Wonderful purchases @JustforToast! I try to stick with items that have that toasty edge.

Having said that, I have had a look at the Iris cotton gown in grey and have decided to try that. I tried it earlier in the sale when only the pink was available in a bigger size. It didn't fit and I didn't like the colour. This grey was available in a smaller size this morning so I've ordered it, but then as soon a I got my confirmation it sold out, so I'm wondering if it will be cancelled.

savvy7 · 11/01/2023 09:57

Does anyone have either the Studio Rua Stone pendant in silver and brass (in the sale) or the Emily Nixon silver and sapphire necklace (not in sale)? Or has tried either and got any feedback please?

I love the velvet @SmaugMum . it would be worth having in the wardrobe just to stroke.

The velvet skirt may have to hang in the wardrobe for the foreseeable as the rain here has been of biblical proportions and the Toast velvet is apparently not meant to get wet for fear of permanent watermarks!

lordloveadog · 11/01/2023 10:41

Mmm, I have a pair of beautiful velvet trousers from a sale a couple of years ago which I can only wear on clear, dry, below-zero days. Considering where I live there seem to be fewer of those than I expected.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/01/2023 11:25

All my orders from Monday have been despatched, I was expecting cancellations as some bits I ordered went out of stock really quickly, so pleased about that.
I have sent back the Almond top in stone green as I didn’t love it enough, also made me feel less guilty about my other orders.

Countmeout · 11/01/2023 12:58

A few new bits have appeared.
These appeal to me except for the very full shape. I like the material but want a straighter leg.

Oh FFS. Now I like the new stuff too.

especially this dress:

and this top, which is certainly not worth £80 but I got the other colour in the sale and it’s really nice

I think I’m going to have to be sensible and wait for the sale.

The Embroidered Kaftan and the Donegal jumper ( grey) arrived and before I even tried it on I knew I was keeping the jumper and the kaftan was going back.
I just didn't like it, ok fabric and I didnt like the embroidery, far too expensive.
Would rather have the £190 for something new.

The jumper is gorgeous, soft and squishy.
I've ordered the other colour Firewood and had a mad moment and ordered the pleated velvet skirt in bitter chocolate.

I bought the Donegal jumper in Firewood and love it , a lot of reviews complained about the shape I suppose they expected a bigger looser jumper but I’m liking the shorter length as I wear a lot of wide leg trousers , plus it looks good over dresses.
I’m tempted by the pale grey now!

lordloveadog · 11/01/2023 13:48

Oh dear, yes, that dress is lovely. Though the neck ties a bit silly.

The trousers the model is wearing with the overpriced tshirt are beautiful

dudsville · 11/01/2023 14:10

I love gingham and would absolutley buy those trousers (reduced in a sale), but I can't see them being something to wear outside. As is usually the case I don't actually like how Toast style their ow clothes!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/01/2023 14:42

I rather like this

But I'm not sure why it is so expensive.

Snowyowl78 · 11/01/2023 15:51

@lordloveadog im not a big fan of neckties, mainly because I want casual every day dresses.

what colour is this? Says mulberry which makes me think purply but it looks brown?

I like this. Could be the perfect dress for work.

For me I think this will be the year of navy. I have my eye on the mariner sweater too.

lordloveadog · 11/01/2023 16:08

I love that Franca dress and think it could be incredibly useful, if it fits well.

OftenOrange · 11/01/2023 16:18

Just received the Peaks dress which looks dull on me , disappointing .
To compensate placed my final order:
Trailing Ikat skirts….will be amazing…or not .
Ochre check sun top ……probably horrid on me , but will be useful
Pistachio poplin top….bought olive F price and love it.( so don’t need another)

ilovecherries · 11/01/2023 16:27

Does anyone know much about dressmaking? I’m not averse to doing minor alterations myself but I have 5 pairs of gabis (some cord/some twill) and several Toast summer dresses that are now probably all two sizes too big. Is that a feasible alteration or do I need to sell them? I’d really rather have them altered as I’m trying to change my mindset around clothes but don’t know if two sizes is just too much and would require them to be completely taken apart and remade which makes it daft financially I suspect. I guess I see about £30 ish per item an amount I’m happy to pay but I have no idea how realistic that is. Any thoughts or experience welcome.

Get the grey!
It's a lovely shape but I don't have a tummy so it sits nicely on the waistband.
I do have a bum and hips though and really don't need thick wool clinging to that!

billydilly · 11/01/2023 17:38

@SmaugSmaugMum How do you find the fit of the velvet skirt? I've had mine for a couple of days and we're eyeing each other uncertainty. It seems a bit lumpy around the waist and makes me seem wider than I am..

dudsville · 11/01/2023 17:40

I love that ikat skirt @OftenOrange , I have also been known to do a compensation purchase or two!

@ilovecherries , I don't have those, but if you aren'tattempting this yourself then there's no harm just asking a loca tailor? Since you have so many paires could yousee how the person does on one and then decide?

MrsCat1 · 11/01/2023 17:46

@ilovecherries I'm a bit of a whizz with the sewing machine. The Gabis might be possible - would need to be taken in at the seams. Do they have seam pockets as that is a complication but doable? As for the dresses it very much depends on the style as to how viable it might be. If they are very simple styles (tunic type) it should be doable, but more complex dresses could be more difficult and if your benchmark is about £30 per garment, then that's just a couple of hours work which wouldn't be doable for anything more complex. You've also got the issue of armholes which may be too big and are unlikely to be able to be made smaller. Not sure if this helps! Good luck!

CureForLove · 11/01/2023 18:12

Would you say the Donegal sale jumper is on the neat of big side? I'm sometimes a M sometimes a L in Toast knitwear... a 12 / 14 in most Toast dresses... Ta in advance!

Good description , the armholes are wide so that it looks relaxed . It isn’t super long nor wide and swingy like the plainer Donegal that didn’t go into the sale.
I took my usual S and like the neatness , but wouldn’t want it any smaller .
If you’re between sizes maybe go more generous .

CureForLove · 11/01/2023 18:36
