A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

I think they must have had a wardrobe of black clothes ready prepared. The days following the Queen's death were so meticulously planned that all the Royal's will have known what events / occasions would be required of them so will have everything ready to go.
Feel sorry for Meghan in that respect, she's away from home so was probably trying to improvise for the first few days until she could get a full wardrobe organized.

Would be a great raincoat for ‘The Queue’

Genius idea 👍👍👍

Yes they will all have had outfits and jewellery ready and every detail will have been carefully planned. It all needs to run like clockwork as things are set into motion the instant the Monarch dies. Nothing will have been left to chance.

NiqueNique · 16/09/2022 09:10

@KillingMeDeftly just saw that! Interesting...

RomainingCalm · 16/09/2022 09:13

Apologies for the DM link but apparently these are the overseas Royals who will be attending on Monday. Some nice pictures and a handy 'who's who' for people like me who are easily confused!

Serenster · 16/09/2022 09:19

There will also be a reception on Sunday at Buckingham Palace for all the visiting heads of state - mourning dress will apply, though, but I’m sure we will see some jewels there.

Also King Charles and Queen Camilla will be arranging some state visits now they are the new heads of state - something to look forward to!

MotherofPearl · 16/09/2022 09:57

I see in the papers that Camilla has a broken toe! Apparently she broke it before HMQ's death and has been carrying out all her duties this last week in spite of being in pain. No wonder she looked like her feet were hurting a few times. Poor woman.

thebabessavedme · 16/09/2022 10:01

Another one here apologising, I wont do the link to the DM but they do have a really interesting piece on the Queens Tiara collection, lovely photos and a bit of the history of each one.

Sooverthemill · 16/09/2022 10:39

Members of the royal family always travel with at least one set of mourning clothes ready. And tbh it would have been daft not to given the queens age and frailty. I am sure Meghan had at least one outfit with her I kind of think she would have kept a wardrobe full of appropriate clothing at Frogmore in case. I don't know how I know that but it's like them travelling separately

KillingMeDeftly · 16/09/2022 11:16

Even if they didn't, I'm sure most designers would drop everything in order to rustle up an ensemble for Meghan or Kate to wear to the Queen's funeral.

I just read the list of royalty and government heads who are attending the funeral. I would not want to be the one in charge of the security arrangements!

frugalkitty · 16/09/2022 11:17

Another one pointing out the Mail has a fab article about the Queen's tiaras.....can someone do the link please?

NiqueNique · 16/09/2022 11:19

CPM got an invitation to the funeral by accident and it was subsequently apologetically rescinded!

gingercat02 · 16/09/2022 11:21

It's just been announced that Harry will wear his uniform for this vigil tomorrow. Charles has requested that he and William both do.

All HMQ grandchildren will be there including James and Louise.
Really glad they have modernised enough to allow Zara, Bea, Eugenie and Louise to attend.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/09/2022 23:05

I've just seen this on Twitter — I think Daisy will have to find a more sombre raincoat if the funeral is a drizzly day!

That is truly incredible

Serenster · 16/09/2022 11:30

Here you are frugalkitty. It’s a bit slapdash though - they talk of the Delhi Durbar tiara, but then show photos of the emerald setting of the Vladimir, and they miss out a couple that are still around. They also add in Princess Anne’s meander tiara which was Prince Phillip’s mother’s tiara and never belonged to the Queen

I think she's still attending though, with Daisy and Fred.

NiqueNique · 16/09/2022 11:34

No, she’s not attending. It was an error and only Daisy and Fred will attend.

Serenster · 16/09/2022 11:35

With reference to my post above - here is the Delhi Durbar tiara, and the Vladimir tiara in its emerald setting - they are quite different!

The photo captioning can be very hit and miss on DM.

The Vladimir tiara is exquisite.

Bit gauche to backtrack on an invitation though 😬

NiqueNique · 16/09/2022 11:46

Alternatively it could have been a misunderstanding on the Danish side? Not sure how it all went down. Anyway she’s not going. And probably quite moody about it. Wink

StartupRepair · 16/09/2022 11:47

Poor Mary! And as an Australian she was a subject of the Queen's.

KillingMeDeftly · 16/09/2022 12:36

Ouch. Still, we all know that she prefers a certain other kind of event to funerals!

It looks like Spain's Queen Sofia AND King Juan-Carlos will both be attending. He's quite frail now and can't remember when I last saw a photo of him out in public but clearly this is an extra-special occasion.

I saw the Vladimir on my recent trip to a Buckingham Palace and it was stunning.

Serenster · 16/09/2022 12:52

The Spanish Royal family and British Royal family seemed quite close, I think - Juan Carlos’ grandmother was herself a granddaughter of Queen Victoria and Queen Sofia was a cousin to Prince Phillip. I think they holidayed together in the past?

I think his attending is quite controversial In Spain, given the financial scandals he’s embroiled in.
