Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

Can I join? Do we just say what we buy and what we've used up? If so....

Just ordered Emma Hardie protect and perfect primer thingy. Tried a sample and the smell is so good. I just couldn't resist buying a full size one.

Also not bought recently but rediscovered my Superdrig vitamin C booster (in a tall ish orange bottle). I just love it for helping me feel awake in the morning and it smells amazing.

Realised the smell of a product is almost as important to me as how good it is.

Empty - just about finished my Beauty Pie concealer which I re ordered cos it's fab.

Experiment627 · 29/08/2022 05:27

Welcome @RoxieLoxy!
So funny as I am not a fan of the smell of that Emma Hardie cream! I agree, the smell is a key factor for likeability. Is the Superdrug booster the Me+ one? I have that on the go too.

Thanks @Experiment627

It's strange how people like different smells! It has a very similar smell to Liz Earle Alt Retinol paste which I'd also recommend (but probably not ideal if you don't like the smell!).

The serum is a different one to yours I think. It's just called vitamin C booster and is quite cheap but makes me feel more awake in the mornings.

Hi everyone… Can we talk about eye creams please? I have never felt the need to try one before, but the crazy hours and conditions I work work in (in a hospital) plus masks pulling on my face are making me haggard. The ones I’m thinking of have retinol in them. Does anyone think it’s a good idea or am I wasting my money?

I'm not normally one for eye creams but I recently started a tub of Origins GinZing Vitamin C Eye Cream and I really rate it. I think it does actually de-puff and reduce dark circles.

MidnightMeltdown · 29/08/2022 18:45

I'm not really convinced by the idea that we need a separate cream for our eyes. I never go out a buy eye cream, I just use the ones that I get in beauty boxes, calendars, gwps etc.

However I'm in my 30s and don't have any wrinkles etc around my eyes yet. I might change my mind in 10 years time!

Ponks · 29/08/2022 18:52

I have tried sooo many eye creams and not convinced they do anything at all for crows feet etc ... yet I still try.
One of the things that has made most impact (temporary) is No 7 anti wrinkle booster serum (can't remember exact name), it's mainly Matrixyl and does a ok job but I find I have to reapply in the day.
Another nice one and much the same feeling is Estée Lauder advanced night repair eye. When I've finished my current stash of eye creams I think I'm going to repurchase as can always get a good offer somewhere.

RoxieLoxy · 29/08/2022 20:04

I notice whenever I stop using Clinique All About eyes (the normal one not the rich one). It makes a noticeable difference to fine lines for me and I've tried so many others. I always come back to it. Just ordered another pot to stock up.

SapphireSeptember · 29/08/2022 22:16

Somebody please stop me from buying all the Revolution advent calendars this year. I did it last year, and I'm going to try not doing it this year. Just get the basic one and leave it at that... (They did two small ones, the pink one on the Revolution website and the black one on the Superdrug website, then they had the mahoosive one. 😱 )

Also can't wait for their Halloween stuff!

Fraaahnces · 29/08/2022 22:38

I am so glad that Australia has finally jumped onto the Halloween bus. It wasn’t a thing here at all when I was growing up. (Was always jealous of the kids in Archie comics!)

SapphireSeptember · 30/08/2022 00:00

I love Halloween! It's also the anniversary of two family things. It's the day my parents first met and when I was 8 it was the day/night my great grandmother died (and came to say goodbye.) Although I always associate the 1st of November with that as that's when I 'officially' found out (long story there.) Anyway, Halloween is a happy day for me and I celebrate it more now than I ever did when I was a child. 😊

PomRuns · 30/08/2022 01:39

I also like the Origins GinZing eye cream. It’s also normally pretty reasonably priced.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 31/08/2022 09:15

Two empties.

Lumene skin tint. I got this in the Lumene advert calendar 2 years ago. It's a lovely natural coverage. It's a bit too pale for me even in winter so I also bought the dark, which is too dark so I mix the two. I have already repurchased.

I key List Bakuchiol moisturiser. I really like the serum version of this but not really a fan of the moisturiser. It's a bit lightweight. Won't be getting again.

Today I quit my job and did two rather huge Korean skincare and makeup orders. *Healthy coping mechanism??? (Skincare is mostly sunscreen, so I think that doesn’t count, right?)

