A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Thank you everyone: this was a nice place to be today 💐

George looks nothing like the Spencers or Windsors! He's Mike Middleton v2.0.

And Charlotte. Both the image of MM

CliffsofMohair · 19/09/2022 19:55

Max looks great. Love the hat. Very Italian drama circa 1950

Another lone watcher here, who was so glad of the friendly chatty company on this thread today! Thanks

Things I especially liked today include
The footmen petting and making a fuss of Muick & Sandy.

That the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg attended, as his father had been very close to the Queen, ever since joining our armed forces during WWII, and engaging in the fighting to liberate Europe, when he helped liberate his own country.

All the fab hats and pearls!

Special mention for Sophie who really upped her game today, Charlotte for behaving so well and her sweet hat, Charlene just for being there and looking so chic.

meateatingveggie · 19/09/2022 19:59

This has been my favourite thread for a long time (name changes galore). I've enjoyed it today too, so thank you ladies Flowers

I think Charlotte took the style crown today. I loved her hat and her little brooch.

Looking forward I am excited to see the royal ladies wear Her Majesties jewellery. I hope they do it often.

It's quite understated for a Max hat. We all know how attached she is to her Pringle!

AdaColeman · 19/09/2022 20:05

As an aside, I don't think that Charles will wait very long for his Coronation. He has had a lifetime to plan themes, music and spectacle, and at his age he will need to press on with it...so perhaps next spring!

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 20:09

Anyone want to bet a tenner on the second May bank holiday of 2023, with an extra day tagged on?

endlesscraziness · 19/09/2022 20:10

@KillingMeDeftly that's my bet too!

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/09/2022 20:11

I think May 2023 for Charles' coronation.

No symbolic dress needed for him and I'd expect Camilla to wear one of the formal white dresses she already has, perhaps with some added embellishments.

Spudlet · 19/09/2022 20:11

We have decided that we’re taking DS down for the coronation, even though it will be a really long day and we’ll get a better view on the tv. So if anyone from Buckingham Palace is reading this, we’d like plenty of notice please so we can organise a dog sitter 😁

Spudlet · 19/09/2022 20:13

But yes, I was definitely thinking Spring. They’ll want to wait for a decent period of mourning and the weather will be better then too.

Will there still be Trooping the Colour for Charles? What would the new date be?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/09/2022 20:16

What an absolute treat it has been to be with you all on such a lovely thread.

My Folks didn’t want company today so I’ve been alone but not!

aAnd I may have no style as I really liked Carrie’s square necked frock 🥴

Im torn between my favourites. There have been so many beautiful outfits.

Zara’s belted flared frock and Kirsty young’s outfit today. Zara maybe by a very beautiful nose.

Thank you all and thank you my friend 😘

Maireas · 19/09/2022 20:24

Ah, there's no right and wrong with style is there? It's all subjective. I've heard other people say that they liked Carrie's dress. At least she tries different looks! I thought Zara looked good as well.
Loved Baroness Scotland and Dr Biden, who is definitely going for the Krystle Carrington look!

FWIW I liked Carries outfit. I like her sometimes brave choices

Hi everyone, I am a lurker on these threads dropping in to say thanks for the knowledge and company. And also a question. None of the coverage ever mentions the British aristocracy as being at the funeral, not only the not by name but not even as a group. I wouldn’t recognise many by sight, and obviously the Duke of Norfolk was there, but I am presuming there were lots more? Duke of Westminster, Duke of Devonshire, Duke of Wellington etc etc and their families?

Maireas · 19/09/2022 20:31

Other titled people are not invited as a matter of course, only if they're friends. For example the Duke of Westminster is Godfather to George and a friend of the family, whereas the Duke of Marlborough most certainly is not 🙄

Interesting point. The only one the US commentators mentioned was Earl Spencer.

And the Duke of Hamilton in Scotland, who is the hereditary bearer of the Crown of Scotland.

There's a who's who by numbers in the article

justasking111 · 19/09/2022 20:35

They didn't show our first minister found his picture in the Welsh media he was there with his wife. So the Duke of Westminster etc might be on their local media

Gooseysgirl · 19/09/2022 20:37

I agree the coronation is likely to be next May to tie in with half-term - it's the most obvious choice really. I've already got my DH to book that week off work! I definitely want to go and bring the kids. I know from the jubilee this year that we arrived too late (9.30am) and it was a similar cut off on timings today for the central London part of the funeral. Would definitely look at a much earlier start to make sure of a spot!!!

paradyning · 19/09/2022 20:38

Ooo I used to serve coffee to DofH's mum every morning (Kay)

What the beef with Marlborough??

Check him out. Repossessed Porsche just the latest problem.

I spotted Earl Spencer in the congregation but nowadays he looks more like Earl Johnson! He and Boris could pass for brothers.
