A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast I suspect Fergie also knows where the bodies are buried, so to speak, so it pays to keep her close. And likewise she relies on the royals for subsistence so perhaps it's a mutually beneficial relationship!

Excellent point 😁

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/09/2022 11:34

I think it's sometimes when people go very thin that they look more frail. The Queen until very recently wasn't particularly thin which I think made her look healthier.

Meghan went to a Catholic secondary school I think, so would know The Lord is My Shepherd.

Yes, also The Day You Have Given Us.
However, her school may have had different hymns.

Lots of rosemary in with the flowers too. I feel like the flowers are a lovely juxtapose to all the formality and ceremony, a little bit like Queen Elizabeth, a sort of homely quality.
I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well, there is warmth there that a regimented all white arrangement would've lacked.

I was thinking the same thing, a touch of informality in the midst of so much ceremony.

Not sure to that music. The hymns are markedly different between the faiths ime.

Maireas · 19/09/2022 11:35

I’ve never heard of the Day You Have Given Us. Despite my Catholic upbringing. Maybe the hymns are country specific.

Ah, we had that at both my parents' RC funerals. Took me back.

The hymns are very different. I never know any of them when I end up in a CoE church for a wedding or whatever.
Someone mentioned the Archbishop sang Praise, my soul, the king of heaven at The Queue, and that's a definite crossover hymn in that case and I've definitely sang that one many times!

SenecaFallsRedux · 19/09/2022 11:40

I'm no expert; I grew up Episcopalian, but the few Catholic services I have attended in the US were not full of hymns that I was familiar with.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 11:41

I've never heard of The Day You Have Given Us either @Maireas.

Who is sitting beside Princess Charlotte ?
I know Kate is on one side.

Peter Phillips isn't it?

(It's The Day You Gave Us, Lord, Is Ended. I know all of these, but then I'm CofE.)

frugalkitty · 19/09/2022 11:43

I meant to say earlier, with regard to Marie Chantal being there but not CPM, it's because her husband has gone instead of King Constantine.

MotherofPearl · 19/09/2022 11:45

The Abbey itself is really breathtakingly beautiful.

endlesscraziness · 19/09/2022 11:45

I can't upload a screen shot but the Royal Family instagram states the wreath has myrtle from a plant grown form the myrtle in the Queen's wedding bouquet and all the flowers are from Royal gardens

lollipoprainbow · 19/09/2022 11:46

Amazed she didn't have 'I vow to thee my country' couldn't be more fitting for her.

Maireas · 19/09/2022 11:47

Now this is a beautiful hymn.
Wesley - so we didn't learn it at Convent School!

Ah, Love Divine, my mum's favourite. She was a bit miffed that I didn't have it at my wedding but I only wanted two hymns.

I'm a bit surprised too.

I also thought we might have Abide With Me.

Not a favourite of HMQ's.
I heard a programme about her favourite music on R4 just before the Jubilee. She did like Love Divine.

Love Divine is a favourite of mine too. Reminds me of Sunday school.

meateatingveggie · 19/09/2022 11:55

Does anyone know what Charlotte is wearing on her coat? Looks like a tiny brooch.

Just like Grannie.

meateatingveggie · 19/09/2022 11:55

I meant Gan Gan

OhMerde · 19/09/2022 11:56

Meghan looks absolutely exquisite. Total perfection.....although her foundation needs matching just a teeny bit better but my god am i being picky. Oh to look even half as good.
