A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Interesting that New Zealand gets a larger contingent www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/09/16/funeral-guest-list-queen-elizabeth-royals-politicians-leaders-invited/

I'm surprised the Obama's aren't going

Serenster · 16/09/2022 21:21

I think all the countries where the Queen/King Charles is still head of state get a contingent that they can fill as they see fit - the Aussie PM had tweeted his list earlier.

SenecaFallsRedux · 16/09/2022 21:24

I'm surprised the Obama's aren't going.

No former presidents are being invited. US press reports it's because of limited space in the Abbey. There is going to be a memorial service in Washington on Wednesday held by the British Embassy and all the former presidents have been invited.

These are the Kiwis going, plus the head of the RSA.

I really liked Kate's outfit today, especially the slight military elements of the coat with its epaulettes and silver buttons (Alexander McQueen?). The outfit reminded me of an Edwardian riding habit. I liked the Russell & Bromley shoes, such a nice change from those skyscraper stilettos, and of course the Mulberry Amberley bag.

The super jaunty hat and the coiled hair do were the perfect finishing touches.
I hope she enjoyed the haka!

Eaumyword · 16/09/2022 22:41

I feel like we might have seen it before on Remembrance Sunday?
I often think Kate looks timelessly chic, in that she could have been on an outing today, or 200 years ago!
I agree @AdaColeman she so suits that Edwardian equestrian look!

Have we seen this coat yet?

Checking in

CliffsofMohair · 17/09/2022 00:33

Beatrice has genuinely glorious hair.

Beatrice has genuinely glorious hair.

As did her mother

gluenotsoup · 17/09/2022 08:02

Well spotted @Eaumyword and @justasking111. It does look like that one but with the fringing removed. I didn’t like it anyway, it’s much better now

hopeishere · 17/09/2022 09:37

It's a cost she has work before that had fringing on the shoulders which has now been removed. I read no spouses will ever attending tonight.

They must all be shattered especially Camilla and Anne.

hopeishere · 17/09/2022 09:44

Here's the coat with and without the fringing.

Eaumyword · 17/09/2022 10:04

I agree @gluenotsoup think it looks even better without the fringing.

NiqueNique · 17/09/2022 11:05

Much better without the fringing. Kate is learning well that there is no need to go overboard with embellishments.

Serenster · 17/09/2022 11:43

I wonder if the fringing was only there because she knew very well she was dressing from the waist up only for Remembrance Day? Kind of like Trinny and Susannah tell you to wear something visually interesting on your top half if attending a dinner party. 😀

NiqueNique · 17/09/2022 12:16

Perhaps! But IMO there’s enough of a military look about it without the fringe.

Less is always more. Unless you are Max.

KillingMeDeftly · 17/09/2022 12:33

I imagine Anne, Camilla and Sophie will kick off their shoes and sit down with a massive sigh of relief on Monday.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/09/2022 12:56

Kate too.

They all look as though they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders as well as the burden of grief.

I hope all of them get a wee minute to themselves to grieve privately.

I retreat from the world when I’m hurting. I’ve had a weepfest in Markies when I had to do a shop. I can’t imagine the eyes of the world looking in.

And the heels.

I just want to feed them posh hot chocolate and pecan twists and sit them down in a comfy blanket on a squishy settee.

Maireas · 17/09/2022 12:59

That'd be lovely! So stressful.
Charles and William are out now chatting to the queue for the catafalque. Someone has just given Charles a pen! It's certainly amused him!

NiqueNique · 17/09/2022 13:00

Heh yes he had a good laugh at that!

Maireas · 17/09/2022 13:01

On another, non style note, I've been reading about HMQ's last few weeks at Balmoral, and how she passed the time. A friend was curious as to why she'd become a close follower of the BBC weather. Turns out she had a bit of a crush on Tomasz Schafernaker!
Yep, Lilbet loved the Schaf!

NiqueNique · 17/09/2022 13:07

That’s lovely. My grandmother developed a keen interest in a Danish cyclist when she was very elderly - she kept press cuttings in a book and used to watch all the cycling to see him. Rather a sweet thought that the Queen had a little crush in her latter months.

SenecaFallsRedux · 17/09/2022 13:20

Less is always more. Unless you are Max.

We have a mascot in toddler Prince Charles; this could be our motto. Or at least a future thread title. Smile
