Thank you @savvy7 - yes it looks quite small!

MiracleToast · 13/01/2023 17:38

@savvy7 That’s such a shame, I absolutely love that bag it’s my favourite purchase of 2022. Bought at full price. Can fit phone, cards and lipstick plus tea bags 😅

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/01/2023 18:19

Most of my 'final' sale purchases arrived today. The cord gabis in terracotta are keepers, I sized up as I had a pair of the concrete which were too small. The 12's seem to be exactly the same size as the 10's in the normal gabis.

Both the draped utility dresses and the olive workwear shirt arrived really creased. I needed to iron the shirt to see how the shape was going to work on me, it is very boxy but I think it will work well with my wardrobe.

The draped dresses didn’t suit me at all, too much fabric at the bottom, virtually ankle length, and altogether too austere looking. I also struggled with the side zip which was difficult to do up.

So now I’m pinning my hopes on the embroidered kaftan dress which should be arriving tomorrow.

Laska2Meryls · 13/01/2023 18:47

The gingham sale nightdress arrived and is going straight back .. I have a couple of previous iterations of this short sleeve style, but this is just meh.. just too Brown..
I seem to be one of the few who is delighted with the Peaks print dress ...its so fab . Must be just right for my body shape and colour is so very me .. I am wearing it right now at home on a Friday evening !! I can see me getting lots of wear out of it ..quite my favourite buy of this sale

mizu · 13/01/2023 19:06

@Laska2Meryls that's good. It sold out before I could buy, still in my bag but not available now.

I have another TOAST dress in cupro bought in the sale probs 3 years ago ( very very dark green almost black) that I wear all the time with a jumper over the top. Love the easiness of the material.

Stoic123 · 13/01/2023 19:47

@mizu - a few sizes back in stock now.

dudsville · 13/01/2023 20:25

@Stravaig "Miyazaki x Toast roaming dressing room", we must patent this idea.

I tried that nightdress too @Laska2Meryls , i thought the dress was ok but the pjs in the sane fabric iv think are cute.

Saurus72 · 13/01/2023 20:26

@mizu I think I have that same dress - short sleeves, slightly dropped waist? I love mine too, I’ve been wearing it over a fairisle jumper I bought in the summer sale with 90s style ankle boots - my new favourite outfit! I also have that dress in green.

I bought a pair of the orange herringbone socks today - Toast definitely give good sock.

Am I right in remembering someone was asking about the Falke cashmere tights a few pages back? I bought a pair in the sale (still £28 tho…!) and kind of liked them when I wore them the first time - very matt tho. I tore them the second time I wore them, would not recommend on that basis!

mizu · 13/01/2023 20:34

@Saurus72 yes that's the one! Although I've got it in an 8 and it's shrunk a bit in the wash so I can't wear anything underneath!

Always looking out for another on eBay but they very rarely come up.

Will check out the sale again for the peaks dress.

Saurus72 · 13/01/2023 21:05

@mizu I’m an idiot, I meant wearing a jumper over it 🙄. It’s a really fab dress!

TerrierOrTerror · 13/01/2023 21:07

The Olive Check dress is a no from me. A bit gutted as I have been listing after it since it first appeared online. The biggest size still gapes open massively, but is also far too big elsewhere and the material is also weirdly scratchy.

Hoping the tie neck cord shirt is a winner, it should arrive tomorrow unless I miss the postie.

MiracleToast · 13/01/2023 21:43

Sorry to hear that @TerrierOrTerror I have also been eyeing it up and you’ve now just saved me a frantic last sale order. Hope your package arrives tomorrow and you love it

Did anyone try the indigo twill shirt? I have a vague memory of someone saying it made them look like Henry VIII

The Denim jacket has arrived in a 6 and it fits me fine (bizarre sizing) I'm going to have a think about it for a while.

@savvy7 which bag was that? The phone sized one?

Hi @faustina I’ve bought the indigo twill shirt and am very happy with it. I’m always a Toast size 10 but I bought this in a 12 as I wanted it to be more of a layering smock than a shirt. I don’t find the larger size too voluminous. It’s slightly thicker than the pale blue/white/ lys versions but it’s soft and hangs well. Interestingly I didn’t suit the more summery white version - the size 10 did look voluminous on me whereas the pale blue in same material and also a size 10 was fine. I think the white was too glaringly harsh with my colouring which somehow exaggerated the fullness and folds of the top.

dudsville · 14/01/2023 09:57

I also tried the indigo twill. It's a fabulous item but didn't suit me or my wardrobe. There's a new one in the current stock that i like the look of!

dudsville · 14/01/2023 10:13

I'm often reading this thread between work tasks and therefore a little absentmindedly. Perusing back this morning i was reminded @Saurus72 re "I’ve been wearing it over a fairisle jumper I bought in the summer sale with 90s style ankle boots - my new favourite outfit!" I enjoy hearing how people are putting their toast items into outfits. And i liked the way toast paired a check dress with a fairisle, would love to see a pic of your pairing if you had one?

