A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Me too niquenique

As for the congregation? I think for some time we will hear God save the Quing. It seemed fitting though. Just for today.

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 12:18

Yes maybe I was a little bit harsh!

My goodness though, they are doing her proud.

Can I just say, Anne is a magnificent figure of a woman. She looks perfect.

I would dearly love just to give that family a big auld bosie though. I’m fair heart sair for them.

❤️ Yes I agree so sad for them all. Scottish father and husband so despite being a sassenach I knew what you meant

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 12:25

The Mounties on their beautiful horses.

Charlotte’s little horseshoe brooch was a lovely touch.

Maireas · 19/09/2022 12:25

The Mounties!

It's all perfect isn't it? I read that the private burial isn't until 7.30 this evening - such a long day for them all, I do hope they have some rest days planned they must all be exhausted Sad

Maireas · 19/09/2022 12:29

Poor Camilla with her broken toe, desperate for her slippers.

Och you would hope that they will be permitted a week or two off.

I don’t think there is a decent hearted person in the world that would grudge them that.

Just wanted to say frugal thank you for posting the info about her wreath.

Me and mam thought it was beautiful.

I agree, I can’t imagine having to do all this stuff when you’ve just lost your mother and grieving in public. The vigils and marches etc it must feel like four funerals

Standards lowered.

meateatingveggie · 19/09/2022 12:33

@RomainingCalm thank you. I think you're right. She looks perfect

I thought for a moment you were talking about our thread and wondered if I'd missed something!

AdaColeman · 19/09/2022 12:34

There is a post funeral bash for the World Leaders, a reception hosted by the Foreign Sec James Cleverly.

RomainingCalm · 19/09/2022 12:34

It is truly remarkable.

The planning, the detail, the scale, and the way that the expected and appropriate pomp and ceremony has been combined with some very personal touches.

It's very special.

The marching is almost hypnotic.

Boris!

There’s a story on Twitter that he arrived at the door of the Abbey outside of the order of entry and had to be sent to the back of the line.

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 12:37

@KillingMeDeftly Grin

Yes @RomainingCalm it is absolutely impeccable, and so powerful.

Queen Consort, Princess of Wales, George and Charlotte riding together.

frugalkitty · 19/09/2022 12:37

I don't think there's any other country who does pomp and ceremony like the Brits do, the history and tradition and meanings in it are magnificent.

Sheldonesque you're welcome. The flowers are just perfectly imperfect, like a bouquet the kids bring in from the garden because they know you'll like them.

Gooseysgirl · 19/09/2022 12:39

Here's Fergie...

She looks well.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/09/2022 12:44

The horses. Magnificent.

Floralei · 19/09/2022 12:45

I can’t sing at funerals but I mouth the words so it looks like I’m singing. V pleased to see Fergie there.

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/09/2022 12:47

I'm not a DM fan but they had a good range of pictures of people arriving. Charlene looked wonderful, it's a pity her husband always looks like he's playing dress up in a uniform (they never fit well).
