Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

Nooo, we both politely spoke about someone else's Spiced Pork And haM and got deleted lols.

Moving on I continue to use up all the sisley samples I have been saving for a special day.

They are lovely, but some of the body creams are too highly scented for me.

On the plus size I have discovered that the 8ml sample sizes are plenty and I have been using more body cream than j need. I worry that my stash of body creams will go down even more slowly now

MidnightMeltdown · 02/09/2022 20:06

@Experiment627

Tiarax was spamming so I reported and it was deleted.

Not sure why @Zeeza was deleted! That happened before I reported so it wasn't me!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/09/2022 21:39

Well I've kinda dropped out the thread because in a lot of areas I'm 'cured' so to speak.. I now bulk buy shampoo and conditioner that I have found to work, my skin care is a 1 in 1 out situation apart from toners which I went a bit crazy with.

However I still have a LOT of makeup, unfortunatly I threw away 2 BB creams which had gone bad today, an Elizabeth Arden one and a Maybelline one. I am using Glossier skin tint and still have 3 other light coverage products in the stash.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/09/2022 21:41

Oh I also still have an abundance of hair styling products, I only blow dry my hair in winter so I don't use much in summer!

Experiment627 · 03/09/2022 02:19

Thanks for explaining @Zeeza and @MidnightMeltdown... I do know that curiosity killed the cat... just cannot help myself!

@LivingDeadGirlUK you are a shining example of how change is possible!

God… I’m so desperate to know the pork and ham controversy!!! (Like wth could possibly BE controversial…)

Zeeza · 03/09/2022 12:04

The tinned meat you make fritters out of, and unfortunately people post of chatboards.

I darent even use the word and get another post removed.

I dont understand mumsnet rules at all lols. They seem very variable.

I wish I could say I'm happy but tbh my skin is currently breaking out, I've obviously not found the skincare regime for me and still buy different products each time, I just don't have a massive stash of them possibly going off.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/09/2022 19:17

I've found another area I still have issues with lol, I have a hoard of bath products, vary rarely have a bath and have always saved them for a 'special occasion'. Just chucked on in my sons bath as he asked and its obviously so old its not even fizzed!

Experiment627 · 03/09/2022 19:47

@LivingDeadGirlUK maybe use up bath soak as hand wash or shower gel?

Fraaahnces · 04/09/2022 01:00

Things like bath bombs and fancy soaps can be put in el cheapo organza gift bags (junk shop/wilkos) and hung on the hook of coat hangers or placed in drawers with clothes to scent them and help deter moths. I don’t have a bath at my place and that’s what I do with gifts like that. Also, they can be folded into jumpers etc to make them smell nicer than mothballs. I do this with those lovely Italian lemon, orange and lavender soaps. My grandmother taught me that one. I often have people comment on the fresh scent of my knitwear and asking what laundry soap I use.

GoingCrockPot · 04/09/2022 08:53

Oh I like that one about the soaps.

Fraaahnces · 04/09/2022 10:30

Also scented candles can be shoved in drawers if you are unlikely to burn them.

Fraaahnces · 04/09/2022 12:52

I went to my local Daiso today and it’s now twice the size it used to be… They have a whole aisle of fabulous Japanese skincare and body products!!!! (Cheaper ordering online!) Obviously I need to locate a Korean supermarket and see what they have too. (No sunscreen unfortunately.)

Experiment627 · 04/09/2022 14:09

That sounds very tempting @Fraaahnces!!! I much prefer buying "in the flesh" than online - especially when I cab spend hours choosing what to buy.

Some v good tips there @Fraaahnces!

Few empties from me.

Elemis cleansing balm just the best. I've always managed to get this on special offers and/or with GWPs but there's no denying it's pricey. This week amazon had it on offer so I added it to my subscribe and save for an extra 15% off and got a new one for £23. Feeling pretty pleased about that!

Dr Barbara Sturm face cream rich didn't expect to like this as much as I did given this brand is in every GWP, beauty box and advent calendar since the dawn of time Grin but it's actually very good. Can get just as good for much less £££ though so won't RP.

L'Occitane dry skin hand cream love this. Have approx one million hand creams in the stash but this will be on the list when I'm allowed to buy more!

Experiment627 · 05/09/2022 06:35

Reporting two empties:

  • Stella perfume: love this stuff. Hard to find. Really hope it does not get discontinued.
  • Native deodorant lavender & rose: I picked this up in the US - I think in Target. I really liked this stick roll on although have had to cut short before fully used up as now the case scrubs my pits with each application.

Reporting another empty:

  • Novon shower cream with silk extract: picked this up for 40p!!!!!!!!!!!! At Sainsburys and you know what it is perfectly fine and smells nice.

All the hand & body wash runs out in every bathroom at the same time! I have three mint and eucalyptus antibac foaming hand soaps gone, and three different industrial-sized body washes. They’re always replaced with whatever I like the sound of best that is on special, but I am seriously resenting how the “refills” are more expensive per ml than the actual pump bottles. Why can’t they put it in sachets?

PomRuns · 08/09/2022 09:23

I spend far too much time picking hand washes. It’s like picking a nail colour…

Elemis cleansing balm. Love this but going to try cheaper options.

Living proof 5 in 1 styling treatment. This was really good. My hair goes crazy in the rain but it wasn’t the usual frizz ball when I used this.

Nou Nou hair mask. From a Liberty beauty bag. It was very good. Lovely smell as well.

Dr Jart hydra solution. Nothing special. Think single use masks have had their day.

108/120
12 samples.

PomRuns · 08/09/2022 09:24

@Maranello ah see you managed to get a good price on Amazon. Will look.

Maranello · 08/09/2022 11:44

Definitely worth a look @PomRuns if you use the subscribe and save anyway (I get it monthly for cat food and litter and cleaning refills) - with the 15% saving on top of the usual Amazon price it worked out half price, even if it didn't feel as glamorous as ordering it from a beauty store!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/09/2022 11:48

Please can I join you? I'm sort of working through my stash, though have recently started a Retinol regime, and am trying the no 7 stuff. Sometimes I've had stuff in advent calendars that really isn't me...black eyeliner, etc. I make DD a calendar up every year, and put a few of these things in. I have recently resisted the Liberty Offer with the lovely make up bag with planets on it, which was tempting, but we're due the beauty drop in October, and I can't really justify it. Also, as discussed elsewhere on S & B, in previous years I have made up make up bags with hotel toiletries, toothbrush, etc, as a first night 'kit' for women in the local refuge, and a couple of more luxury things. I'm doing the same this year. A couple of MNers expressed interest, so I'll be doing a thread starting next month for anyone who wants to get rid of a couple of bits of stash that way. I was pleased that I used the last of my glycolic Superdrug pads, before starting the retinol stuff, as, child that I am, normally I would have abandoned them to try the shiney new thing! Grin

PomRuns · 08/09/2022 11:56

@Maranello thank you so much 😊
@SpongeBobJudgeyPants that’s such a great idea.

Fraaahnces · 08/09/2022 11:59

I forgot to report some more empties. They’re not that interesting. Two x 25ml (mini) Laneige Cream Skin Refiners. Bloody love this stuff! It’s basically an entire bottle of moisturiser in a liquid format. You can buy it as a mist or a splash. The splash is cheaper and comes in a bigger bottle. It’s exactly the same stuff. I decanted my minis into a small empty mist bottle (Sioris Time is Running Out Mist) for my work bag and into a bigger mist bottle for home. It is without a doubt the most perfect thing to spray on when you feel hot or parched or need instant moisture. It makes your skin Uber glowy when used as a setting spray too.
