A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

I liked Sophie's dress today as well as Kate's outfit. The pictures of her hugging the young boy in Manchester were lovely.

And yes, that's a tough one for the grandchildren, particularly the younger ones. I wonder whether they asked to do it and I am sure that they will do their Granny proud.

Yes she was beautifully turned out as usual. It must be very hard for her as well - she and HM were close, particularly after Margaret’s death.

Apparently Lady Gabriella Windsor fainted as the coffin was brought into Westminster Hall.

One life ends, another begins?

Hi, I'm a long time lurker, very much enjoy these threads. My friends and I were in London the weekend before last and did the tour of the state rooms at Buckingham Palace. It was just amazing to see, especially rooms that you've seen on tv, and the Bow room and throne room. There was also a small exhibition of photos and jewels, including the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, and a beautiful emerald necklace with a piece of the cullinan diamond. I was absolutely gobsmacked that these pieces were real, and not replicas. The staff member said that the queen was on her holidays at the moment and wouldn't need them! I live around 45 mins away from Balmoral. It was lovely to see the cortège winding through the lovely towns in royal Deeside at the weekend, with the sun shining.

Maireas · 15/09/2022 21:35

@theladylovescupcakes - how lovely that you live near Balmoral, it's beautiful there, it's good that you were able to see the cortege.
That display sounds fascinating - tiaras and other jewels always look so beautiful in real life. The stones appear to glisten and glow, don't they?

This is one to cheer us all up.

Do we think Max has Gone Too Far with the headdress this time? Grin

Twitter suggesting Kate was in modified McQueen today. Looks pretty close to me. Wonder if she had a wardrobe of mourning made up in advance.

Looks like she's about to take a starring role in Midsommar 2!

Eaumyword · 15/09/2022 22:04

I love a Kate look - she looks fabulous as ever, but understandably quite strained.
I like Sophie's dress like a shirt dress.
Max - quite bonkers, joyful and lovely. She's a beautiful woman with heaps of confidence. You can just see her saying nope, let's really go for it! Mad headdress on&let's go 😂

RaraRachael · 15/09/2022 22:05

Have I missed something? Max?

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands; picture upthread in the pink dress and bonkers floral headdress.

AdaColeman · 15/09/2022 22:38

No! She's Marvellous Max, how could she go too far?

King Will Alex, Max and Princess (former Queen) Beatrix will be in London on Monday according to HoO website.

NiqueNique · 15/09/2022 22:40

Oh I think it’s fabulous! And she wears it so well. Love the outfit too.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/09/2022 23:05

I've just seen this on Twitter — I think Daisy will have to find a more sombre raincoat if the funeral is a drizzly day!

She made that coat out of that wipe down tablecloth fabric. True story.

Oh yes, one of our old faves on Royal S&B...it’s certainly, uh...eye catching.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/09/2022 23:11

I really must visit you more on these threads, I'm missing out! I suppose a waterproof tablecloth would be good at keeping you dry...

I also enjoyed a picture of her on a rollercoaster with a hat on, I hope it was firmly pinned!

MotherofPearl · 15/09/2022 23:12

My eyes!

That raincoat really is quite something. I remember reading that too, Maireas, about its tablecloth origins!

justasking111 · 15/09/2022 23:15

Max channeling Margaret Thatcher in the dress so retro. Then the wakestock head piece. She never disappoints 😂

LadyEloise1 · 15/09/2022 23:46

@KillingMeDeftly
Perhaps ? 😉

AdaColeman · 15/09/2022 23:49

I love Margrethe in that rainmac, she just needs one yellow and one red wellie to style it out! Grin Grin

CliffsofMohair · 16/09/2022 00:01

Would be a great raincoat for ‘The Queue’
