How exciting!

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2023 08:35

@AFingerofFudge ooh that’s exciting. I wouldn’t mind an idea of what this colour actually is, looks brown, but ‘mulberry’ suggests it’s more maroony.

also! What would be reeeaaally helpful is thoughts on the new sizing. I am loathed to try out lots of sizing after my sales experience of having loads of toast money stuck in Inpost purgatory. E.g. if you’re normally a 10 in all trousers are you now a 12 in all trousers, and if you were a small in tees/tops are you now a medium in everything etc. Any feedback useful!

AFingerofFudge · 13/01/2023 08:40

@Snowyowl78 I Will see if it's in stock. I do plan to try a few things on so I'll see what the sizing is like too. I have a few things on the list in my head, I also might find some new motivation to sell some things a kidney on eBay!

Laska2Meryls · 13/01/2023 08:43

Yes new sizing thoughts would be great.. what would be great is if you think the sizes are now comparable to say M&S sizes ( as we probably all know our size there) ... I.e if a 12 or 14 is about the same .. that would be really good...Sadly I don't have a Toast shop anywhere near me .

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2023 08:45

@AFingerofFudge thank you! Enjoy!

Countmeout · 13/01/2023 09:18

Look forward to some photographs @AFingerofFudge .
agree re the sizing.
Did you just order your normal size in the top you ordered @Laska2Meryls ?

I am also interested in what weight the cream coat is, although it will have to be a sale buy and the length of the sailor collar cotton sweater. It looks quite long on the model.

I love that cream coat but the price😵😵😵

neveradullmoment99 · 13/01/2023 09:40

I agree about sizing. Would be good to know.
I think, judging by the prices, buying from Toast will be for a one off rare treat or sale/ birthday for me.

Countmeout · 13/01/2023 09:40

Well exactly @neveradullmoment99 that’s why it’ll have to be sale 😳.
It looks as though it might crease easily too in photos on Instagram.

@Countmeout I sized up one, but only because I thought that they ran small last year... And also did for the fenugreek trousers but I had been buying xs in those styles previously (those with elasticated waist) and I would go for a 12 in M&S for that type of trouser..
The tee and trousers have been sent so I will report back when they arrive

Laska2Meryls · 13/01/2023 09:46

Cream and coat sadly will never compute for this mucky pup! I love the shape of it though

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2023 09:46

I’ve just added up what I spend in the Nov/Dec sales, it’s best I stop looking at the new collection!!!

FiddleFigs · 13/01/2023 09:58

Well, my recent batch of sale purchases are going back. The Peaks dress, which I longed for since it first came out didn't thrill me once I had it on. And the blouson sleeve checked shirt - loved the fabric and the cut of the body but the sleeves were just too much and an awkward length on my frame.

I did make one final sale purchase (the fair isle jumper, down to £70) - that's due today.

Trying to avoid looking at the new things - I do like the deep V pinafore though and the crinkle cotton drift check dress, and much more besides!

dudsville · 13/01/2023 10:18

I tot up my total shopping by calendar year, and that worked out at £150 a month in 2022, which is manageable, but also I don't need to be growing a wardrobe anymore so I intend/hope to slow down.

So far this year all I've bought is the burnt orange heathery jumper. It arrived ths morning. When both it and the patch pocket denim skirt came out I thought they'd make a cute outfit. Very pleased to own them both at the sale price.

Bizarely that skirt looks like it's been slightly redesigned into the new side button skirt, I much prefer the stremline the zipper gives.

I also recieved the montella linen smock dress - I didn't bother trying it on as the fabric looked so dull.

I dream of a future scenario in which orders we place go to a shop where we can have a trying on session and immediately hand back things that don't work. It wouldn't even have to be a shop, just a roaming dressing room.

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2023 10:29

@dudsville that would be amazing! I have found the recent sales rather stressful with returns nightmares (and also ordering too much!)

Stravaig · 13/01/2023 10:36

I've ordered the Kick Flare trousers in Oil. I want to see how the cut compares to Toast trousers from 10 to 20 years ago. I also wonder how they've managed to make 100% cotton velvet averse to water. They'll not get coddled here, by me or the sky! Has anyone tried washing the velvet items yet?

My order history shows I didn't buy a single thing in 2022, not even to try and return. Apparently the no-spend crown comes with a tsunami of disgruntled curmudgeon about everything new Toast 🤣

@dudsville Love the Miyazaki x Toast roaming dressing room!

AFingerofFudge · 13/01/2023 13:18

Will update tomorrow afternoon properly on new stuff as now with friend until then. Amazing stuff, want to buy so much. There were some things they didn't have in yet, but sizing is definitely much more true to size.

lordloveadog · 13/01/2023 13:19

I hope that doesn't mean they've stopped making the largest sizes!

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2023 13:21

I just got the embroidered Kaftan dress delivered. It is rather beautiful in colour and fit and the embroidery, but I think I’m not brave enough to wear it, and I’m also not sure where/how I would wear it. It’s lovely though, much more flattering than I imagined. Very long, almost to my ankle!

im sending the silk border ochre dress back, I’ve decided it’s too delicate and high maintenance to keep. That said if they knock some more money off the price, which I think they might, then I may reconsider.

savvy7 · 13/01/2023 13:36

I've just had the Bleu de Chauffe olive bag delivered. It is lovely, darker than in the pictures, and fantastic quality. The only problem is that it can't fit my essentials in it (phone, purse, keys) so is sadly a return for those reasons.

savvy7 · 13/01/2023 13:45

The Botanic Print nightdress is a hit, very pretty

faustina · 13/01/2023 14:47

Did anyone try the indigo twill shirt? I have a vague memory of someone saying it made them look like Henry VIII

The Denim jacket has arrived in a 6 and it fits me fine (bizarre sizing) I'm going to have a think about it for a while.

@savvy7 which bag was that? The phone sized one?

Countmeout · 13/01/2023 15:02

I tried it on in store @faustina . For me the fabric was too heavy. It didn’t sit as nicely as the white poplin which I have. Sizing was similar.

OP posts:
savvy7 · 13/01/2023 15:08

It was the Bijou bag. I could fit my phone in but not much else as there are 4 internal compartments which are quite tight.

faustina · 13/01/2023 15:08

@Countmeout - thanks - might give it a miss then!
