On Tuesday she was at the Royal Geographic Society for the inauguration of The Heart of Arabia Expedition which will trek across the Arabian Peninsular from coast to coast in commemoration of the expedition by Harry St John Philby a hundred years ago.
Philby's task was mainly map making, but due to the contacts he made, he became influential in the politics of the area.
His son Kim Philby, was the notorious spy who sent hundreds to their deaths during the 1950s and 1960s, before his infamous defection to Moscow.

Anne was dressed in grey tweed (a half mourning colour) with the jacket relieved by some lovely appliqué work.

The navy suit is a bit BA cabin crew but she does seem to like that look. Didn't Carole and Michael work for BA at one point? Maybe that explains it!!

To me it looks more like she's had some layering done to the ends, which I'm not so keen on.

Leti looks sharp and professional in her grey trouser suit, but it's a hard no from me to those shoes with the clear plastic strap I'm afraid.

I like it too! A stronger, more modern look. I like the cut of Leti’s suit, but like others, I don’t like the plastic shoe strap. I don’t see the point of them!! You can still see them and they look sweaty 😳

I actually quite like that clear plastic strap. It's funky and modern. Unless it's meant to be invisible, in which case it's rubbish 😆

I think the business-y trouser suit is a really good royal look. Smart, stylish and not too prissy.
I really think Kate has grown into her role like a champ and she, Leti and lots of the other Euro royals just look elegant and regal. I'm sure their secret involves good genetics and a LOT of self control!😊

I agree. "Prissy" is a great word and really sums up some of the things that I don't like about some types of royal style choices.

Those plastic shoe things are odd. I still don't have clue how they keep those stilettos on their feet without straps of some kind, though. I have narrow feet, and I have trouble even finding flats that I don't step out of. I wonder if some of those shoes are bespoke.

Checking into Instagram I follow a UK style icon. Actress aged around 90 Yesterday's picture I thought OH she's not well or maybe an off day. Reminded me how I felt when I saw some of the queens final pictures. It's perhaps weird to feel invested in a complete stranger but I do miss the queen as if I had known her

CPV muscling in on the trouser suit action. Less keen on this one. The checked pattern is a bit much, as is the preponderance of grey. Maybe a black or cream silk top would have looked better, though perhaps it was a cold day.

Her hair looks less scraped back than usual here, and all the better for it.
