Did anyone notice a few new items online and information re ‘new sizing’ for some of those items?

Just had a look @Countmeout - re-sizing, that will be interesting to see when everyone starts reporting back.
Rather like the Mariner lace-up top.

MrsCat1 · 15/12/2022 10:56

Yes I spotted a few nice new things. The new sizing on some things should make life (even more) confusing!

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/12/2022 11:04

I understand that they are reverting to a more 'true' size in their clothing so the sizing down will become a thing of the past.

Snowyowl78 · 15/12/2022 11:24

Oh lots of new! I like that they have listened to customers re sizing, shame they haven’t listened re pricing!

I like 2 new dresses- gathered check and the romilly

Saurus72 · 15/12/2022 13:28

Ooh yes newness! Like the pinafore and the shape but not fabric of the Romilly dress, I hope they have alternative fabric in that one.

TempleofZoom · 15/12/2022 13:42

Nice to see some new things .
I like the check dress but the top of the pinafore is very odd.
I would be concerned my bosoms would pop out !
The cord dress is also really nice but am holding out for a sale as there are a few things I've got my eye on.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/12/2022 18:16

I would like to see someone with a bigger bust wear that pinafore. What a shame. I think it would be a no form me.
Not sure I 'love' that much so far.
Yes, pity Toast is still sticking with ridiculous prices.

happysoju · 15/12/2022 19:51

The new twill pinafore dress looks interesting- but not sure if I own anything that would look good under it. Plus generally I'd like to avoid buying things that only work with 1-2 other things I own, at $450 I'd like some versatility...

Nothing jumping out at me but I hope this new stuff indicates a sale on the horizon for their recent winter offerings.

Laska2Meryls · 15/12/2022 19:58

Re new Toast sizing.. quite frankly I am a bit 🙄that they are now considering size 12-14 as 'large' ...

Countmeout · 15/12/2022 20:05

I am a bit annoyed by the new sizing as I felt I had almost got to grips with the current sizing.

I like the pinafore too but have a bust. And I like the new cord dress which I think is a similar shape to the falling leaves dress, a shape that works really well for me.

Did anyone get the email this morning showing this hat?
www.toa.st/products/bell-shaped-cashmere-hat-mushroom
When I was in one of the stores one of the assistants was trying it on. It was rather nice. I don’t wear hats though .

New sizing? I'm off for a look.

In the meantime, COS's sale started today. The weird, potentially hideous jumper that I'm interested in is reduced so I'm giving it a try, and one pair of barrel leg chinos. Anyone else?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 15/12/2022 22:24

I love hats but I don’t think that one’s for me - although I shall try it on if I ever get to a shop again.
Having looked at the new sizing a bit more, I’m a bit Hmm about it. I’m narrow shouldered and big busted so it might take a few goes before I find the right size.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/12/2022 07:48

Not that happy with the new sizes. I am now a large! Not even sure if it means that they have just labelled the item differently, so you now just take a 12-14 [ meaning large now and a medium in old money]
Also what if you are a 14-16?

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2022 08:16

@neveradullmoment99 i was assuming it meant everything was labelled differently- e.g I am really a 14, I have been buying toast in normally a 12 but sometimes a 10, but was thinking now I’d need to buy in a 14 or a 12. I reckon for a while I will have to order both though! I don’t know what it means for S/M/L as I have a range of those anyway, usually medium or large in knitwear /tops but some small in dresses! I won’t be too thrilled if I have to order Large dresses.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 16/12/2022 08:47

Thinking to the future it will make buying on eBay and Vinted even more difficult with sizing.

You are the same as me then. I am a 14 so have been purchasing a 12 and sometimes even a 10. I suppose they are saying things are more true to size. However with the SML who knows!

Countmeout · 16/12/2022 09:11

Someone will have to go to a shop and report back how they find it for us.
It’s going to mean a great deal things going back and forth until we come to terms with sizing though. Not that I’m buying anything. I would love to know what colour that new green is irl.

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2022 09:21

@Theteapotsbrokenspout thats a good point- will have to ask for the clothes to be dated!

Snowyowl78 · 16/12/2022 09:22

I think it’s good that they are now doing a 4, not that it applies to me but since their 8/10 is often really a 12/14 it’s a bit more inclusive.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 16/12/2022 10:44

My tie front floral dress arrived today. Unfortunately a bit of a disappointment.

I had failed to notice the sleeves gathering into the neck and that is a very unflattering shape for me. The 10 was a snug fit on the top which means I couldn’t wear it over my (thin) thermal top, but the bottom half was very voluminous and reached my ankles.

Probably a lovely dress for someone the right shape, but for me not even a sale price would make me love it.

Saurus72 · 16/12/2022 11:20

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I had the same experience with that dress, just not great for me at all. I think because I have so many Toast dresses now that are mostly in heavy rotation (as well as the increasingly eye watering prices) any new ones I buy have to be as good as or better than those, and they rarely are.

Not really sure what to think about the new sizing, except that I agree it will make things more difficult for a while - I guess until they switch all the sizing over. I don’t really mind what the label says if there’s consistency.

ScottishMouse · 16/12/2022 12:01

I have just been to a store and tried on some new knitwear items. Re sizing, I didn’t really notice a difference in them. I would usually be either a small or a medium in knitwear. The cardigan I tried worked in both small and medium, and the sweater I tried (and bought 😱) is size s/m. Which is what I would have gone for in old sizing.
www.toa.st/collections/womens-new-collection/products/fair-isle-yoke-sweater-blue-multi

So, I’m not sure I can say much useful about the new sizing.

I went in to buy a cardigan for my sister, and came out with a sweater for myself and nothing for my sister. Uh oh.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/12/2022 12:26

The sizing in the jumper you bought @ScottishMouse though doesn't really make sense though.
XXS/XS - Size 4-8
S/M - 10-12
L/XL - 14 -18

Both the XXS and the L have a jump of 3 sizes 🤔
Weird
Suppose its how you want to wear it though. Not so easy with a dress.