CherryMargo · 31/08/2022 15:00

Hooray for the thread #15! 🎉 Nice to see so many new people joining us! The warmest welcome to you all! 💐

@OchonAgusOchonOh so far in 2022 I’ve only got through 21 items in full sizes and 29 sachet samples, so you’re definitely not the slowest one here! 🤗

@Fraaahnces I’m really impressed with your ruthless declutter! Once I can do something like that, I will know I have truly overcome my hoarding tendencies. Hope your decision to quit was not caused by something awful, and you’re just enjoying a break right now. Wishing you great success in your next endeavour!

@BryceQuinlanTheFirst I’ve also come to a conclusion that exfoliating acids and scrubs make my skin angry, dehydrated and generally worse looking. Unfortunately, I had bought into the hype in the past and now sit on a pile of these products. I struggle to throw items away, so I guess I will continue to use them 1-2 times a week but won’t repurchase anymore. Currently, the best exfoliating product for me is an enzyme powder (so far, I’ve tried a talc-based one, and really enjoyed the result but I’m eager to try rice powder with enzymes which @Fraaahnces has mentioned above). I still need to be careful with this type of a product though, and only use it twice a week, otherwise my skin becomes extremely dehydrated.

@Experiment627 here is my review of Plantur 39 Phyto-Caffeine Shampoo for Coloured and Stressed Hair from our thread #11 😉

This shampoo was given to me by a friend who disliked its side effects. The shampoo is designed for women in menopause and/or with low oestrogen levels. It prevents hair loss and stimulates hair growth.

Does it work? Yes! When I got the shampoo, there was 2/3 of the bottle left. And even this amount (approx. 170 ml) was enough to make my hair as full as it was 15 years ago. But and this is the big ‘but’ the shampoo severely dehydrated my hair and scalp causing severe itching after the very first application and dandruff appeared a couple of weeks later. I counteracted the side effects with Oribe Serene Scalp Leave-On Treatment but the overall experience was not pleasant.

Also, the bottle says the shampoo is ‘for coloured hair’ but its main ingredient is sodium laureth sulfate – the pigment killer ☠️

OchonAgusOchonOh · 31/08/2022 15:36

@CherryMargo Some one always has to be last. I guess it's us on this thread.

Experiment627 · 31/08/2022 19:56

Wow @Fraaahnces that is a big decision! Are you finally launching your own skincare brand?

Thank you @CherryMargo that is very interesting. I think I may give it a whirl.

I had a facial today: O M G!!
Was absolutely hamazing!!! It is as called this: Oriental “Tsubo” total facial care

And it was a mix of a regular type cleansing facial with steam and extraction plus acupressure massage... when the clay lask was on she massaged my feet. It was a totes relaxing experience. I have not checked out my skin yet but my body feels so relaxed. I will defo go back there again!!!

Fraaahnces · 31/08/2022 21:39

Bahahaha@Experiment627 Not likely!!!! The market is absolutely over-saturated, for a start - then there’s the complete lack of funds!
@CherryMargo - I quit because it was a very toxic work environment, and the hours were killing me. I have been getting up at 3am to get there every day. Everyone’s miserable. Also they kept “accidentally” rostering me on for the two days I am supposed to be at college. It’s okay… I was headhunted but their competitors and I start there next week with a lot more flexibility and a more relaxed environment.

Experiment627 · 31/08/2022 22:13

@Fraaahnces good for you & taking a stand for work/life balance. Really hope the new gaff works out.
I think there would defo be room for yoir skincare products.

MNetter since 2015, how have I only found this thread now?! I've found my people 🥰
I'm currently on a 'no buy', however. I have enough product to last me into early 2023 currently.

Hello and can I join you?

I had a big sort out and products that were unused and I just knew I would never use I donated to the local food hygiene bank. Now, it's easier to see what I have and to systematically use it up.

I buy too many different shampoos and conditioners, I have fine hair and am always trying shampoos that claim to boost / thicken / add volume. Any recommendations on shampoos that work, gratefully received.

Fraaahnces · 01/09/2022 06:44

Great Job @MissMarplesGoddaughter!!! Knowing where you’re stockpiling (for the end of the world in my case, it seems…) is a great start!
