So I was thinking the other day about products that I miss that were discontinued & wished were still available. I have finally found a couple of good substitutes for a couple of them.

Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum - this was just brilliant & at at low price.
Sub- Wella Deluxe Style Rescue Pre-Styling Serum, very impressed but pricey.

Seventeen BB Blemish Balm - It was amazing, I didn’t wear foundation for about year!

Boots CYO Lifeproof Foundation - just so good.
sub - this goes for Seventeens BB as well, it’s Nars Tinted Moisturiser, it’s absolutely brilliant, it should be at the price as well!

Seventeen Eyebrow Pencil - natural looking brows, really good colour.

Boots CYO On A Roll Mascara - brilliant. Still can’t find a sub.

There’s probably more but can’t think of them at the moment!

Oh and Mac Paints, cream eyeshadows in little metal tubes. The paint pots are good, but not as good.
I agree with PP that Clinique is a terror for discontinuing good products, IV just remembered a blue mentholy scrub mask that was so good! And a perfume, can't remember the name - Simply? Anyway it was great and it's long gone!

Oh yes that blue scrub ! It was like ground glass but left my skin looking amazing.

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 07/01/2023 19:51

@SirVixofVixHall Yes, nothing got rid of blackheads better than that mask!

Amiable · 07/01/2023 19:51

Nina Ricci Liberty Fizz (the green bottle with pink lid) - gorgeous scent, I've never found a good replacement.

Flex conditioner - that smell!

Soap and Glory Cc cream - perfect level of coverage and shade for me. Been searching for an alternative for years.

Almay make up, especially full and soft mascara. I used to buy a lot of make up from them.

We still get Almay, can you no longer get it in UK?

They are owned by Revlon so if not, that may be why. I recently bought an eyeshadow palette and I do rate it as one of the better, actually its better than the Revlon one I also bought.

ToootToot · 07/01/2023 19:54

@Mimimayhem18 @absolutelyincandescentwithrage Flying Fox: I bought the perfume parlour version of this as an oil approx a year ago and it smells identical, and you can get any of their perfumes as a shower gel. Might be worth a try!

my most missed is the Waitrose baby bottom butter, and the body shop Japanese hot oil spray (spicy musky woody deliciousness).

Kiku perfume, yellow packaging from Boots I think.

Kiku was by Faberge. Fabulous sixties and seventies packaging, with body powder in a big yellow ball, with a huge puff. My Mum had this and I would sometimes use it.

LadyEloise1 · 07/01/2023 19:58

Coty Wild Musk perfume.
Mac Asian Flower lipstick
Cutex Golden blusher.,

Tittyfilarious81 · 07/01/2023 20:08

Salon selectives
Nova hair mousse
Flex shampoo and conditioner
Impulse vanilla kisses, night rhythm and flamenco

mintich · 07/01/2023 20:14

Benefit Moon Beam, I've never found a highlighter this good!
Ruby and millie face gloss I think it was called. I loved it!

Vitriolinsanity · 07/01/2023 20:23

Clinique Stellar Plum lip gloss.

They discontinued it years ago, but luckily due to my addiction I keep finding tubes in handbags/pockets/suitcases.

Identifyingasadolphin · 07/01/2023 20:31

YSL Elle perfume, I loved the menthol top-note.
I do regularly smell something very similar on random passing men - who I never manage to stop and ask….
If anyone has any ideas?

evtheria · 07/01/2023 20:33

I'm still upset over Stella (edp) being discontinued.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 07/01/2023 20:36

Nars The Multiple in Portofino. I have a tiny bit left, so use it just for special occasions now.
Someone up thread mentioned the Horse Chestnut shampoo from years ago, it gave me the shiniest hair!

MzLucky · 07/01/2023 20:51

Just thought of another one. I used to buy a packet of tan wipes from savers for 99p. This would have been around 2010. It was the best tan ever, so natural and lovely.

YukoandHiro · 07/01/2023 20:51

The body shop had a tea tree face scrub around 2003ish that was the only thing that ever kept my skin clear. Then the changed the formula so the hard bits in the scrub were large and black and it stopped working for me. I've never had clear skin since and ive tried everything except accutane. I'm 40 now.

Did anyone else read this and immediately a sassy voice bellowed in their head 'like you've just stepped out of a salllllllllooooonnnnnnnn...SALON SELECTIVES!!!!!"?

Re: the actual topic at hand - Les nuits d'hadrian perfume by Annick Goutal (orange flower banked down by spicy, woody chypre notes: absolutely divine, absolutely unavailable now). And Body Shop shampoo and conditioner from the 00s which smelled a bit like Aveda Shampure but were half the price.

BrokeAsABone · 07/01/2023 21:05

The Body Shop White Cotton perfume..it was such a beautiful scent.

Craghopper1 · 07/01/2023 21:20

Om by GAP. Fab scent.

John Frieda Beach Blonde salt spray - yes they did bring this back but it's not the same at all. Used to be half oil half salt water you had to shake together. Smelt of coconut and gave the best beachy waves.

L'occitane Amber - now been discontinued twice!

Nina Ricci Les Belles De Ricci. My teenage years in a bottle. Currently going for about £150 on eBay

pigwood · 07/01/2023 21:22

Mmm yes Henara did smell lovely. As a teenager I used to use their slightly tinted gloss in a pot. Gave my hair a great shine and golden gleam. I would still be using it if I could.

JW13 · 07/01/2023 21:43

@Strawblue they have it in store at the moment! I've seen both day and night versions in 2 stores in the past week - one in London and one in Wiltshire.

I usually buy 2/3 in one go and (touch wood) have never run out as it's periodically there and I don't regularly shop in Aldi (but do keep an eye online).

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/01/2023 21:45

Finesse shampoo and conditioner. Used to love the smell of that.

Parrish · 07/01/2023 21:52

Clarins cream blusher in rosewood…miss it. Clarins Eau Dynamisante body oil…was gorgeous and my Clarins foundation Teint Primeur…

there’s a theme here…

LookItsMeAgain · 07/01/2023 21:52

@70isaLimitNotaTarget - YES! Woodleigh Green Apple shampoo. It always left my hair squeaky clean too!! Great memory.

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 07/01/2023 21:57

Nars 'the pear' concealer. It was a light yellow stick concealer which counteracted purple under eye circles.

And another one for Revlon Flex - it smelled divine!
