So I was thinking the other day about products that I miss that were discontinued & wished were still available. I have finally found a couple of good substitutes for a couple of them.

Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum - this was just brilliant & at at low price.
Sub- Wella Deluxe Style Rescue Pre-Styling Serum, very impressed but pricey.

Seventeen BB Blemish Balm - It was amazing, I didn’t wear foundation for about year!

Boots CYO Lifeproof Foundation - just so good.
sub - this goes for Seventeens BB as well, it’s Nars Tinted Moisturiser, it’s absolutely brilliant, it should be at the price as well!

Seventeen Eyebrow Pencil - natural looking brows, really good colour.

Boots CYO On A Roll Mascara - brilliant. Still can’t find a sub.

There’s probably more but can’t think of them at the moment!

I miss Boots Natural collection toiletries too. Have they really discontinued them. I loved the milk one with the cow on the packaging.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/01/2023 19:01

I'm like a broken record about this but OM perfume from Gap in the 90s was incredible.

Also the Belles de Ricci delice d'epices. God, that was good.

Gucci Envy for Men

Clinique loose powders that were ever so slightly glowy.

Lipstick Queen Jungle queen lipstick

Revlon Glow lip oil.

Linco Beer shampoo ( in the sachets!)

PooHeads · 07/01/2023 19:16

Elizabeth Arden Let there be Light - a gorgeous face primer / highlighter. Never found anything quite as lovely

Also that original timotei shampoo which really did seem to smell like summer meadows (probably the advertising) and a delicious apple shampoo from the same era (80s) - all I remember was the spherical green screw top. OK that's going back a while!!!

Woodleigh Green Apple Shampoo

A Max Factor mascara - it was either called S-T-R-E-T-C-H or E-X-T-E-N-D. Whatever it was called it was fabulous.

Appalonia · 07/01/2023 19:22

Boots used to do a fantastic, v flattering nude lipstick called Divine. I wore it for years, was heartbroken when it was discontinued! I'd have bought 10 of them if I'd known they were going to do that.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2023 19:24

My much lamented favourites :

BodyShop Absinthe Handwash , £5 a bottle , I used as a showergel
BodyShop lipstick from the early 90s , perfect MMBB , could nevr find one as good
M&S Formula showergel, bodyscrub and cologne , the tubes were white with blue writing and the scent was a flat/oval sandblasted glass bottle replaced by a tall cylindrical bottle
M&S Formula Radience Peel
Topaz shampoo/conditoner (nast from the 80s)

And one I have no bloody clue ,shampoo, the bottle was white with green/blue./purple , the shampoo smelled of coconut and pineapple but not sickly . Cannot remember the name .

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 07/01/2023 19:26

Clinique gentle light powder, and the honey ginger lipstick.
Estée Lauder rose refining face mask.
Lush flying fox shower gel.

Appalonia · 07/01/2023 19:27

Also, Body Shop used to do this fantastic peanut butter face mask, it was so moisturizing and really made my skin glow! I wonder if you can make a diy version of it yourself?

LookItsMeAgain · 07/01/2023 19:28

I've been thinking of this thread throughout today and I remember another range that I wish they would bring back and it's M&S Per Una make-up. They did a divine cream eyeshadow in packaging that looked like a pencil but when you opened it up there was a very soft bristle (almost like a brush) applicator that dispensed enough of the product to cover your eye lid. Was so easy to use, never any mess, never creased, stayed on for ever. They had other things in the range but that was a great item

Wallowingwendy · 07/01/2023 19:29

I miss the body shop smells of the 90s. Yes they were probably vile for adults but I'd love to go back to the 'perfume bar' to smell the testers of fuzzy peach, dewberry and ananya (sp) again.

TwoMonthsOff · 07/01/2023 19:31

per una anything really, the clothes were lovely the tops and knitwear…..I still have a couple of cardigans far too small for me now though 😢
I remember the make up it had little heart design on the packaging

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/01/2023 19:32

I would break my self imposed boycott of the Body Shop ( sorry JKR) if they would just bring back Woody Sandalwood oil.

Calyx by Prescriptives. Also Prescriptives concealer, although the Ordinary one is the same .

Calyx was relaunched by Clinique about 10yrs ago. It’s probably still on some of the consignment, ex stock sites.

HoneyDragon · 07/01/2023 19:36

I will never forgive the body shop for discontinuing Japanese Musk.

gulliblestravels · 07/01/2023 19:37

Maybelline bb cream, dream bb bronze. Best product ever, could wear it with moisturiser or patted on top of foundation. Gutted

Mimimayhem18 · 07/01/2023 19:38

Balenciaga florabotanica perfume- I love it's fresh scent so much and no recommend dupes have come close so far.
Lush flying fox shower gel.
Estée Lauder double wear light foundation, it's replacement is crap.

LynneBenfield · 07/01/2023 19:38

Mine is a recent discontinuation, Kiehl’s damage repairing and rehydrating conditioner. My hair loves it and nothing else seems to do the same job, expensive or cheap.

NewUserName2023 · 07/01/2023 19:39

Flex shampoo (fab smell but only available in europe now) 🥲

Sunshineandrainbow · 07/01/2023 19:39

Body shop japanese washing grains!

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 07/01/2023 19:40

Oh and Mac Paints, cream eyeshadows in little metal tubes. The paint pots are good, but not as good.
I agree with PP that Clinique is a terror for discontinuing good products, IV just remembered a blue mentholy scrub mask that was so good! And a perfume, can't remember the name - Simply? Anyway it was great and it's long gone!

When I was growing up in the late 1980's and early 1990's there was a foundation that was sold in most pharmacies and I can't remember if it was from the brand 17 or No. 7 but I think there was a number in the brand. Anyway, the foundation was in these stainless steel canisters and it was mousse (very similar to the consistency of hair mousse) but you'd squirt it out onto an applicator sponge and then apply to your face.
It was so lightweight as a foundation but gave great coverage. I miss that product.

Collection 2000?

Yes @PenguinLove1 i used to love the Virgin Vie sparkling crackling body spray which gave a nice shimmer rather than looking like you’d been in a craft glitter explosion!
I really miss Estée Lauder Spotlight primer, I email them from time to time to see if they’re bringing it back.

I still have a can of the Virgin Vue body spray that I bought at a VV make up party years ago, still smells great! Victoria Secrets do nice body lotion that gives a really lovely shimmer.

Avon is an absolute nightmare for discontinuing their products. In the Skin so Soft range they used to do a sort of foundation for legs that was brilliant for covering up thread veins (alas I now have 'old ladies legs!') Far more superior than the Sally Hansen stuff, when I realised they had discontinued it I bought a few tubes off Ebay.

Les Belles by Nina Ricci, the only perfume I've ever truly loved. I like a lot of scents but that was heaven in a bottle to me.

I came on here to say this! I have a bottle I paid £50 for on eBay(!) but it's nowhere near as strong as it's so old :(

Also SPICE by impulse! Spice girls branded. It was only a body spray but the scent was out of this world. I miss it so much. They're going for ridiculous amounts on eBay
