Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

I definitely wrote ‘borrow’ there!

Although if the occasion called for it, I’m fairly sure Camilla could indeed bottle someone 😂

NiqueNique · 22/09/2022 09:27

Haha yes! She’s great.

Has anyone else noticed that Edward is starting to look a lot like Charles? I was struck by how similar their faces are now that Edward has a bit of an older man’s face.

Out of all the late Queen's children, I think Edward looks the most like her. Anne is very much like her great-aunt Princess Mary but I'm not sure who Charles and Andrew take after. None of the DoE's sons inherited his good looks, that's for sure!

NiqueNique · 22/09/2022 09:03

Oh @JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon that’s a fine tiara! Are you going to let Camilla bottle it if she wants to wear it again?

Oh yes, she wears it so well, I'd love to see her wear it more. Hopefully now she is Queen she will wear tiaras more often and will go for the big grand ones.

KnickerlessParsons · 22/09/2022 10:24

I think Charles has his father's eyes and Harry is the spit of Phil. William is a Spencer, though with the Windsor no hair gene.
There are rumours about Andrew's parentage......

MotherofPearl · 22/09/2022 10:32

Max, CPM, and Leti are all in NYC!

Max looking good in a red trouser suit (and those curtain tassel earrings she favours!).

CPM looks lovely and quite summery, though I think my views on asymmetrical hemlines are well-known, so will say no more on that front.

This photo doesn't show Leti's white outfit to best advantage but I love the embrace with Dr Jill so chose it for that.

William actually looks very much like the old Duke of Kent, father of the current duke. Although he managed to reach his 40th year with his hairline intact!

meateatingveggie · 22/09/2022 13:04

Kate and William are in Windsor. She looks lovely in another military type dress/coat I think we've seen before. I really like the shape of it.

Lovely earrings too. Pearls again but simple.

RomainingCalm · 22/09/2022 13:15

I think it's this D&G coat that Kate is wearing. She wore it previously for a Remembrance Day service.

There's definitely been a gold button theme over the last few days.

How long do the royals dress in mourning colours these days

Serenster · 22/09/2022 13:36

Good to see she’s getting use out of her Remembrance Day wardrobe (hats and coats).

I was pondering while watching coverage of what the Royal ladies have been wearing over the past fortnight that they probably do get advised that, if they have a coat or dress style they particularly like, to get one made in black too to have hanging in the wardrobe when they need it. Highly sensible if you have unlimited funds and wardrobe space and know you’ll be called on to attend funerals and sombre ceremonies (I was heavily pregnant last time I had to attend a family funeral and had to do some stressful last-minute shopping!).

Spudlet · 22/09/2022 13:40

It looks much better with her hair down (I think though maybe it was just the particular updo that she went for that time that I wasn’t so keen on).

Yes, funeral shopping is no fun. It always feels a bit frivolous to be thinking about what you’re going to wear to something like that, also it is of course also important because it’s a way for showing respect. If you could try to be prepped in advance, I think that’s very sensible. One less thing to worry about.

I think it used to be several months at least, but Charles has ordered a seven day (after the funeral) mourning period for the RF.

I’m not 100% sure, but court mourning was announced to be for 7 days after the funeral, so I would expect they will be back to normal on Tuesday next week? Will be interesting to see if they do go back to wearing a normal wardrobe, or if they stick to dark colours/grey/mauve etc, which were the traditional Victorian “Half-morning” colours.

Apparently after George V died in 1936 the court was in mourning for six months, with another 3 months half-mourning after that! Times have certainly changed….

Serenster · 22/09/2022 13:50

We cross-posted, @SenecaFallsRedux !😀

Spudlet · 22/09/2022 13:55

I’d have thought they’ll probably stick to muted colours for a while at least. It would feel really jarring for them to leap straight from black everything to really bright colours. And almost a bit wrong - like we’ve had our couple of weeks of being sad, and now we’re over it!

Oh is this today they are out and about ? That’s nice if they are still meeting people. I know Charles has gone to Balmoral

SenecaFallsRedux · 22/09/2022 14:53

I think that Charles and Camilla (and hopefully Anne as well) plan to spend the seven days of mourning with their feet up doing nothing. I'm tired just from watching TV for a week (on a UK schedule); I can't imagine how exhausted they must be. And from the experience of burying my parents, I know that the grief can hit really hard in the quiet aftermath of funeral planning and execution.

SenecaFallsRedux · 22/09/2022 14:55

I should have mentioned Edward in the above as well.

meateatingveggie · 22/09/2022 14:58

Edward is in Germany and Anne has gone down south somewhere.. out and about already. I thought they weren't doing engagements throughout the mourning period but seems they are.

NiqueNique · 22/09/2022 15:02

And poor Sophie. Of course it’s not the same for her as it is for the Queen’s children, but she and HMQ were by all accounts very close, especially after the death of her own mother. She has looked absolutely devastated this entire time. I hope they all have a few stiff drinks, a cry when needed, and some good laughs too remembering the funny bits.

SenecaFallsRedux · 22/09/2022 15:21

Yes, I think it hit Sophie very hard.

I also really feel for Camilla for different reasons. She looked really devastated as well, but in her case, I think some of that comes from her not really wanting to be Queen. I think her preference is to be with her children and grandchildren, her horses and dogs, with lots of books to read in the country. She loves Charles and has always supported him, and that's why she's with him, but I think she has sacrificed a lot. I may be projecting a bit; that quiet life is what I am looking forward to right now (except for the horses and the big house in the country part); I just cannot imagine taking on her responsibilities when most people her age (and the King's) have already been retired for a decade or more.

I really thought that about Camilla @SenecaFallsRedux , I can’t imagine she relished the prospect at 74. Also it relegates her family even more to a second class status which must be a strange dynamic
