A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Who is that sitting between Eugenie and Snowden? Serena? Fergie??

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:25

Oh it is Fergie! I didn't recognise her in glasses and with her famous hair pulled back.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:26

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast Liz was a Lib Dem in her youth.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/09/2022 11:26

Standard.

I think every funeral I’ve ever been at has included this. Ends me.

Not sung quite so beautifully though. Usually a mix of mumbling and doric accents. And all the lovely for it.

CliffsofMohair · 19/09/2022 11:26

Teenage Liz T was not a fan. There’s a you tube clip of her being interviewed about her feelings . Very articulate.

older Liz T was Lib Dem then switcheroo’d over to the other lot.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/09/2022 11:27

Fergie looks lovely.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:27

I didn't see any of the foreign royals going in but I can just about spot Max and Wax sitting down.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 11:28

It really was bad timing for Boris.
Karma perhaps - that image of the Queen alone at Prince Phillip's funeral.

it was a gracious move to invite her. I always felt it must be hard for her daughters to see her ostracised from the fold.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:29

I am no fan of Liz Truss but thank god it was her and not Boris who was PM when the queen died. He would've made it all about himself, quoting Latin and making pompous speeches.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 19/09/2022 11:29

@KillingMeDeftly oh didn’t know that, I wonder if she was Lib Dem for the same reason I was years ago , Paddy Ashdown was going to legalise cannabis 😅

Oh God yes I couldn’t agree more !

paradyning · 19/09/2022 11:30

Max, Wax etc sat directly opposite the Charles/Camilla grouping

Well, we just have to look at events, buy that's for another thread. It's fitting to include her.

I agree. Absolutely gracious. And such a comfort for those young women I should imagine.

chesterelly1 · 19/09/2022 11:30

Lots of rosemary in with the flowers too. I feel like the flowers are a lovely juxtapose to all the formality and ceremony, a little bit like Queen Elizabeth, a sort of homely quality.
I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well, there is warmth there that a regimented all white arrangement would've lacked.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 11:30

Eugenie on entering the cathedral was ensuring her Mum was included and in line. Eventually Fergie settled on walking behind the Wessex children.

CliffsofMohair · 19/09/2022 11:31

Meghan looks a bit out of her depth. She doesn’t seem familiar with the hymns. Which is understandable. Probably not raised on a diet of Sunday night Songs of Praise like the rest of us.

paradyning · 19/09/2022 11:31

I can just about spot Albert and Charlene ( think it's her to his right).

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:32

@667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast I suspect Fergie also knows where the bodies are buried, so to speak, so it pays to keep her close. And likewise she relies on the royals for subsistence so perhaps it's a mutually beneficial relationship!

She said that on the Oprah interview - she didn't know any hymns.
A bit of a culture shock.

Meghan went to a Catholic secondary school I think, so would know The Lord is My Shepherd.

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 11:32

Rosemary, for remembrance.

Yes there is a real warmth and affection in that wreath. 🖤

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 11:32

Sorry, that was for @CliffsofMohair instead!

You have put that perfectly chesterelly

Homely. Personal. Perfect.
