones)

There's an Essence version which is just as good from Wilko's or online at Just My Look.

Les Belles by Nina Ricci, the only perfume I've ever truly loved. I like a lot of scents but that was heaven in a bottle to me.

L'Oréal selenium shampoo, WHY?? It was soooo good 😭

Cool toned lipliners from Primark, I bough 10 and am on my last one, can't find a replacement and everything seems to be nude. Blerk.

Not exactly a discontinue more a limited run - Christian Dior did a Summer Sun ? version of Dune which was a lighter more mandariny version. It was PERFECT.

I used to love the OG Dune too but I got a bottle recently and not sure if it's me or the product but it's too powdery to my nose now, and not remotely as mandariny/orangey as it used to be so given up on it!

Paco Rabanne Eau d'metal, loved it in the 80s and then suddenly it was just gone

Nyx Euro Trash lipstick, Pillow Talk dupe and possibly the only lipstick I have worn where I not only got compliments, but people wanting to know what it was so they could get it as well.

Almay make up, especially full and soft mascara. I used to buy a lot of make up from them.

Also that original timotei shampoo which really did seem to smell like summer meadows (probably the advertising) and a delicious apple shampoo from the same era (80s) - all I remember was the spherical green screw top. OK that's going back a while!!!

Superdrug medicated talc
Imperial Leather spray deodorant

All disappeared since the pandemic, though could be a coincidence and I'm just bitter!

Clinique used to do a lovely eye cream. Now they just do a gel and I don't like it at all.

Diego Dalla Palma Ciglione mascara. It was in an M&S advent calendar years ago and I repurchased several times then it got discontinued - haven’t found anything as good.

Boots shampoos. The camomile or henna ones especially (I'm a natural strawberry blonde)... why is everything fake fruity these days? I can't find camomile anywhere but the Boots one made my hair feel fantastic. Nowadays they don't seem to have much own brand and are no better than a generic drugstore.

I have found Timotei online though, so I'm using that at the moment!
