@TerrierOrTerror I’m still mulling over that tie neck shirt. Did it arrive and do you like it?

@JustforToast unfortunately missed the postman whilst out walking the dog. Hoping to collect tomorrow as the delivery office is open Sundays.

Stravaig · 14/01/2023 13:47

@Stoic123 Oh that's a stunning piece, the jewel colours!

@Countmeout That a gorgeous and cosy combination!

I adore hearing how people combine colours and textures and shapes. I get stuck in my own wee rut, and while I like my choices for myself, I also bore myself at the same time. I want more diversity of textile beauty than just my choices!

@Noeggsontoast Thank you for the Inoui Editions mention, lots of gorgeous things! The wool scarves especially - I used to have a fine wool stole from Toast, in deep red & black, roughly 1m by 2m, which I wore threadbare, as a stole, as a lightweight blanket, sometimes as a wrapped overdress when it was really cold. Never found a replacement. Now I know where to look!

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2023 13:49

So my latest haul ( and final one)
Landscape check dress - lots of material around the skirt. Colour/ material is lovely. Jury is out. Seems to make me quite wide.
Ordered a smaller sized item oversized workwear cord shirt dress. It's very nice and I like the navy. So I'm going to keep it.
The biggest surprise is the check cotton utility dress. It is a perfect fit on me. I read thr sizing ( to get your actual size) and the 14 fits like a glove on me. It's more of a tailored look but at £65 or 69, it's a keeper.

Managed to snaffle a velvet pinafore to scratch the itch. It's a beautiful fabric. Slightly tighter on the bust ( I need to lose a few pounds) but I really like it! Dry clean only is annoying and looking at the material, I've no idea why it can't be washed. Seems similar to other velvets I've had from Toast/ Boden. Anyway. I think I've may keep it as its lovely. I doubt I need to really wash it much as its not close to the skin anyway.

That's honestly it for me. I really need to send something back. So will decide later. Its giving me a headache!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/01/2023 14:10

The Embroidered Kaftan dress arrived and, although it is virtually ankle length on me, I love it! Reminds me of my mis-spent youth.

I have experimented with pinning it up to see if it would look better shorter but I think I prefer it really long.
OH doesn’t like it and I don’t know when I’m going to wear it, but it is definitely staying in my wardrobe.

(Crikey, is this thread nearly full already?)

Countmeout · 14/01/2023 14:30

Sorry to be so negative today @faustina but I tried that shirt.( beginning to worry about how much I’ve tried) And like you at 5’4 I felt it didn’t work but maybe better on you as you are thinner I think.
love hearing how all the purchases are going.

Glad you're pleased with that dress, teapot! Am planning to wear mine to a small party this evening.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2023 14:42

My post is huge as in the font is massive! Not sure what I have done. Is this a new setting ive clicked!
Doing it again incase its a new thing.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2023 14:42

Seems to be a setting ive clicked...

ilovecherries · 14/01/2023 14:55

I’m very toastie warm today in the frozen north (Highland north, not English North!). Long sleeved tencel wool layering jumper, cord gabis, navy fairisle from one/two years ago and leather Brasher boots. I haven’t bought anything in this sale.

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 15:16

@lordloveadog - the jumper is very Zoom friendly. Last time I wore on a work call, there were a few compliments.

Snowyowl78 · 14/01/2023 15:26

Now I am tempted to keep the kaftan too! Is it more of a winter or summer dress?? I kind of imagined summer but it’s quite heavy and long sleeved. I really like the cut of the top half.

ilovecherries · 14/01/2023 15:29

Stravaig, I love that combo.

faustina · 14/01/2023 15:34

@Countmeout thanks for the shirt info - which one was it that you sent back? The indigo twill? or the Elena?

@ilovecherries - that sounds like a great combination. I remember some of the pics you used to post and being envious of how you layer things so well

lordloveadog · 14/01/2023 15:38

Snowy, I reckon that dress will work for me all year except high summer. Good with or without tights.

At home we have it quite cold so I've got woolly jumper, tights, thick trousers. But going to friends this evening and likely to be hot in the flat, so reckon dress should be about right.

I've found it very useful so far. Wore it to a Levellers concert, to meetings (am an academic), to a 50th birthday party.

MiracleToast · 14/01/2023 15:38

Bad news toasties. My recently purchased oil burner is leaking and I’ve discovered small hairline cracks on the bottom of the little bowl. Not good Toast quality.

In better news, the botanical block print robe arrived and it’s so gorgeous. It does has those slightly odd opens sections under the arms but as this will be a summer robe that won’t matter. Packing away for warmer months.

Outfit today; ecru loop back rolled edge trousers with toast tshirt and old Celtic fisherman jumper. Nutmeg socks and the fur lined Birkenstock’s. Comfy loungewear giving me all the Toast goodness feels.

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 15:44

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - glad you like the kaftan dress.

@Snowyowl78 - I'm planning to wear late spring days or cooler summer day/summer evenings (Yorkshire). Can see myself throwing it on when the day has cooled a bit for a stroll or to meet a friend for a pre-dinner drink.

Saurus72 · 14/01/2023 15:45

Ooh love a good styling chat! @Stoic123 your lovely yoke sweater is definitely one that got away for me, big regrets for not buying it, it’s gorgeous.

@dudsville here’s a photo of the vv dark green/black dress with the fairisle sweater. Today I’m wearing the denim a-line pinafore with an old & Other Stories blouse. The boots have really zhushed up my wardrobe, I haven’t had them long but already they’re an essential.

Also mulling over some gloves in the Margaret Howell sale tho the ones I really wanted have sold out already…

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 15:52

@MiracleToast - that's a shame. Must be faulty - I've used mine a lot without problems. Customer service might replace?

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 15:53

@Saurus72 - dress looks great with the fairisle.

MiracleToast · 14/01/2023 15:56

Hope so @Stoic123 i really love it and it only arrived a few days ago

Noodle421 · 14/01/2023 16:03

faustina · 14/01/2023 13:21

@Noeggsontoast - thank you so much for mentioning the Margaret Howell sale - they never told me it was on, the bastards! And yes, they are called a scout scarf there, and they look identical! I will have a look at Innoui too - thank you!

I'm having a shirt dilemma. Does anyone have the cotton Oxford shirt in Chambray? I'm wondering how long it would be on me (5'4'). is it as long as the Elena denim shirt which looks great on taller people like Laska but possibly not for shortarse me

@faustina I have the Oxford blue chambray shirt in size 10 and I’m 5 ft 7. I love it but it is quite long and only just works with my height. If I was shorter I think I’d feel swamped by the length, but that is just my opinion.
