Flannels advent calendar opening thread 2022

Thread for anyone who has the Flannels 2022 advent calendar and would like to discuss contents.

In line with the waifs and strays thread I suggest no earlier than 7am for discussing that days contents? Also if we can try to minimise naming the contents still to come as I've tried to forget!

I'm hoping someone will join me, think a few of us got this one as a total bargain

Well there's my sparkly eyeshadow! Funnily enough that's what I got in both calendars, but a different brand in LiB. At least I'll be sparkly for New Year...

This palette is quite intimidating. Think it'll need some practice. I swatched the colours though and the blue looks amazing.

What a gorgeous thing to open today! That’s what drew me to this calendar - the bits like this that I would probably never buy myself but feel like a real treat.

QueefofSheena · 20/12/2022 09:49

So happy with today’s (that I opened yesterday 😬) I’m back on track now though, no peeking today.

H3lloMums · 20/12/2022 13:45

I forgot about this sparkly eyeshadow too! Lots of sparkles in the calendar - just wanted to check on the Deon one, is it quite dry for everyone else? Not much pigment coming off mine, am I doing something wrong?

Sorry Roen!

KimmySchmitt · 20/12/2022 19:34

@H3lloMums it is quite dry for me and I wasn't impressed when I swatched it on my hand but have you tried it on your eyelid? It's nice, quite glittery but not cheap-looking.

Yes just didn’t seem to be much happening, will
try again though.

Fancy expensive lip balm today. Revive Intensite. Haven't tried it yet as I have a cold sore, has anyone given it a go? It's always handy but I'm sceptical about whether it'll be any more effective than cheapy Blistex.

Molecule 01 smells like fly spray on me.
I once asked a stranger on the street what perfume she was wearing as it was so nice and it was Molecule 04.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 21/12/2022 08:20

Tried the lip balm this morning before heading out. I like it.. It feels quite thick and lips feel soft now it has worn off. Not convinced by the applicator thing being superior to a stick but it works okay and needs to be like that to manage the texture I suspect

LadyEloise1 · 21/12/2022 08:39

€86 for a lip balm !
Yikes.

QueefofSheena · 21/12/2022 09:00

I was straight into this today as my lips are suffering at the moment. So far, so good. I was shocked to see that it’s £45 though!

buckeejit · 21/12/2022 14:24

Gah, I just bought blistex t'other day:

Not sure whether to keep the palette from yesterday or gift to dd. It's lovely packaging & glad there was no glitter in it - think Pat McGrath used to do that. I generally shy away from glittery eyeshadows but should maybe try them a bit more. Off to google some YouTube vids on mid forties shimmery eyeshadow

I don't think Flannels is a good name for an upmarket department store.
Misses the point of the thread.

Flannels was originally an upmarket menswear store and cricket whites are known as flannels.

"....Cricket whites are known as flannels."

So are face cloths.

I'm not in the UK.
But a Flannels has opened here where Debenhams used to be.

You learn something new every day, I did not know this.

Benefit They're Real Magnet mascara today. Fine. I used to love Benefit but feel like I maybe aged out of the brand, but I'll use it.

I'm too lazy to wear mascara everyday - feel like it takes more effort to remove it than other makeup?! But will add to my stash & maybe try to wear it more often next year. Also sort of feel like I've outgrown benefit.

This may be my best calendar for the money. Dh has bought me Liberty & jo malone in the past but this has been great value. I've opened 25 & flying out for Christmas tomorrow so looking forward to the last 2 later 😁

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 22/12/2022 09:15

I also feel a bit like I've been there and done that with Benefit a bit, but it's definitely usable.

Buckeejit I used to only use tubing mascaras that come off with warm water for the same too-much-faff-to-remove reason until I discovered Garnier Micellar cleansing water which makes it a doddle to get off

LadyEloise1 · 22/12/2022 09:23

@buckeejit I too find mascara so much effort to remove it that I rarely wear it and am allergic to practically every remover under the sun.
The skin around my eyes gets inflamed.
Red and swollen for days.
Garnier Micellar doesn't work for me.
Even tubing mascaras - all the rubbing with warm water affects my eyelids. Sad

KimmySchmitt · 22/12/2022 09:26

I didn't like micellar water and find some eye make-up removers irritating, but I just use a balm cleanser like Clinique Take the Day off with a Face Halo and mascara comes off quite easily.

Bioeffect EGF serum this morning. I was in a rush so didn't look at it properly but am I right in saying it's 5ml? That's a bit disappointing for 23rd December, I know it's very expensive but it's just never enough to see if it's worth it. Even 10ml would be okay.

OP posts:
QueefofSheena · 23/12/2022 15:08

I looked on their website, the 5ml ‘try me’ size is £49!

KimmySchmitt · 23/12/2022 18:47

Oh my god @QueefofSheena ! Maybe 10ml is too much to ask for then 😂 I've just cleansed and put a few drops on and it actually does feel very luxe. The bottle and everything feels much nicer than any Barbara Sturm etc products I've had that are in a similar price bracket. Nice to have a product that moisturises and repairs rather than exfoliates for a change.

OP posts:
Wagsandclaws · 23/12/2022 19:16

I've been reading this thread and haven't contributed ( sorry! ) but just wanted to say that the EGF serum is a game changer for me.

I took it out when I got the calendar as I couldn't wait to try it having seen an influencer using it.

Oh. My. Goodness! My skin since using it is amazing. I bought the full size when they had a 20 percent off about 3 weeks ago along with the eye serum and the day serum ( it's a bit less sticky ).

Anyway just to say you don't need that much, about 3/4
Drops does it for my whole face and the little bottle is still half full.

I used to use dermatica retinol on my skin but it made it peel no matter how long I used it so I changed to this and wow is all I can say!

Sorry about the essay but yes this is a really amazing calendar and I've loved using the bits each day however the EGF serum was a revelation for me ( spendy though so I buy from look fantastic and pay over 3 months with klarna ).

Enjoy the last couple of days of this calendar, it's been outstanding and Happy Christmas/holidays to you all 🎄