@TerrierOrTerror I’m still mulling over that tie neck shirt. Did it arrive and do you like it?

Snowyowl78 · 14/01/2023 11:26

@Laska2Meryls which nightdress is that?
I love the peaks print too, so easy to wear and flattering. it’s very similar to the same dress in the harlequin print.

Stravaig · 14/01/2023 11:36

I'd enjoy more styling, of past as well as current Toast too.

Last summer I unearthed a bag of lightweight clothes which I don't wear often (Highlands). I found an ancient Toast waffle top in cobalt blue with contrast orange trim, some 15-20 years old, which I'd paired with some 10+ year old Hush goldfish bottoms, to wear as a summer PJ set. It made me smile, so I thought to share it here.

I think of this thread as a Toast through the ages appreciation thread, which is why I still visit. Except it's more of a buy buy buy all the newest Toast thread, which is fun to spectate but harder to participate in. So I mostly just lurk. I came here to post a photo that day, but didn't. Here's one now.

Is there a small chance that sale prices may be reduced again ?
I seem to be in a mindset of wanting to buy pieces that prior to the sale were of no interest .
My best sale buys to date have been the wool cotton check dress , a couple of jumpers ( neat Alpaca in Pear, and Donegal in Firewood) , and the Patchwork Denim Jacket.
For the latter a big thank you to the person who encouraged me.
My last parcel is due today …..

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 12:16

@Stravaig - that's a gorgeous combination. Toast does such great colours. I love hearing about/seeing what Toast pieces people are wearing (not just what they are buying).

I'm fairly new to Toast so most of my stuff is from the last few seasons (some older eBay purchases).

Today, I'm wearing flat fronted jeans (in stock) and the Stripe Lace Yolk Jumper (photo) in teal/green which I just love.

Countmeout · 14/01/2023 12:27

Love those trousers @Stravaig .
I’m wearing this roll neck, navy Gabis and a wine lambswool cardigan. It’s freezing here.

I wore that lace yolk jumper yesterday to present online at a conference. The shoulders are very pretty for zoom!

Wore it the day before with long dark blue wide legs too for actual irl meetings and felt very chic.

Noeggsontoast · 14/01/2023 13:05

I was tempted into one last final hurrah in the Toast sale and purchased the crepe poppy print dress. It arrived this morning. The fabric is really beautiful and I prefer the colours in real life, but the pleating all around the collar made my shoulders look misshapen. It might have benefitted from an iron. Anyway this delivery coincided with a random purchase from Whistles for a black marl knitted dress. I love it, so the toast dress is going back.

@faustina I love your woollen neck scarf and funnily enough I had a look at the Margaret Howell sale this morning and they had some almost identical to yours. I didn't purchase anything though. My favourite scarf shop is Innoui Editions, they do fabulous designs and multiple colour palettes in cotton, wool or silk. The designs on a par with Hermes but not the Hermes price tag. Every way you tie them highlights different colour and pattern contrasts. I have quite a collection now.

I saw the styling video but the only item that really struck me was the cream jacket, in fact I loved the whole outfit the model was wearing with it. I had a very well loved cream jacket years ago which lasted years. It works very well for my skin tone so am very tempted, but not now, I shall wait. Totally done in the sales, even if further reductions.

faustina · 14/01/2023 13:21

@Noeggsontoast - thank you so much for mentioning the Margaret Howell sale - they never told me it was on, the bastards! And yes, they are called a scout scarf there, and they look identical! I will have a look at Innoui too - thank you!

I'm having a shirt dilemma. Does anyone have the cotton Oxford shirt in Chambray? I'm wondering how long it would be on me (5'4'). is it as long as the Elena denim shirt which looks great on taller people like Laska but possibly not for shortarse me

Noeggsontoast · 14/01/2023 13:25

@faustina I didn't know it was on either , they didn't email me but read it on another thread this morning in Style & Beauty.
